Great ambience! Great Sunday Brunch 2/12/2008

I have been to M5 twice. Once for dinner and the other time for brunch. I love the brunch. So casual and peaceful, surrounded by great ambience and terrific service. Check this place out! Also the patio for drinks is amazing. Can't wait to go in the summer mths. Pros: Ambience, Sunday brunch Cons: nothing more

Wonderful every time 2/9/2008

I have dined at M5 at least 10 times for lunch and dinner, mostly dinner on the weekends. The decor is great but it is always the food that brings me back. It is not cheap so do not expect huge portions for a small amount of money like you would expect at a run of the mill chain restaurant. The portions are absolutely adequate and many nights I cannot finish my plate after starting with one of M5's delicious appetizers (my favorites are the hummus and the cheese plate). I am not sure what the reviewers who gave M5 a low rating are used to eating and I cannot imagine what size portion they expect to get if they are not satisfied with their M5 entree. I appreciate quality ingedients and unique dishes which is what I have always received and I have been willing to drive 40 miles round trip for each visit. This is not Mediterranean food like you get at the Kabob Grill (which is also a great place to eat), rather, it is influenced by ingredients from Spain and the surrounding areas. Hats off to Tom and the great staff at M5. Pros: Great staff, delicious food. Cons: Can be hard to get a table on the weekends. more

Charlottes premier place 2/9/2008

I've lived in Charlotte a decade and have been waiting for this. No other place in town can deliver this kind of food in this kind of locale. In the spring sit outside. The white comfortable sofas are first come first serve and you can order the full menu from there. Pros: Everything Cons: Can't think of a thing more

The Best in Town 1/30/2008

By far the best in town. Fresh, subtle and elegant food in a modern and comfortable environment. If you are looking for a vat full of spicy blackened fish this is not the place for you. If you have an elevated palette and appreciate high end aesthetics, you will like it. Great for lunch and dinner. Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

M5 1/29/2008

Wonderful ambiance, great decor, excellent service, but that is it. The food is overpriced, and portions are very, very small. I was extremely disappointed with the food, especially because I suggested M5 to colleagues, and we all were dissatisfied. What a let down. I hope that they wake up and smell the coffee soon or else they are not going to make it. Pros: Ambience, Parking, Service Cons: Food Portions Taste more

what a waste of time and money!!!!!! 1/26/2008

Really?!? They really just charged me 12 $ for a couple of romaine leaves---and had the nerve to call it salad?!? If you're 35-45 and not quite over college (i.e., still out drinking and trying to hook up) every Friday and Saturday; if you love to spend your hard earned money eating Barbie-sized flavorless food....then this is your place!!!! Pros: it's in South Park; it's non-smoking Cons: everything else more

Waste of money, not Medeterranian food 1/7/2008

Going with friends to this new restaurant in South Park seemed like a great idea, and when we walked in to M5, we were excited. The design of the restaurant is phenomenal. From there, however, the evening was a disappointment. Although the service was superb, the food was overall lackluster and extremely overpriced. Some reviews say a person can get out of there with drinks and dinner for $30. There is no possible way, as the prices are ridiculous. A basic tiny salad was $12!!! The shrimp appetizer ($11 or $12) had 3 shrimp! The entrees were probably $25 - $30 each on average, and for what? Unseasoned, small portioned, NON-MEDETERRANIAN food. They even charged us $1 for extra bread (which we didn't even order!!!) My drink (gin and tonic) was even weak. Although our waitress was very nice, we will not return to this restaurant. Pros: Service, atmosphere Cons: food, prices, parking more

Exceptionally Bland Food 11/5/2007

The restaurant is beautiful and very unique in design. All this hype was met with an extemely disappointing meal. We started with the antipasta platter, which was pretty good and geared up our expectations for the main meal. However, the red snapper had practically no taste. The Osso Bucco was also very bland. Even the way the meal was dressed was bland in taste. Again, the appearance from when you first walk in to when you receive your food was excellent. However, the severe disappointment came at the first bite. We contemplated dessert, which sounded good, but after a bland meal, we concluded that we did not want to be diappointed by a bland dessert as well. Very disappointing and we will probably not return. Pros: Excellent ambience Cons: Bland tasting food, average service more

not like mediterranian should be, bad hummus . waste of money and time 11/3/2007

i went with great expectations, but i was dissapointed. i understand concept of moddern twist on mediterranian food , but that doesn't mean to create something that is not even relatable to meditteranian. i am from that part of the world and trust me- i left that place upset ,because it is very easy to lie to people at southpark, who will try anything fancy...mediterranian? not so much! it is the same sordfish , it is the same asparragus! go lie to someone else! more

New York City meet Charlotte 10/29/2007

This is one of my favorite new spots in Charlotte. It has a big city vibe and a fantastic menu. They have a pasta dish that is absolutely fantastic. If you are looking for a place full of energy with great food... this is the place. Pros: Ambience, menu, value Cons: parking more
