Long Island Shooting Ctr Ltd

I was on the market for a 9mm Carbine for my wife for home defense purposes. I have shopped and purchased all our firearms at Chesters' in Ronkonkoma, but decided to give this place a try. Every review posted in this forum is correct - these folks are not knowledgeable and extremely rude. During the purchase of the Carbine I chose, the gentleman ran my credit card prior to filling out and reviewing my ATF form (which is not a correct process). So AFTER they ran my credit card, then they (Mike the owner) scrutinized my license and ATF form to the point I thought they were questioning my credibility. Not only was I in my business attire (a suit as I am an executive with Southside Hospital) but I was respectful and well spoken. I got so frustrated I asked to cancel the transaction. They then had the nerve to say that there was a $30 ""stocking fee"" which they could not refund!!!! I was so fed up with their down right ill mannerisms, I said that I didn't care. I then left and went to Chesters in Ronkonkoma. Which as always proceed to treat me with respect and are just a wonderful friendly group of folks and purchased the same Carbine that same day (for a bit of a higher price - but did not mind at all). I AM A 10 YEAR MARINE CORPS VETERAN; therefore as for the earlier comment from another reviewer about ""sensitive people"", I am not used to being ""cuddled"" by anyone around firearms. The customer service is down right horrible in this place! As my experience was so bad, I will never return. more

I went to zero my rifle, so I paid for a stall and target and went in the range area. My rifle had an immediate malfunction, and could not fire a round. I went back outside and told the man standing behind the counter I was done and could not fire a round. Since I was only in there about 3 minutes, I asked for my money back. No was the answer! How about a store credit, I will come back after I fix the rile and shoot later, again, NO was the answer. I called and talked to the owner and he said that was the policy and sorry I felt that way! I am a LIFE Member of the NRA and a Retired Veteran and I will NEVER go back there!!! more

The owner is rude, obnoxious, unprofessional and may be bipolar. It's almost like he wants to fight with everyone that comes in! He is Not the type of person that should own a gun and most certainly not the kind of person who should sell firearms. The shop and the range are full of Unethical Business Behavior. check out all the other Reviews on the web the only good ones are planted by the staff. more

I don't care how many of ""their"" people they have posting good reviews it will not change the fact that the current owner(s) have no idea of what customer service is. Do a search for ""Long Island Firearms"" it's a website dedicated to Long Island gun enthusiasts and you will see what people think about the place of course they have their plants posting favorable experiences there or some people that caught them on a good day but I will never step foot in their door again unless it changes hands. more

I read the reviews on here and agree with the ""bear"" guy, the store is huge, the customer service was excellent, the fact that they have an indoor range at ground level is a home run. Not sure why ""Jack360"" has such a hard on for the place. This is a gun store, not a hobby shop. If you want to be coddled while you decide for two hours whether or not to spend $10.00 to buy a box of reloads or if that will impact your overall budget too severly - then you are in the wrong sport champ! Try building model airplanes or collecting used stamps - probably more in line with your intellect and physique. These guys treated me with professionalism and respect, but then again I came to the store with money in my pocket, a good idea of what I wanted to buy and a clean record, (NO CRIMINAL HISTORY). I would say find out for yourself, don't listen to me or to the pantloads above, go into the store and find out on your own. You decide for yourself. I agree with JSTEIN that the positive review was a plant. everbody on Long Island should be aware that this place should be avoided. At first glance you might think it would be good place because it is large and they have a range, but the people make the difference. A totally unpleasant place to do business. One of the best gun shops on Long Island! These guys know their stuff, professional gun people from the word go. Excellent prices, handguns, long guns, holsters, ammo, knives, accessories and hunting equip. A huge store that has something for everyone. Including an indoor range and a huge showroom. Pros: Big showrrom, plenty of parking and expert gunsmithing. Cons: If you have thin skin - stay home! more

This place is a joke - don't even think about buying a firearm here. The gunsmithing services are farmed out to the high school shop class. Low class Dishonest management. Pros: Can easily be avoided and should be Cons: The owner is neanderthal, poor service, dishonest, rude, expensive more
