Lucente Homes

This company has taken over 4 months to return a deposit on an apartment. They claim it is in the mail, but I have never received it and have had to ask multiple times for them to mail it again. I have requested they send it overnight at my expense or at least get a tracking number on it, to which I heard nothing back from them. On top of it, there is no one to handle the finances while Mrs. Lucente is on vacation, so I've had to wait several weeks for her to come back and then been told that she needs ""settling in time"" to return my money. I agree with the original reviewer - this management is at worst trying to keep the deposit or at best completely unprofessional. I had to finally mention small claims and the Better Business Bureau to get any immediate action, though they still refuse to provide a tracking number. Absolutely horrible experience. more

They will try to steal your security deposit. They tried to take mine, and a friend of mine who used to work for them told me they consider security depoists as an extra bonus. They also require you to sign a lease that makes you responsible for steam cleaning and taking care of the walls- this is something that landlord- tenant laws say are the responsibility of the landlord- and will cost you a minimum of $200 more. So figure you are losing your security deposit + $200 if you rent from them and you will have to deal with small claims court, because that is the only reason they give the deposits back. Plus as far as landlords go their maintanence is horrible. During the big snow storms the past two winters it took over 24 hours for them to plow my driveway, I even had to miss work because I could not get out for 30 hours! My steps were crumbling and my 2 year old almost fell down them before they finally ""fixed"" it. When I told them there was an issue they put giant orange highway cones on my steps for 3 weeks before actually patching the steps! Do not rent from these people, they are the trash of Ithaca!
