Classy, Sexy and Fun! 3/23/2010

The different rooms, multiple DJ's and sexy staff all add to the The Lounge's uniqueness. I loved the fun atmosphere and distinct vibes throughout the different rooms. Great place to people watch, dance and receive AWESOME VIP service!! (easy way to impress out of town guests - my brother was in awe!) Pros: Minneapolis's best kept secret! Cons: Drinks are a little pricey more

Fun place but, needs a bigger crowd 10/14/2009

I have fun at the lounge. They have 3 rooms with different music in each which is nice because it's kind of like bar hopping without going outside. I have always found the staff to be friendly and I enjoy the fact that most of the people who are there are not the drunken college students doing 21 shots on their birthday type. The only negative aspect is that a number of times I have been there and it was really dead. With three separate rooms, they really need to pack the place to make it feel full and sometimes the attendance is just pitiful. I had fun regardless but, would have enjoyed it more if I didn't have that sad "I threw a party and no one showed up" feel. Also, I went on one night when they advertised having belly dancers. I belly dance myself so I thought this would be really cool. However, it ended up being your standard gogo dancers wearing their bras and some kind of long fabric skirt thingy-- not even a proper belly dance costume let alone dance! Seriously, these places have a dress code for patrons, why they can't get their own employees to wear actual costumes instead of cheap lingerie is beyond me! Pros: Fun, good music, nice atmosphere Cons: sometimes empty, gogo dancers look ridiculous, more

Great place to hang out and party! 8/31/2009

The Lounge is one of the best places to party in town! The music was great and the staff was super friendly! My friends and I really enjoyed the atmopshere! I will definelty be returning to The Lounge. Pros: music, friendly staff, great atmosphere Cons: none more

Regular Minneapolis Regular... 2/20/2009

I had a great time hanging out here at first. The dj in the techno room made it very fun to dance and welcomed us nicely. The bartenders on that side were very friendly as well. When my friends and I decided to check out the hip-hop side, things changed. The music was decent, and we met some O.K people. I was sitting near the dance floor talking to a few pretty girls, having a good time. All of a sudden the bouncer came up to me and told me I had to leave. I literally did nothing wrong but was told I was not the type of guy allowed in the club... was it my long hair? I was kicked out of the club and made to wait outside until my credit card was retrieved from the other side of the club so I could pay for my drinks (possibly inflated disrespectfully). I don't know what kind of chip they had on their shoulders, but as a nice guy who isn't the type to disrespect any girl I meet at a club or bar, I was very disappointed in their handling of this situation, and will NEVER go there again. I usually don't write reviews or have comments on these sort of things, but the negativity that came out of this place made a mark on me, and I hope I can convince a few people to avoid this establishment or at least be apprehensive about it because they literally ruined a night for me, and I don't want it to happen to anyone else. Best Regards, - Matt Pros: Great techno DJ. Terrible Worldviews of most staff besides. Cons: Bouncers almost got life.. but not quite.. more

We loved The Lounge 5/12/2008

We were there for a friend's birthday two weeks ago and had an absolute blast! We will for sure be back. Best part of the place was the multiple rooms of different music. Also, the staff was incredibly gracious and the crowd looked amazing. My whole group commented how great this club was for several days afterward. We are going back this weekend and getting a vip table! Pros: people, music, employees Cons: no valet, but there is a ramp close by I guess more

Lame-o!!! 4/13/2008

We were prepared for a rockin' time to celebrate my friend's 29th birthday at The Lounge and were majorly disappointed :-( There was may-be a total of 100 people in the place; not the packed, posh party scene that we were expecting. And dress code??? There didn't seem to be one, which was disappointing enough in and of itself. It felt like being at a bad frat party back when I was 19, which is not an experience that I want to relive at the age of 28. The hip hop room played music that was popular about 15 years ago and the techno room was full of a bunch of deadbeats standing around staring at eachother. We ended up ditching the place about 30 minutes after we got there and headed over to Bootleggers and had a blast over there! The Lounge is an overrated club that's merely trying to keep up; it's glory days are long gone. Pros: Parking, free cover before 10:30 Cons: Pretty much everything else. more

May be I went in a wrong time 1/1/2008

Yes, I was so prepaired to pass a good time, but when I got to this best club in MPLS, I just kept myself from falling asleep! Euro style?????Best DJ????Dress code???? Boy, happilly that I wasn't too dress for it, because may be it is just a Minnesotan thing, may be I don't understand it, but I didn't find this club a winner! First of all DJ didn't say a word, usually DJs have to stimulate an audience, ''kiss .....'' to better describe it. I am talking about my experiences with other clubs in ...... Well I think I just didn't get it... Sorry The Lounge..... Pros: service Cons: Ambience, Parking, more

The best club in Minneapolis... 4/25/2007

I moved here from the east coast about 5 years ago, and The Lounge is the only club worth going to in the Twin Cities. The atmosphere is great, the bartenders are gracious...which is much better than a NYC club. I have been there many times, and have always left having a really fun night. Another plus is the music...the DJs actually know what they are doing! Pros: Music, Atmosphere Cons: Drinks more

So much fun 8/30/2005

I was at The Lounge 2 weeks ago, and again last week. It's been a while since I was there, but it is an awesome time. I planned to just stop in for a drink and ended up staying all night. The DJ/live musician combo was really cool and the go-go dancer was super cute. I'll be back! more

Lounge 8/15/2004

A place where real people go to just be themselves. No hassles and no grief! Just a good all around place to just "chill"!!! Pros: Great Parking, Not too pricey, Nice atmosphere Cons: , N/A, N/A more

Unique Nightspot 7/6/2004

We enjoyed ourselves at The Lounge last weekend. They've redone the interior since the last time I was there. There was also a magician who was really good. That's a clever idea for a nightclub. The Lounge doesn't serve food, but it's a great place to go after dinner. Pros: entertainment, atmosphere more

Going downhill, sad. 12/14/2003

The Lounge use to ensure a great time dancing and drinking and meeting people. Now the crowds are small and uninteresting, the music is lacking, the decor has been toned down, the dress code is gone and this place is nothing special or enticing. more

For a good time, go to The Lounge 1/13/2003

Its not cheap, but you are guaranteed a good time at The Lounge. Great atmosphere, people, drinks and music. The dance floor can get a bit crowded, but that is to be expected at such a swinging spot! more

unfortunately unsophisticated 11/29/2002

You'd think it would be good. It sure looks good, and it's a good idea. Unfortunately, like most Minneapolis bars, it fails miserably. Downtown bars need to stop catering to a suburban crowd who prove, night after night, that wealth and taste rarely coincide. I really want to like this bar but I can't. The concept and the decor are nice but the quality of service and products offered leave much to be desired. I'll stay in Madison, thank you. Pros: nice decor, good location Cons: terrible selection, poor service, poor clientele more

Great 10/26/2002

Great ambience, great people, great dancing, great martinies. I loved it.. more

NY Style in Minneapolis 10/3/2002

Clearly the best club in Minneapolis. For those of us tired of going to "frat boy" clubs where its common place to get drinks spilled on you, this is a most refreshing change. The remodeled dance floor is fantastic, and the DJs are the best in the city. Drink prices and cover is steep for the city, but it keeps out the riff-raff. Dress well, enjoy the pretty people, and party like you're in NYC. more

Great place to meet up with friends 10/1/2002

I love the Lounge it got class, great music, large dance floor and of course a place to just Lounge and talk with friends. more

Vegas-esque 9/11/2002

Multiple rooms, ample space, designer bartenders, tasty martininis and that random percussionist on the upper deck qualify the Lounge as Minneapolis' best answer to a Las Vegas club. Pros: Great music, well-dressed patrons, bartenders in kilts Cons: smaller dance floor, goofy bathrooms more

You ain't rich enough to be here. 5/22/2002

I don't appreciate the rules at this place. For instance, if I'm paying an $8 cover charge, I'll wear whatever I damn please. I'd spent $12 before I got my hands on a beer...I immediately felt out-of-place with the neverending supply of Minneapolis' finest fake-ass yuppie rich wannabe folks. Positives: cool decorations. Negatives: staff in need of a MAJOR attitude adjustment. Pros: Cool decorations Cons: $$$$, You ain't rich enough, Dress code is bogus more
