Lore Decorators

After reading consumer reviews on sites like this and seeing that New York Magazine had recommended Lore Decorators as ""Best Bargain Upholsterer"" we thought we'd give them a try. We gave them a 3rd generation wing back chair to reupholster. A ""sub-par attempt"" the first time out of the gate, we requested that they ""make good"". Uneven and irregular shaping of the chairs scalloped back, poor stitch-work, seat cushioning and reversal of the fabric, to name a few. It took 2 weeks to get the owner to come and take a look at the chair. When he finally arrived, he begrudgingly agreed that the quality of their work was questionable and that they would take the chair back and ""make good"". 2 months later, they were waiting on fabric, which lead me to believe they tried to fix it without replacing the fabric and failed. 3 1/2 months and they finally delivered the chair. The work was much improved. The finishing is much closer to what we originally expected. We still had some issue with the seat cushioning and the shape of the top of the chair (things we had brought to their attention more then once) but had they delivered this chair to us originally we would have lived with it. The final product was acceptable for the price but not worth the journey. more

After missing two pick up times where I waited for them to arrive I just got a phone message saying that they don't want to do the job. I am very upset that they kept me waiting on a very important time sensitive job. They should have told me they did not want my business weeks ago. Very unprofessional more

We do a lot of work with Lore and are very happy. The company is very reliable and the pricing very reasonable. Definatly good if you need to reupholster something or want to order window treatments. The work is Ok, not top quality but nice enough for what they charge. Pros: great value and super reliable, great for the money Cons: quality could be better more

This family owned business and it's employees are fantastic!! I have used them to make window seats, pillows, reupholster sofas and chairs. The service provided by the staff (punctual service, in-home measurements, pick up and delivery), Flo (in the past) Mr. Lore and Frankie is patience and professionalism. I had a small upholstery job that I needed to have done. I originally went to a local decorator specializing in working with fabrics. It took weeks to arrange an appointment. When we finally met, the woman could not have shown less enthusiasm for the job, she just kept asking about my budget. She quoted me $7000.00 for the re-upholstery of two seating cushions, and four loose pillows and the creation of an additional seating cushion and four additional loose pillows.
