Lou's LaGrotto

I love going to Lou's LaGrotto. They always have a nice crowd, and there are people of all ages. They often have entertainment, it is nice to go to a casual place and relax over dinner with some live entertainment in the background. The pizza is delicious. There are many choices of toppings and several specialty pizzas. The deep dish pizza is my favorite, but I have also heard the thin crust is good also. They have good sandwiches and salads as well, but two necessary things to get when eating at LaGrotto, are the Garlic nuggets, and the deep fried pickles spears!!! Mmm Mmm Good! I suggest everyone go there at least once. Many sundays there are live bands, so look into Lou's LaGrotto next time you are looking for a good Pizza place! more

Lou's La Grotto is a local favorite of everyone in the Illinois Valley. They are best known for their garlic nuggets, which are simply bread dough with butter, garlic, and parmesan cheese dipped in marinara sauce, and their deep dish pizza. I would suggest trying both if you are a first time customer! All that bread dough fills you up fast, so you will probably be bringing some home. I also enjoy the deep fried pickles, which sound strange but are actually good! The only thing I don't like about La Grotto's is the chicken that they put in their salads and on their fettuccine alfredo - it has the texture of strange, processed chicken. Other than that, this is a great place to try!! more

One of the best features here is that they're open until midnight every day of the week. The pizza is pretty good, especially the buffalo chicken pizza. They have good salads, and a full bar which puts out a respectable long island iced tea. Service is always good; atmosphere is nice, and there is frequently a band or some sort of live entertainment. Definitely a place to try out. more
