Worst

My fiance and I had lunch there for valentines day. We both got the meat-pies. We both got sick. Very sick. Like, gut rot, sick. Our only conclusion is that we have food poiso...

Gotta Try It! 3/10/2003

Just an overall great place to grab a drink with friends. The staff is really friendly and the food is pretty good too. If you love beers on tap, this is the place to try some rare ones! more

fav spot 10/14/2002

I love this place. I love the fact that they have Guinness and treacle pudding with custard. The outside patio is nice in that it's tucked back in the alleyway and has heat lamps. And that they seem to be somewhat pet-friendly, as a well-behaved mutt can hang out at the patio tables with everyone else. Pros: Close to parking lot Cons: Weekend crowd more

Enjoy the Beer from the Patio 8/28/2002

Lucky Baldwin's is a small pub with a great outdoor patio. The beer selection is great with a lot of great beers on tap. The patio is the best place to enjoy your beer where you can people watch in Old Town Pasadena. Pros: Beer Garden more

Great food!! 7/18/2002

If you ever want the BEST ""fish and chips"" go here. It is so good and very good priced, also great beer on tap, and over all a fun and kick back place to hang out after work or even on weekends. Pros: inexpensive, great drinks, crowded Cons: bathroom is small more

Alot of fun!! 7/18/2002

Whether I have been here for dinner or for a few beers with friends two things always happen. First I am guaranteed a great time.. this place is just small enough to be fun, with out the rush and push of a rowdy crowd. Second, I always get hungry here, and end up ordering some fish n chips or bangers n mash... mmm. My best times have been up in the loft area looking down on all the people and spoting the blind dates. Pros: great import beers, good tunes, charming Cons: Service can be slow more

World Cup Excitement! 7/1/2002

What a party they had!! The place was packed. Upstairs, downstairs, outside patio and even in the trees! They had TV's placed everywhere so you couldn't miss a thing. Great hosts, Great place and above all a Great Game! Thanks Lucky Baldwins. We had a great time. Pros: Soccer, Soccer, Soccer more

Great Place to hang out... 6/26/2002

So, this is the choice of place to go and have a drink after work, and I'll agree, the service is good, the patio outside is really nice, the food pretty good (I like the fish & chips), they have two dart boards upstairs, and you can have a pretty good game or two up there. My one and only problem with this place is that all they serve is beer and ale. I mean, it's cool, I don't mind, but I wouldn't mind a good shot of Patron, or a mixed drink from time to time. Nope, nothing. So for those who like beer but would like more options, this is probably not the BEST place for you. Pros: Great Beer Selection, Dart Boards, Fish & Chips Cons: They ONLY serve Beer more

STOP-- NOW, have a drink 6/24/2002

this is the place in all of pasadena. the outside patio, is so laid back, come have a few after work and enjoy the summer weather. My friends and i have been coming here for 5 yrs now. its the greatest little bar around. Try the sandwhichs there so good. Live music on some days and can never beat the outside patio. Dont go anywhere else, you cant beat lucky b's Pros: great oudoor patio, nice staff, best beer more

In Agreement (Watch the World Cup) 6/17/2002

I completely agree with the comments below detailing Lucky's authenticity and their commitment to a quality pub. Be sure not to miss their beer tasting festivals and remember that they are open for almost all of the World Cup Games. I can't think of a better place to take in a footie match (soccer). more

Beer-eerios! 6/12/2002

When the World Cups comes around you better find yourself at Lucky Baldwin. With soccer and rugby on the tubes and darts upstairs, Lucky Baldwins is the closest thing to London you can get. The menu offers British eats in all their bland glory, ranging from Shepherd's Pie to Pigs ' Blankets. more

Pasadena's best pub 5/23/2002

Lucky's is the best place to grab a brew in Pasadena. They have an excellent selection of beer, a great patio and the service is really good. You don't much more than that. more

Close your eyes and imagine... 5/21/2002

Close your eyes, imagine what an English pub should look like, what kind of food it should serve and what kind of patrons you'd find there and what the owners would be like. Now open your eyes and go to Lucky's. Just what you imagined, huh? Great beer. Great owners. Great music on the jukebox and sometimes live entertainment outside. Try the fish and chips or bangers and mash. Pros: Lots of good beer, Nice owners, Outdoor dining Cons: Out of Bellhaven more

Relaxed old-town pub 5/21/2002

Need a break from the ultra-hip energy of Old Town Pasadena? Lucky Baldwin's is a relentlessly un-trendy British-style pub on the fringe of all the Starbucks and Urban Outfitter locations in the area. Find dozens of obscure beers by the bottle and on tap, a constant supply of soccer matches on the bar TVs and a fairly large patio. more

Breakfast, anyone? 5/19/2002

Breakfast at Lucky Baldwin's is not for the faint of heart -- or artery. Eggs, bangers, beans, hash and a slice of fresh tomato (for presentation's sake). The patio is shady, a good place to smoke, drink, chat and watch shoppers drift through Olde Towne. more

A fine pub 5/19/2002

There is no better place in L.A. to get a pint. If you are looking for a great English pub, Lucky Baldwin's is the place for you. Their beer selection can't be beat. The food ain't bad either. Pros: Beer Selection, Food Cons: Slow service more

THE pub in Pasadena 5/17/2002

I have to weigh in. Everyone's said it already, but I'll say it again for you folks just joining us here: Lucky Baldwin's is a GREAT place for a beer. Wonderful selection of microbrews and exotics on tap, plus a huge variety of bottles. The service is spotty, as other people have mentioned, and the food is just okay--except for their chips, which might be the best I've ever had. If at all possible, sit outside in the beer garden--indoors tends to be noisy and less comfortable. The crowd tends towards those in the know who eschew the usual Old Town scene in favor of hoisting a few pints. Pros: beer selection, beer garden Cons: spotty service, mediocre food more

Outside 5/16/2002

Lucky's is da bomb for after-work beers on the patio. definitely not an Old Town-fellin kind of place. Fantastic beer selection, even if the service is a bit slow in gettin' a pint to you. more

Van Morrison on the jukebox 5/16/2002

A real pub. Not a fake pub with special napkins and twee brews, Lucky's is as close as you can get to Manchester in the heart of Southern California. If it were just 30 degrees colder and the bathrooms were outside, it would be authentic in every way. Great pub food--bangers and mash--and a splendid selection of brews. more
