Vegetarians Beware! 11/16/2008

Don't get me wrong. Luciles is a great place with good food and cool ambience but without fail I always get sausage in my potatoes which is excusable once but three times in a row is a little silly. Maybe its my fault and sausage is suppose to be in the home fries. So meat eaters (5 stars) you get bonus sausage in your home fries. Pros: Great ambience. Cons: Long wait times and meat in non-meat dishes. more

One of the best breakfasts in Boulder 10/19/2008

This was a nice little suprise to find. I moved to Boulder 4 years ago and never really knew what this place actually was. Glad I found out. This is THE breakfast place to take guests, ie visitors to Boulder! Pros: Authentic and homemade food. Great atmosphere off the beaten path. Cons: Must be patient to get a table. VERY busy on the weekends in the summer. more

good food but lacks ambience except for the outdoor seating area 8/18/2007

The food at Lucille's is always good, aside from an excessive fondness for cilantro which doesn't belong in creole food. The ambience unfortuantely doesn't match. Indoor, the tables are packed together and it is always stuffy and incredibly noisy. They pretend any table that seats 4 is a ""community table"". A community table that seats a large number of people can be an interesting social experience . If all you want to do is have a quiet lunch with a friend and the only outdoor table available seats 4, the arrogant and offensive insistence of the stat that they could seat some strangers at the table seriously detracts from the dining experience and it really is miserable if they actually do it. It is too obvious that their intent is just to pack as many diners in as possible without regard to the actually dining experience . Pros: good food Cons: interior seating is crowded and noisy with a demonstrable indifference to the ambience more

best creole breakfast 8/17/2007

where else can you get pan fried trout and bernaise over poached eggs. with great homefries and homemade spicy ketchup. atmosphere in house is great and server was fantastic. great spiced tea. the boulder location was better than the longmont spot which is in a house also. just aliitle tweaking on the poached eggs and service. also had the cajun breakfast with the redbeans ...awesome. many choices on menu.always a stop when in boulder. more

Do it 3/17/2007

I am a local and Lucile's is in the top five. Its home setting, location, and food can't be beat. It can get crowded though since it is small. It's worth the wait. Pros: Great setting Cons: may have to wait for a table more

Po' Boy 12/11/2006

The andouille Po' Boy is amazing. As is everything on the menu. The have fantastic orange juice as well. There is always a crowd on the weekends, so plan on a bit of a wait. It is my favorite breakfast place in town! Pros: location, food, service more

Best Cajun Breakfast 6/23/2006

Being a Louisiana native who left well before the hurricanes, this is the closest you will get to a real Cajun/Creole breakfast outside of my wife's kitchen. There is a wait on week-ends even if you go early but the wait is worth it. They have truly captured the flavors and spices of Louisiana cooking. Pros: Taste, generous portions, ambience Cons: Wait time can be long more

Great breakfast! 1/13/2005

I am now living on the east coast, and my friends & I were talking about Mardi Gras coming up, and it made me really miss living in Boulder & going to breakfast at Lucille's! This restaurant is one of the best breakfast places anywhere. Great beignets & chicory coffee! Well worth the wait on a weekend day. more

A great find 7/23/2004

New Orleans is the best breakfast city in the world. Every restaurant, even a dive, can usually serve a decent plate of eggs dressed with hollandaise in some variation. Lucile's is a gem for a great morning meal. The beignets are as good as Cafe du Monde on Jackson Square, fresh and hot. The preserves are homemade, and the chicory cofee hot and bracing. The servings are enormous. The eggs sardou are excellent, with a huge serving of creamed spinach and tasty shrimp. The red beans are as good as you'll ever eat, tender and cooked down into a near paste, thick with slow cooked meat they way they're supposed to be. Lunch special on Monday is genuine N'awlins barbecued shrimp, maybe the best thing to eat on earth. Only drawback is the old house gets a bit crowded and loud, and I'm not a fan of the biscuits. Pros: egg dishes, red beans, barbecued shrimp more

Down-home southern goodness 4/9/2004

If you are looking for a great big plate of cjun yummies, Lucile's is the place to go. From beneits to biscuits and gravy better than Grandma's, you can't lose. For a real treat, try a hot cup of chicory coffee to top off your meal. Pros: great service, terriffic ambience, fantastic food more

Lucile's 9/17/2003

Very good Cajun/Creole food. Love the binettes and Eggs Benedict. Pros: Food, Variety, Price Cons: Crowded more

You've got to check this out! 11/15/2002

Don't just order bacon and eggs - take advantage of the unique dishes. The flavor combinations will impress you! Great non-corporate atmosphere and attentive staff. My favorite pick = eggplant/eggs/benedict dish, cajun potatoes, homemade biscuit w/preserves, strong black coffee. What a fantastic combo! more

A taste of New Orleans! 10/20/2002

When you can't get to New Orleans, get your New Orleans fix at Lucille's! A rare find in Colorado is Beignets and Cafe Au Lait for breakfast or brunch, but treat yourself to this New Orleans classic at Lucille's. Friendly staff helps make your visit a pleasant one. Pros: Delicious food, friendly staff, good parking more

Unique little creole-type eatery 7/29/2002

I've always loved Lucille's. It sits in a little house in Boulder, and has a lovely little porch. Breakfast is NOT your typical greasy spoon fare (so if you're craving good ol bacon and eggs, head over to the Village Coffee Shop instead!). Enjoy a great variation on the typical french toast, yummy spicy sausages and a quaint setting. more

MMMMM 7/23/2002

Great place to eat. Fun atmosphere and great food. Try the biscuts and gravy for a real treat. more
