Depending on what you are looking for in a dinner, Louis' offers exceptional pizza with a low key atmosphere. While there are a few good sit down style pizzerias around Detroit , ...

Excellent Pizza that is worth the 30 minute wait. 6/9/2008

Their waitstaff is nothing to write home about. Think Burger King type of attitude. Kind of makes you feel like they are doing you a favor by being there. Other than that it is great. I continue to go back regularly, just wish the waitstaff was different. Pros: Pizza and house dressing Cons: Waitstaff, Waitstaff, Waitstaff, and parking a little bit. more

delicious food 5/14/2008

The Manager and his sfaff were so polite, prices are fair and the food was great!! Congratulations to them! You should try the peperoni pizza or the meatballs & spaghetti with fresh tomatoes sauce...I will certainly visit them again!! more

Loui's is better than Shield's AND Buddy's because he's worked for both! 2/18/2008

You know, Loui has worked for BOTH Buddies AND Shield's pizza places. So, his food (especially his pizza) takes the best of both and puts it forward. His pizza is like Buddy's ON STEROIDS. DON'T MISS OUT on this place!! Salads are great too; all the pasta is fresh made in homemade sauce. Pros: Better than Buddy's AND Shield's because he's worked for both!! Cons: Cons? What cons??!!!! more

best pizza around 8/6/2006

Dont listen to any negitive reviews here, they might had a surprizing bad outing there, but, trust me, best pizza and salads around. the service is average at best though. more

Loui's himself and the Pizza are BAR NONE! 6/13/2006

I have been eating here since I was a little tike. I am in my 30's now and I will shoot you real straight when I say this....LOUI'S IS THE BEST ANYWHERE!!! I live in MI for 25 years and loved Loui's Pizza ALL OF THEM. I have live in CA the past 5 years and have NEVER found a pizza to compare even CLOSE to Loui's. When I used to go to Loui's (once a week, like church) he would always make sure to come say hi to me....where does that happen anymore....the Antiposto Salad is INCREDIBLE too! Its not the hottest looking place and parking is terrible....but the reward inside is worth it. Thanks for the memories Loui's!!!! Pros: PIZZA!!! SALADS!!! Cons: Parking, Decor more

Simply the best! 5/10/2006

Once again i must add that the only place to go for pizza is Louis....I will be back in MI next year and hope to bring back some frozen deep dish back to FL...we wish Louis the best this year.. Pros: Hot Fresh Polite staffneed I say more? Cons: none, none, none more

LOUIS THE BEST!!!! 4/19/2006

Have been going to Louis for years.. Grew up eating pizza at loui's on McNichols.. The only DEEP dish we will eat.. more

Not the best location-but the best food. 4/14/2006

The pizza takes a while to get to you (it is well worth the wait however) so have an antipasto salad with the house dressing, it is superb! The beer is cold but the glasses are way too small so either get a pitcher or constantly reorder. (Especially if you are a beer and pizza person.) The staff eats here after closing so the food has to be good. Pros: Food, Salads, Fun place Cons: Location, Closes to early more

yuck what were they thinking...... 3/9/2006

The Pizza is mediocre at best, the waitstaff is older then the building and also sucks... The salads are pretty good though... Pros: large seating capacit, salads Cons: pizza, waitstaff, customers(trash) more

Pizza that gives new meaning to PIZZA 1/11/2006

My sister lived in Detroit, and Louis was always a must! We all live in Massachusetts now. So how do I get Louis? I have it Fed-Exed from Hazel Park to my door step. Louis thought it was a crank call the first time. Louis is clearly the best pizza I have ever had. It is good enough to ship Overnight at the extra expense. I LOVE LOUIS PIZZA. Pros: AntiPasto, Pizza, Antipasto & Pizza Cons: Detroit, Massachusetts, FED-EX more

Loui's has ALWAYS been #1 10/23/2005

Growing up between the original Buddy's and Shields in Detroit, I was lucky to have Loui's pizzas nearby. My family later followed him to his own restaurant in Hazel Park. His pizza recipe NEVER let me down. No comparison anywhere to the pizzas and antipasto. Living in NC now, a group trip to Loui's is ALWAYS on my agenda when I visit twice a year. Although I believe family and friends are also glad to see me when I visit, one of the first questions is always ""When are we going to Loui's?"" Pros: pizza, antipasto, waitstaff Cons: parking more

The Best Pizza Ever!!!! 10/15/2005

I have grown up on Loui's Pizza and became spoiled by this taste sensation. Even though I live out of state now, one of the first things I have to do is get pizza from Loui's. We always buy a larger pizza than normal simply because we can take some extra pieces home. It's almost better after the cheese and sauce has marinated!!! The only bad thing about Loui's is that it's closed during the time around Christmas through New Years Day. They don't realize how much money they would make with families getting together for the holidays. ( I can live with it being closed Monday & Tuesday.) FORGET THE REST...THIS IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: Pizza, Pizza!, Pizza!! Cons: Closed on Mon & Tues, Closed btw Xmas & 1/1, Parking more

This is the best 7/28/2005

Absolutley the Best Pizza I've ever had. Nothing compares! Someone here said their food was greasy and the sauce was bland. They make their Sauce's in house! With Fresh, Real ingrediants(Spices). Real extra virgin olive oil(I think). How can someone call that bland or greasy? What, because they don't throw some hot sauce in it and try to call it extra spicy? Loui's chooses to make everything on their Menu from Real Food. Not factory produced, dried out, canned garbage, like every other pizza place in town. Pros: Best Pizza/Salad, Best Italian Dishes, High Quality Food! Cons: small parking lot, extra busy sometimes, gettin' busier more

Loui's Is Number One No Doubt About It 7/26/2005

No Better Pizza And Antipasto Salads Then At Loui's Also A Great Place To Take The Family. Pros: great pizza, great salads Cons: parking more

old world pizza king 7/19/2005

louis is the pizza to die for.they have been in business ever since i can remember.louis is the original buddies pizza recipe and also shields.if you long for that old taste look no futhur.the salad dressing is the best and everything is homemade and fresh.they are only open wed-sun,11-10.you wont be let down.great prices, pizza, atmosphere and service, very clean and consistant.they are often mistaken for others but there is only one louis..........hes really the king of all pizzas!!! location-hazel park, mich. one block north of nine mile on dequindre. Pros: pizza, salad, pasta, clean and consistant, crowded, well known Cons: parking more

Absolute treasure 6/7/2005

Louie has been making great pizza for 35 years in Detroit. I remember eating his great pizza at the old Shield's Bar on Davison as a kid! If you eat one piece, you'll be ruined for life. Nothing else comes close. My family now drives 85 miles one way to eat at Louie's, and we are never disapointed Pros: pizza, antipasto salad, more pizza more

Absolute Best Pizza in Metro Detroit 5/27/2005

Don't be fooled by ""surveys"" that rate others as having the best pizza. My family's dearly-beloved best-pizza-place, Loui's, has kept itself under the radar over the years. Unlike most, Loui's has not branched out into chains, or even renovated to give more space to its crowded dining room (and parking area!). Until very recently, it was cash-only, no cards allowed! The pizza is ambrosia. Choose the 4-piece smalls, more than one if you need to, for then you get 2 sides of yummy crust on each piece. Most people can't eat more than 2 pieces. The home-made antipasto dressing is so good, they used to bottle & sell it. The waitresses are career staff that virtually never screw up an order. One small problem: the cozy dining room gets noisy with conversation. If you take someone who's hearing impaired, it can be hard for them to hear your chat. Pros: pizza, antipasto, wait staff Cons: parking, not 4 hearing impaird, closed Mon,Tue more

How did I not hear of this place before? 4/16/2005

One day after shopping at Wonderland Mall I was hungry. The food court there didn't turn me on, so I decided to go south on Dequindre and see what was available. I saw Loui's and pizza sounded good to me so I gave it a shot. I'm glad I did, it's delicious! Pros: pizza, ambience, location more

BEST OF DETROIT.. BEST ANYWHERE!!! 3/31/2005

There is nothing like a Loui's Pizza. Our family has been eating Loui's since I can remember, and I now visit with my husband and kids once every few months. Pizza and salad are like no other. more

Just a GREAT Meal...BEST PIZZA IN TOWN....PERIOD! 2/22/2005
