The Best Costume Store in Austin 2/25/2011

I was so impressed with this great costume store. I went to a fancy costume store on Burnet and they just pointed to the row I might be interested in. But when I checked out Lucy In Disguise, everyone who worked there were more than just helpful, they sent me email, they called me, and when I was at the store they remembered what I was looking for and found me the perfect outfit for my ball. Julie was so great, and a young man also helped me. I was very impressed at the organizing of their costumes and accessories and how very helpful and kind they were. And the prices were very reasonable! I recommend this costume store over all others!! more

great costume place, well know landmark 10/9/2010

I can't tell you how long this store has been there and how many times I've gotten great costumes from here for an event. Now with holloween coming up I just found another great costume for the parties. It's not fancy or anything like 'cause it is just a costume shop after all. But considering all the stuff they have to organize it's pretty well sorted out and things are easy to find though a little cramped. I would def. recommend going to Lucy in Disguise if you haven't found what you're looking for this holiday season. more

At Lucy In Disguise With Diamonds, I can shop with confidence. This place is amazing. Great staff. Great service. You can't find a better place for costume supplies in Austin. Not to mention, their prices are friggin' awesome. They even give discounts to us stage performers. I will be back... a lot. Pros: Great staff, great selection, massive variety, great prices, apreciates local performers Cons: not a thing more

Buyer Beware 10/6/2008

Last year, my daughter had the lead in her school musical Annie. Two weeks before the performance, we went to Lucy in Disguise to rent an Annie costume. It appeared to be cheaply made and pricey to rent, but I felt I had no alternative. One week before we needed the costume, my wife found a much better option at a second hand clothing store. I immediately contacted Lucy in Disguise to cancel the reservation. I canceled the reservation a week in advance and although the costume never left their store I was charged full price. Buyer beware. more

Bset costume source 11/26/2005

Cannot beat this store for selection. You can rent and buy costumes and vintage clothes. Staff are helpful with an attitude (just stop being so needy and you'll get along fine). Was great for my Halloween costume but I think they are especially useful for the year-round occassions. Amazing 'vintage' accessories. Lots of costumes that do not make you look like a stripper (and many that do). more

Unbelievable Selection Of Costumes! 11/18/2005

This is the most amazing store I've seen outside of London or Manhattan! Over 50,000 costumes in stock at all times!!! Just about every costume wig ever made is available here along with wigs, make-up, jewelry, vintage clothing, and an incredibly cool and hip staff! Check out the sale section in the back (ask where it is--the store is set up like a funhouse maze). I found a 1940's bathing suit for a dollar and a pair of bell-bottoms for 3 bucks! Yes, there is a line around the block just to get in around Halloween, but the rest of the year offers quick and efficient service. Pros: Huge Selection, Cool Staff, The Store ROCKS!!! more

I went in to look for some specific halloween makeup and even though it was very crowded the staff was extremely helpful and very quick. They have huge selection of everything costume related that you can think of. They have good costumes but are way over priced. don't go there expected to spend less than $40 for an entire outfit. more

Lucy is Disguise is a great costume shop where you are likely to find just what you need. They offer some great quality costumes and you can either rent or buy them. They are pretty pricey though, so be sure it is what you want, and that you can't find it anywhere else. The staff is great at helping sizing and they explain the rental agreement really well. more

I remember stepping in to Lucy in Disguise when I was in highshool, and the first thing I remember thinking was "this is definitely cool." Lucy in Disguise has an amazing selection of costumes for any occasion. Everytime I have gone in, they always help me find exactly what I want, and do a great job of giving me little suggestions to make the costume even better. PROS: Fun Selection, Nice Staff CONS: more

Whether you're looking for a bizarre Halloween costume or just need some humor in your life, you'll find something to wear at Lucy in Disguise. You can spend a whole afternoon trying wigs and wacky accessories. There are also tons of clothing to rent for any occasion and taste, whether you want to impersonate a serial killer school girl or show up to your next date as Tarzan. The most amazing costume store 6/4/2005

Half-costume store, half-rummage sale, total sensory overload - that's Lucy in Disguise. The front room is packed with rack after rack of costumes. Most are available for either purchase or rent. There are tons of accessories at various counters around the store. In the back room is a huge selection of masks and props. (Need some angel wings, they have like six styles to choose from.) They have racks of boas, tons of wigs, shoes, jewelry, you name it. The people working in the store and generally casual and helpful. It can be a little crazy in there and they are excellent at helping you find exactly what you're looking for. If you have some time to kill and you're in the South Congress area, definitely stop in and just browse (it can take hours and it's sheer joy!) Parking can be a little tricky since it's right on Congress, but with some patients (and a good eye for availability on the side streets), you shouldn't have too much trouble.
