MY EXPECTATIONS: Went here shopping for a new car, and had a car to sell or trade-in. My trade in was clean, no problems, runs great, etc. I considered it Good to Excellent.
Nada: Rough Trade-In $1225, Average Trade-In: $1900, Clean Trade-In:$2450. Clean Retail: $4200
BlueBook: Excellent $1,800, Good $1,500, Fair $1,000, Retail Value $4,310
Edmunds True Market Value: Trade In:$1,798, Private Party:$2,583, Retail: $3,411
After having a few car dealers estimate the trade in, I was learning they all come in on the low end of these estimates, so I was expecting around $1000 offer from LBS.
The offer came in at $350! LOL! Basically, they want to buy from me for $350, then detail it and try to sell it for $4000. I understand its a business, but come on people! I still laugh when I think about it.
There were only a few cars I was interested in on the lot, and checking them out online with basic research they were OVERPRICED using the same tools and the Retail Values. I wonder where the term Low Book Sales comes from, cause it sure doesn't seem that way?
LONG STORY SHORT on my experience: They will offer you WAY less than your car is worth. They will waste your time with an offer. They will charge you more than the car is worth.
Unless you are SEVERELY DESPERATE to buy or sell a car (i.e. your call wont sell to anyone or you have horrible credit, or...) I wouldn't recommend LBS.
