I went in to get the battery replaced for my watch. I had to wait 10 minutes because the owner was checking the current price of gold! When I first came in, he said he was in the middle of doing something that he had put off for a month so it needed his attention before he could get to me (there were no other customers). Ten minutes later he came out with another saleswoman (where was she while I was waiting?) and was chatting about the price of gold he had been checking just then. Then, he was very rude about changing my watch battery - I got the feeling it was beneath him. Moreover, he kept asking me personal and intrusive questions about my career, perhaps to determine how much money I made. Who knows. Anyway, I asked him to call me when it was finished, but he never did. When I did pick up the watch, I again had to wait for him to finish ""other business"" and the price of the battery change was extremely high. I will never do business with Marquis Jewelers again. ADDITION since original post (Dec '09): incidentally, a friend of mine used them recently and also had a terrible experience with them. I wish she had asked me before going there. I've asked her to write a review, but the short end of it is that the owner was basically yelling and belittling my friend over the phone over a dispute. I want to thank Marquis for one thing: getting into review writing. I had never considered it before, but I was so upset with my experience that they made me do something I've never done before. And now it's very therapeutic to put people on notice about good, and unfortunately bad businesses. Marquis Jewelers is a bad business. I encourage anyone to read their Yelp reviews as they are very enlightening.
