Surprise Birthday Party at Lost Parrot Cabins 2/4/2012

My husband and two daughters planned a surprise birthday party for me at the Lost Parrot. What a wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived we fell in love with it. The colorful cabins decorated with Talavera tile in the bath, kitchen and also throughout the property, the beautiful Guatemalan textiles decorating the beds, and futon pillows and rugs were all a feast for the eyes. The entire place was so fun and beautiful! The beds were comfortable, the balcony and hammocks, the amazing views were just the perfect setting for a lively family time. The cabin was very clean and spacious, filled with light coming through the many windows. This ""Margaritaville"" oasis owes it's beauty and success to the owners Cliff and Cat who so lovingly have created the perfect get-a-way. Their commitment to their guests' enjoyment and relaxation shows in every detail. The photos you see on the website are every bit true. You will be amazed!! more

The Worst Vacations we've ever taken 6/14/2010

While staying at the lost parrot we were the only people staying at the Lost Parrot we were not offered breakfast for the three days we were there. . Whom ever takes the reservations it is literally impossible to get ahold of. I don't now if it's the Inn keeper or reservations but even after leaving several messages which were not returned, I finally got a call back a week later. The Inn Keeper did not give us much privacy when we came to relax on the deck, the pool and hot tub were both so filthy we couldn't enjoy ether the pool nor the hot tub for fear of getting a flesh eating bacteria. The Inn Keeper put is in the WRONG LESS EXPENSIVE CABIN!! NOT THE CABIN WE BOOKED. The Inn Keepers always questioned us as to where our comings and goings when we left the property ( WE WERE ON VACATION AND WANTED TO EXPLORE THE CITY!) and once The Innkeeper ASKED US THE GUESTS OF THEIR CABINS TO GO GET THEM SOMETHING TO EAT FOR DINNER FOR THEM!!! The Lost Parrot is a beautiful place to stay, but there is no staff on property, the AC is a wall until that neither cools well in the summer and the electric fireplace provided no heat in the winter ( we visited twice because we loved the property, hoping the service had gotten better, but our hopes were crushed) the Innkeepers are simply irresponsible and don't take care of their guest. It doesn't even seem like they care about booking their cabins seeing as both times we stayed we were the only people there and it took over 2 weeks for us to get a call back from the reservations/Inn keeper to call me back to book a cabin. Lost Parrot Cabins is nice on the eyes, but a disaster every where else. We weren't able enjoy ether one of stays at The Lost parrot. And the cabins are HIGHLY OVERPRICED, we could have stayed at a 5 star resort or a 5 star hotel ,had our privacy ( which we requested more than once) and all the accommodations we needed. If you want to stay at a bed and breakfast, I wouldn't pick this one. There are several Bed and Breakfast's on Lake Travis. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE WASTING YOU'RE TIME AND MONEY on this B&B..check out the other B&B's on the lake. Pros: nice cabins but overpriced..other than that NONE Cons: Rude Inn keepers, NO BREAKFAST was served, bad location more

PERFECT GET AWAY TO NIRVANA 12/25/2008

My new husband and I chose Lost Parrot Cabins as our honeymoon destination.... were we ever blown away by the sights and sounds. The colors, the art work, the owners... all awesome.... we actually never wanted to leave. We highly recommend that anyone reading the reviews of the cabins give this oasis from the real world, a try. If I had to choose one word to describe the Lost Parrot Cabins I would say nirvana. My husband and I plan to return every chance we get for the rest of our lives. \r \r Jessica and Darren Edge (November 2008) Pros: Cat and Cliff (the inkeepers) more

Cool & Funky Austin Hideaway.... 7/6/2008

All we can say is.... Wow!\r We were looking for a nice place to stay over the fourth of July on Lake Travis in Austin. We waited too late and all of the lake houses were booked. We stumbled across the Lost Parrot Cabins and are so glad we did! The cabins are nestled away in the hills near Lake Travis. Although they are not waterfront, they are in a great outdoor setting with a beautiful hill country view. The cabins are charming and very ecletic, very Austin like! The property owners are wonderful and made sure our stay was a memorable one. There was live acoustic music one evening poolside which was the perfect way to end a fun filled weekend. We strongly recommend staying at the Lost Parrot Cabins. It is a unique experience you won't find anywhere else. Pros: Secluded, outdoor paradise Cons: No lake access, steep charge if you have more than 2 people per cabin more

Most beautiful and unique B&B 3/28/2008

My boyfriend and I just visited Lost Parrot Cabins and had a wonderful, relaxing time. Very Carribean-like, charming, funky, fun and the perfect place to sit back and enjoy. You are so close to everything you need yet have the feeling of being far away. The service is fantastic! We were able to bring our dog, listen to the great Saturday night band and truly relax. Thanks Lost Parrot! We will definitely be back many many times. Pros: pet friendly, beautiful bungalows and facilities more

MOST UNUSUAL OUT OF THE WAY PLACE. GREAT BAND ON SAT. NITE 4/8/2007

STAYED HERE MANY TIMES, HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE EVERY TIME! JUST GET'S BETTER WITH EACH STAY! MY VERY FAVORITE PLACE TO STAY IN AUSTIN! Pros: JUST AN ALL AROUND GREAT EXPERIENCE Cons: NO LOUNGE, BUT SOME CLOSE BY more

The real feel of old Austin 3/29/2007

We have stayed at Lost Parrot several times. The cabins and grounds could not be cooler or more comfortable. The innkeepers, Cat and Cliff, are Austin treasures and always find a way to make your stay more fun. Pros: Hospitality more

Lost Parrot Cabins is where you'll wish you could be when you are not even in Austin! 3/28/2007

Lost Parrot Cabins is my favorite roost in Texas. The atmosphere is mellow and casual... like Austin used to be. It is an incredible patch of paradise tucked away so well you'd never know you were in a major city. \r \r The innkeepers, Cat and Cliff, are people we want to go to see again and again - and do. They are genuinely nice people in addition to being efficiently professional.\r The service is outstanding. The special little touches leave you feeling quite pampered, yet at home. \r .\r Nothing is more pleasant than kicking back and relaxing at Lost Parrot. The most amazing thing about it is that being there just ""feels good"". Romantic liaisons, honeymooners, grandparents with children or cats, singles with dogs or business trips... I have honestly never seen anybody leave Lost Parrot disappointed.\r \r As remote as it feels, you are only moments from shopping, great entertainment, and excellent dining too. The hot tub, party deck, pool, nature trail, palm trees, flowers, murals everywhere, coupled with the warm ambiance of the decor (every cabin is different) will keep your senses busy. (Good Grief! I have begun to gush!)\r \r Eclectic, artsy, fun, it is a feast of color and playfulness. I do recommend the Lost Parrot Experience wholeheartedly. \r \r Be warned however, once is never enough! more

Great Place to Chill while in Austin! 3/28/2007

This is a totally cool and funky place to stay when in Austin! Close to the lake and easy to get to town and the best cabins around! We stayed 3 nights and had a great time! more

Best place to relax/friendliest hosts 3/28/2007

We found Lost Parrots by accident online and when we visited from Vancouver last year. We spent a weekend there, and wished we could stay longer. The cabins are clean and beautiful, the property is quaint and private, and Cat and Cliff are fantastic hosts! We loved it so much we're getting married there in June '07! And we're dragging 30 people there from Canada to do it! How can you love a place more than that? more

A terrific hideaway retreat! 3/28/2007

I found The Lost Parrot Cabins on line. It's website promised an artsy, funky, fun retreat; and that's exactly what it was!\r Each room is an individual cabin. They're all decorated differently, but in the same style.... filled with interesting art pieces, and paintings. You can tramp through the Texas junipers and scrub oaks, take a dip in the pool, or just sit on your cabin porch and listen to the woods around you. The service was great! Friendly and genuine. Everything you need is there.\r If you want suggestions or directions to adventures in town, they're readily given. If you're looking to get away, for a little while.... I've never found a better place to go. Pros: Wonderful ambiance. Very romantic Cons: A little far out from downtown, if you're mostly interested in the club scene/ night life more
