M V Keipler Plumbing did an outstanding job responding to and replacing our hot water heater in the Poconos. The tank, which they had previously installed 8 years ago (2 years after its warrantee period), failed on a Sunday evening. We called and left a message and they returned the call 15 minutes after they opened on Monday morning, a much faster response than we expected. Within an hour and a half they had an experienced plumber at our cabin with an exact replacement water heater in the truck that would fit in the crawl space. He checked out the problem in about 10 minutes and started pulling the new heater under the house shortly after that. While doing that he noticed that the water pressure tank from the well wasn’t working properly and said he would check that out after replacing the hot water tank. It really surprised us that with all the work he had to do he finished replacing the hot water heater within an hour and a half. The work he did was excellent. Then he checked out the water pressure tank and found that it had lost its air pressure which was causing the well pump to work too hard. He took a compressor under the house and pumped it back up and told me how to check it in about two weeks which could keep the wheel pump from going bad. If the pressure tank is bad he explained how much cheaper it is to replace it instead of getting a new well pump. Finally before he left we had him check out our toilet which was running too long. A quick adjustment there and he was done in 5 minutes. Then if that wasn’t enough on Friday afternoon we lost all water pressure. We called Keipler again explained the problem to Rachel and she was able to have Chuck the owner come and check out that problem an hour later. Turned out to be a bad relay in the water pump caused by what we believe was a lightning strike very close to the house. He had the relay fixed in about 15 minutes. While the hot water work was going on I had contacted Sears to get an estimate for the hot water heater and learned that the one they had which was smaller than the one installed would have been a more expensive job than the final bill we received a few days later from Keipler which we were able to pay for using our credit card. We are very pleased with the customer service we received. more

Sorry for the delayed response to Karil's (no last name-- could she/he be a relative or close friend?) whitewash review. 1) Keiper STILL does not answer their phone on weekends or holidays -- perhaps KariL has a secret number? 2) yes, I certainly have an axe to grind: a) I was charged for parts not supplied by Keiper b) because I objected to this practice, Gloria Keiper refused to respond to a plumbing problem at my home, nor did she or Sam Keiper ever respond to my detailed e-note objecting to the practice of billing for a ""foreign"" part which I was required to purchase from another source. Bad communication is bad business. I am certainly not anti-plumber.. you can find very positve reviews from me for another local plumber--Knecht. They are responsive and effective. more

MV Keiper Plumbing is now under new ownership and the service is excellent! It is now just called Keiper Plumbing (I'm thinking they kept the name for recognition maybe?)and Rachel and Chuck were friendly, smart and easy to work with. Our service was quick and the charges were fair. We called today, a Saturday, and not only was the phone answered, but a plumber was sent to our home to pull a faulty pump. We were charged a weekend rate for the call, but it was not exorbitant. Being from Philadelphia, the rate was very reasonable compared to what we would pay for the same call down there. When we read the above review, we were worried about even making the call, but were pleased with the end result. Give the new Keiper Plumbing a try ~ they are our new plumber for our second home in Locust Lake Village. more

We've using Keiper Plumbing for years and always got a quick response. For emergencies, they done work for us on weekends and off-hours. They are reliable, courtesy and pleasant. It sounds like the previous reviewer has an ax to grind. more

Keiper's plumbers, especially Mark, Joe, and Joe, have done competent, friendly work at my residence; however the owner, Sam Keiper, insists on adding a ""handlng"" charge to his bill when the customer purchases a part from someone other than him in addition to normal labor charges. I paid this extra charge when I purchased a large tub from another vendor in part because Keiper also carries tubs, but when he billed me without explanation or notice for a faucet that I was required to buy from the manufacturer, I paid only the labor charges (the bill did not include the hours work or the labor rate!) and explained why in a letter with my check. The letter was never answered but some months later when I phoned and asked his wife, Gloria Keiper, whether she would send someone to repair a leak, she refused to dispatch a plumber. Fortunately this was not an emergency and another local plumber, Dennis Knecht, (Pocono Pines 570-646-2126) responded the same day and repaired the problem which one of Keiper's people had missed on previous visit. I am not related or friends with either Knecht or Keiper, but strongly recommend that you do not deal with Keipers. They were obstinate, arrogant, and were not willing to communicate to resolve this dispute amicably. And heaven help you if you have an emergency on the weekend!. Pros: Mark, Joe and Joe (2 plumbers named Joe) are friendly and competent Cons: Sam and Gloria Keiper charge unreasonable handling fees and refuse to communicate about disputes. more
