If you are looking for a movie theater in the area where you do not have to wait 5 hrs to get in (ahem, Southpoint!), check out Lumina! Lumina always has a few good movies playing and it's never crowded so you can watch a movie in peace. And it's actually cheaper than Southpoint! more

The Lumina is in southern village (which is it's own little world). They have a really cool theater with these little silicon lights in the front. The theater itself is actually pretty nice. The seats are really comfortable, and the theater is built really nicely, so that no one's head can really get in your way. more

Tiny but cool 4/5/2006

This theater is fairly unique from my experience. It's a very small place with only a few screens, but it's really nice. The seats are in stadium style. It's very clean and new. They frequently get the big blockbusters so you don't have to go all the way to SouthPoint. Instead, you can just hop over here and enjoy the tiny audiences the theater draws. They also have some neat specials during the summer. Oh, and there's a pizza place next door where you can grab dinner before or after. It's all very convenient. It's also a great excuse to visit Southern Village, one of my favorite developments in the area. more

Nice location, good movies 7/31/2005

This movie theater located in Southern Village is the best one in Chapel Hill. All of the theaters have stadium seating. It is clean. The best feature is that they have a lot of specials. In the summer they have the movies on the village green for $3 where they project a second run movie on an outdoor screen (you can bring your own food and drinks). In the summer, they also have morning kid movies. The cons to this theater are the lack of parking and the fact that they only take cash. They have an ATM inside though. more
