Best

My experience at LUH for Day Surgery was fantastic. The staff was friendly and efficient. I was in and out as anticipated and my pain was managed well.

Worst

my sister recently had to have her appendix removed at LUH and I believe they took advantage of her not having insurance and she was not treated well. They called her by the wrong...

LUH ER - DO NOT GO 5/15/2014

DO NOT go to LUH Emergency room for service. They do not employ their own doctors, they use rent a doctor and they do not know what they are doing. I had gone to Longmont Clinic Urgent Care on a Saturday afternoon and was told that it was my Gallbladder and sent me over to LUH ER department to run the blood work and ultra sound. The ER Dr. told me that it was fatty liver and was going to send me home with pain meds. The on-call surgeon happened to get out of surgery and stopped by to examine me and said that I was going nowhere that it was my gallbladder and that it needed to come out. The ER doctor was incompetent and had the nerve to charge me for Level 5 care. I was there for over 3 1/2 hours and saw him maybe a total of 5 minutes that whole time and he had the nerve to charge me the top level of care. I've instructed my family to NEVER take me to LUH ER!! The hospital staff I dealt with after I was admitted and the care I received after my surgery was wonderful but I will never us more

Avoid Longmont United 1/3/2012

Do not go to Longmont United Hospital on holidays or weekends. They do not have the staff available or on call to take care of patient needs. I left worse than I was when I went in, and believe me, I'd rather die here on my couch than go there again. Take the higher ambulance bill and go to Boulder or Loveland. Somewhere they have dr's actually on call. I was given meds that I tried to refuse, telling them I'd tried that before, and it just made me more ill. I spent 6 hours during the night when I recieved no care, aside from the nurses telling me, "I'm waiting to hear back from the dr." The story gets worse, but too long for here. They did their best to not help me. I'll complete their complaint process, and if I'm not satisfied with the result, we'll hit every media outlet in the area. Watch for upcoming facebook page dedicated to this issue. The 'caring experience' has to change here in Longmont. more

clowns 12/7/2010

The emergency room failed to diagnose my dislocated shoulder. They claimed it was just a bruise. I spent 3 weeks in agony with dislocated shoulder. The recovery after that was beyond awful. Also, they failed to properly clean my other wounds and they all got infected. I spend 4 hours in the emergency room and they could not diagnose a dislocated shoulder in 4 hours! more

Almost killed me 11/7/2010

Worst hospital ever. I came in on a Sunday morning at 7am with severe abdominal pain and was treated like a drug seeker due to my tattooed appearance. Many half assed tests were performed and they said there is nothing wrong with me and they admitted me for observation. No one saw me until the next morning after a night from hell and ran tests with contrast. A meckles divriticulum had burst overnight and I was rushed into emergency surgery! I asked why I wasn't being treated that night they said it's Sunday they are closed and there were no doctors that could see me. Thanxs for almost ending my life! I hate Longmont! more

Keep driving on to the next hospital 9/28/2009

I have had to deal with the ER on 3 separate occasions, the last two of which were terrible experiences. There is one nurse there whom I have dealt with twice and she is one of the least empathetic people I have come across in my life. Recently, we brought our 18th month old in after he had a fever induced seizure, they barely even examined him, instead of pulling the wax out of his ear and seeing that he had an ear infection and prescribing him an anti-biotic (which happened when we took him to the Dr a day later) they made my husband stay for hours only to do nothing for our son. I swore I would never go back there after the last time (they kept telling me I had postpartum depression when I went in for a possible Pulmonary embolism!) Stay away from this hospital at all costs! more

You'll wish you'd never sought care here 9/15/2009

There is a reason three floors of this hospital are empty. The word is out that this place is just plain horrible. There are a few good people here but I had every bad experience from a nurse telling me I was "vibing" my way to sickness to a beyond confused, horrible, mixed up billing department that never resolved problems. Be particularly careful of Patrick in billing. He is a supervisor, but won't resolve issues and will flat out lie to cover himself. If you have problems not receiving bills, don't think that calling these people will resolve it. If you've got a problem with billing, you can try their patient care program, but they rely on the supervisor-the very one who created the problem to begin with-to resolve it. So you're really left without a resolution. Besides the monsters running things in the billing department, their emergency room is horrible. I argued with them for four hours about being sick-they kept telling me I was having an anxiety attack and just needed to take more

beware should have negative stars 5/27/2008

LUH charged me 25thousand without insurance for appendix. I was left in such horrible pain that I was sobbing and praying for God to take me loud enough that I woke the person next to me, unintentionally I really didn't know what I was doing I was in such agony I couldn't help myself. Several years later I had a mammogram that was billed thru LUH they did 12 shots of my left breast, 9 of the right, way over whats safe( 1 per breast) I had pain in my breast for a year after that, never before, was suppose to receive a small refund instead my husband was told We'll destroy you both of you by billing more

Be extra cautious if you don't have insurance 10/8/2007

my sister recently had to have her appendix removed at LUH and I believe they took advantage of her not having insurance and she was not treated well. They called her by the wrong name almost everytime they walked into her room which shows a lack of truly caring for someone!!! more

Wonderful Maternity Ward 7/28/2005

I had my youngest son at LUH in March of 2005. It was a wonderful experience. The rooms are great, the staff is very friendly and helpful and they make sure you are prepared when you leave. The maternity ward is secure so you don't have to worry about your new little one either. Overall, I had a fantastic experience here. The only complaint I have with the hospital in general is the billing department. I received several bills due to being admitted for non-stress testing before the actual delivery. I paid them all right away, but for a while I still got the same bill once each week until I called and cleared it up. However, with a new baby, the hospital bill was low on my priority list. When it turned out I had overpaid, though, they weren't nearly as quick to get the check in the mail. more
