Los Hermanos

The ""old"" Los Hermanos is back -- and that is a good thing! For years Los Hermanos was a favorite of our family and friends and then something happened (new cook/management?) and it went downhill. Well, they have returned to the fabulous restaurant they used to be. A group of 12 of us went there about a month ago (6 from the Bay area) and every single one of us raved about our meals. I had the Francisco burrito which was fabulous and my husband had the chicken fajitas which were cooked to perfection. The margaritas were great and our waiter, was friendly and attentive. As busy as they were, our service was great and we have been back twice since then. When you step into the restaurant, you feel like you have entered a tropical paradise with the huge aquarium, palm trees, ""sand"" floors, and authentic decor. If you haven't tried Los Hermanos, it is worth the drive -- and if you haven't been there in a while, give it another chance. more

I recently moved to Pollock Pines and the wife and I were looking for a good place to eat. We first went to Los Hermanos on Wednesday night to enjoy a drink. They have a 2 for 1 Special every Wednesday. We couldn't believe it! We had already had dinner this night but after smelling the sizzling fajitas that another couple was enjoying just down the bar we had to come back. We came in the following Saturday to sit in the restaurant and all I can say is Wow! The decor is beautiful with over 20 brightly colored fish swimming around the fish tank and the faux sand and palm trees, we felt like we were on a beach in Mexico. As for the food, simply fantastic. I ordered the Steak Fajitas and my wife ordered a Carnitas plate. Both were great. The Carnitas was tender and full of flavor. We couldn't of been happier with our meals. Upon entering the restaurant we were greated by a very friendly young lady who immediately took us to a nice booth by the window. Our server was very prompt at getting our drink order, (arrogant bastard for me, don julio margarita for her), as well as the food order. He was very kind and we had a great conversation whilst he prepared a fresh guacamole dip at our table. If anyone is passing through Pollock Pines heading to Tahoe we highly recommend you stop at Los Hermanos. more

I've never had such tender carnitas and the wife loved her chicken fajitas. Plus they have at least 20 tequilas, even my favorite asombroso! I had heard bad things in the past but Los Hermanos has new mangement and the best mexican food I;ve had it years. We will be back! more

""We arrived 8 PM to find half the tables crammed in the middle of room to make room for a band that sounded great but there wasn't enough room for people moving around the bar area (kids in bar area), the beer was served in warm glasses from the dishwasher and we asked for cold mugs and they told us they were out as we looked around we saw one mug. We called for the manager to resolve the situation and she talked down to us and wanted us to pay for the flat warm beer and threatened to make us leave because I didn't want to pay for 2 beers that we refused to drink, so we left."" Cons: Atmosphere bad more
