POOR FOOD, SERVICE, ETC, ETC 6/3/2007

WAITED 1/2 HOUR FOR FISH & FRIES. FRIES WERE LUKEWARM, FRIENDS FISH WAS LUKEWARM.\r FISH WAS HARD TO FIND IN ALL THAT BATTER. COMPLAINT TO WAITRESS FOR HOT FISH FOR MY FRIEND WAS NOT SERVED FOR OVER 20MINUTES IN WHICH TIME MY FRIEND LOST HER APPETITE AND SAID FORGET IT. WAITRESS SAID SHE WOULD HAVE OUR BILL COMPED, BIG DEAL, $1.50 OFF THE BILL COULD NOT, AND NEVER WILL, MAKE UP FOR SUCH POOR SERVICE AND SUCH TERRIBLE FOOD. \r THE RESTAURANT WAS NOT EVEN HALF FULL ON A FRIDAY EVENING, COULD THIS BE THE RESULT OF SUCH POOR SERVICE AND SUCH TERRIBLE FOOD?\r SORRY TO SEE THIS HAPPENING, LUCKY DILL WAS ALWAYS ONE OF OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANTS BUT CANNOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE AT THE PRESENT TIME. HOPE IT IMPROVES. more

DISAPPOINTED FROM BROOKLYN 2/11/2007

I WAS CRAVING CORNED BEEF & USED MY LUNCH HOUR JUST TO DRIVE BACK & FORTH TO GET MY SANDWICH. i GREW UP IN BKLYN 1/2 BLOCK FROM A JEWISH DELI WITH HAND CARVED PASTRAMI AND DELICIOUS CORNED BEEF SANDWICHES,,,WELL, I GOT BACK TO WORK AND TOOK ONE BITE OF MY $8.00 PLUS SANDWICH AND FELT LIKE i WAS EATING AN ARBY'S MEAL. THAT WAS THE WORST CORNED BEEF I HAVE EVER HAD. PUBLIX HAS BETTER CORNED BEEF. BOY WAS I EVER DISAPPOINTED. I REMEMBER WHEN THE LUCKY DILL WAS ON US 19 AND I ATE THERE MANY TIMES...THE FOOD WAS GREAT. WHAT HAPPENED??? more

A piece of the Big Apple in Florida! 11/10/2006

When my stepdad steps out and raves about a restaurant, I know its good. The pickiest of all eaters, his two thumbs up are on a particular restaurant is equivalent to being acknowleged for a nobel peace prize. Yeah, it doesn't happen to often but when it does... I have to find out why. If you ever had a deli sandwich that is bigger than your mouth and wish that you had a flip top head in order to eat it... then you have been to the Lucky Dill. The sandwichs are huge, the menu has variety and the baked goods on your way out the door creates quite the temptation. This is a great lazy afternoon place to eat, a great place to bring your family (especially if your family likes to be reminded of the good ol' days in NY) and a place that will not leave hungry. Definitely try the matzo ball soup and a delicious reuben sandwich with a slice of heavely cheesecake. Pros: Huge Sandwichs, Great Baked Goods Cons: Parking (the restaurant is quite popular) more

awesome breakfast 7/10/2006

We have enjoyed several Sunday morning breakfasts here. Absolutely excellent! We have never been disappointed, always consistant. The corned beef is the best and the staff are freindly and efficient as well. Love the mini bread loaf before breakfast. What a nice touch. We have been to several restaurants for breakfast in the Tampa Bay area and I would rate this one well above the rest. Pros: food, staff more

Like pastrami? Come here! 10/10/2005

I love this place! I went there on 10-8-05 with my dad. I got a pastrami sandwich on rye, and lemme tell ya, it was delicious. I also got dessert from the bakery: 4-5 rainbow cookies and a canoli! I tell ya, this place r0xx0rs! Pros: Good Food, Nice Service, Great Bakery more

Breakfast Club 10/1/2005

I haven't had lunch here, but I can definitely vouch for the breakfast. Food comes with pastries and fruit, a nice touch that sets it apart from most breakfast joints. Prices are good, and I haven't been disappointed in the food yet. more

Deli 4/24/2003

The inside of the restaurant is nice but need improvement on the patio dining. Since there's not much competition in the area, it's consider good. Expected warm buns but was served cold. Pros: bakery, deli variety Cons: patio, service more

No New York here! 1/14/2003

I have seen reviews that state that this place is the best New York deli in Tampa Bay. The reviewers must have been paid off by the Albertson's food store. Why you ask? I had a turkey ruben which has sliced turkey, saurerkraut, and russian dressing. The turkey was $2.99 a pound Jenny O from Albertson's, a can of kraut, and wish bone dressing. The cole slaw on the side was right of Albertson's. What happened to REAL sliced turkey, kraut fresh, or out of a bag, mixing mayo, catsup, relish, to make the dressing, and making real fresh cole slaw. I was horrified at the bill....a N.Y ripoff. Cons: cheap supermarket foo, bad everything more

NY Deli 10/16/2002

Been there on multiple occassions. My favorite is the soup & 1/2 sandwich. I like the hot corned beef on rye. Fast, courteous employees; wonderful food; very reasonable price. This is a restaurant worthy of ""repeat visits"". more

Lucky Palm Harbor! 9/1/2002

Visit 9-1-02; fboitalia1 got it right. Busy! Noisy! Crowded! That's deli ambience. Lucky Dill Wine & Fern Bar? No. Best Kosher deli food (so far) in the Bay area. Used to NY or Chicago corned beef? Order the pastrami here. Get a better pickle, it's not quite right. Get rid of that food processor cold slaw! Consistency of cream of wheat and too sweet. Tuna salad sandwich, great. How about a bowl of chicken NOODLE or clear broth. Chicken veg on both visits was very salty. Keep that wait staff! The sandwich size was a true deli experience (much larger than on our last visit, Jan. '02 but the prices went up a little also). If I want a Ruban that's two slices of beef and the cook sat on it, I'll go to one of thousands of 'Early Bird $4.95 special' joints in the area. I'll be back. Pros: deli ambience, pastrami, baked goods Cons: cold slaw more

Lucky us 8/20/2002

Lucky Dill has the best food and service. They will do whatever it takes to keep the customer happy. They serve enormous portions but the food if you don't finish you'll take it home and have yet another meal out of it. Don't forget the dessert onthe way out!! Pros: good food, friendly staff, great dessert Cons: parking, lines, noisy more

Satisfy that craving for NY Jewish Deli 8/12/2002

The best NY-Style Jewish Deli on the West Coast of Florida. Always enjoy the pastrami on rye, great matzoh ball soup-- lots of chicken and veggies, good chopped liver and onions, real NY attitude, nice looking restaurant. It's not the Carnegie or Katz's though. They need to serve dills and half sours on the table like in NY (I mean the name is the lucky DILL). Desserts are alright, not great. The place is always mobbed, so go at off hours or be prepared to wait a long time. They're obviously doing a lot right, but if they add the pickle platter, they'd have it made. Pros: Good Jewish deli food, bring the family, satisfy NY craving Cons: very busy/crowded, long wait, not as good as NY more
