I am the only biological daughter and was the only local Muncie family/contact for my father. My father was admitted from Lynd House to the hospital in May 2010. He arrived with a broken shoulder, head injury, Sepsis and Septic Shock, open leg wound/ulcer that had drained for weeks (he told me he was denied medical care for it at Lynd House so it continued to ooze odor and drainage) and a glucose level of a whopping 1133. Who was monitoring this at Lynd House? The Director here went behind my back - despite seeing me everyday and orchestrated Power of Attorney papers for my father to sign. (he was not competent to give consent and as a Director, she should have known this) The Power of Attorney she supported has a history of domestic violence. As the Director, this was clearly a conflict of interest to ""side"" with and alienate family. She failed to include my name on papers at Lynd House- despite seeing me there nearly everyday. As a result, I was not notified when my father was admitted into Intensive Care. My father told me the Director also dressed him up and took him to his Credit Union where she opened an account with him. Financial Abuse of the Elderly is unacceptable. Again, a conflict of interest. My father's Life Support was disconnected without my knowledge. I was not told his death would occur, nor was I told it would happen afterward. My father would never have wanted his life support disconnected- he told me this. He believed death happens in ""God's time."" We had many discussions about this. So to my horror, I was not with my father when he died. My father suffered incredible abuse at Lynd House and if I save one family member from the abuse there, it is worth my time and effort. As a Social Worker for 30 years, and having worked as the Director of Social Service in long term care, I am appalled. Lynd House needs to be closed. The documentation I have would make anyone run from this place.
