Fun for Kids! 8/7/2006

We go to the Long Island Children's Museum every year and my kids love it! There are lots of exhibits for them to play with. My son love sthe Climb It, which is a ramp that winds it's way up to the ceiling and the kids climb up on different levels all the way to the top. My daughter loved the bubble exhibits where you can make all kinds of bubbles and even step inside a bubble! She also liked the roomt they set aside for preschoolers. It has all kinds of things for the littlest ones to do. There is a section where you can build with blocks, and one where you can actually make something with wood and take it home. It's pretty large and clean, and has a decent cafeteria with vending machines. Some camps go during the summer, but you hardly notice them. If you live in the area, it pays to get a membership so your kid's can go as much as they want. more

take your kids here 9/11/2005

This is a great place to take your kids they encourage the kids to play with everything. The whole museum is at the chalderns level which is a plus. It is a great learning experience that they love to take part in. Best part is that the kids are exhausted when they leave so with any luck they pass out on the way home. The only down side is the exhibit where the child stands in the middle of a bubble when it pops it tends to get all over the child think blowing bubbles in the backyard multiplied by 100x more bubble mixture. But they are kids they are supposed to be messy when they have fun. more

Great for Kids 8/9/2005

My children love the Long Island Childrens Museum. They've got all sorts of interesting exhibits all geared towards kids - they'll have a great time because it's all hands on. They do birthday parties here as well which the kids will enjoy. My favorite is the Bubble Exhibit - you can make HUGE bubbles. Parents will have fun as well. All in all, a great family fun day - something great to do on a rainy day! But beware, those are the most crowded days! more

Great fun for the kids 8/2/2005

LICM has recently been completely redesigned. It's exhibits are almost all hands-on oriented, so kids will stay focused, and maybe even learn a thing or two! A big favorite would have to be the Bubbles exhibit, explaining how bubbles are formed, and featuring huge wands for dipping bubbles. Changes and Challenges is also an eye-opening experiences, which allows able-bodied kids to see how challenged people must adapt their abilities to functio in everyday life. Lots of interesting exhibits that will keep the kids busy for many hours. more

Fun for the kids. 7/30/2005

The Long Island Children's Museum has rotating exhibits that are geared toward kids and are highly interactive as well. One example is a station where you can make a huge soap bubble around yourself. Kids under age 11 are sure to have a great time visiting each exhibit. This is a great place for school trips and family trips alike. Parents will have fun watching their children learning and having a good time at the same time. The staff is always friendly, helpful and willing to explain to your child whatever he/she has questions about. more

long island childrens museum 7/18/2005

Long island childrens museum is a hands-on museum for kids AND their grownups. You'll find places to PLAY, LEARN and have FUN. Vending machine food and beverages only are available in the cafeteria- so you really can not spend all day here. They offer popular TotTunes programs that are designed exclusively for the younger set. You and your children can expect to spend many happy hours participating in all of these innovative programs. more
