Indie Flicks 8/14/2005

A small, low-key theatre located in downtown Los Gatos, I recommend this theatre for all indie film fans! This is the place that reminds you of what theatres used to be before they became national or international chains charging ridiculous prices! Very often LG Cinemas has double screenings -- two movies for the price of one. What could be better than that on a slow Sunday afternoon?! more

Classical and cheaper 8/5/2005

This could be considered a historical landmark. The renovated theater carries an art deco style but still can pack a good amount of people within its theaters. While other theaters might be bigger, this one still plays the mainstream films but also several arthouse or indie films get put into the playlist here. Other theaters like Century Shoreline or AMC Mercado are $8 for student but the LGC is only $7 with student ID. Definitely worth coming out to catch the classic movies that replay on the big screen. more

Old fashioned movie theater for old fashioned fun 4/21/2005

Maybe I was born 50 years too late, but I have a soft spot for wonderful small theaters that show an interesting array of films. Every town has one, and big cities often have a pile of them, but each is unique and wonderful. Los Gatos Cinema is no exception to this rule, with a delightful array of well-selected foreign and arts films that the more mainstream theaters pass over for the sake of blockbuster films. Real popcorn, really fresh, and reasonably priced tickets and drinks top off the feel of the place. Drop by for a double feature show sometime, they're always worth it! more
