Lone Star Floors-Sugar Land

We hired Lone Star Floor?s to refinish our floor and to do some work on an original wooden staircase. The project was a disaster. The salesman began by measuring the floor and intentionally mis-measuring by adding several feet in each direction. Yes, people make mistakes, but this was an attempt to overcharge us. The men then worked for two days and were incompetent. We are not sticklers for perfection, but this was a C or D grade job. The floor has nicks all over, the coatings/colors are applied unevenly, and they made a mess far beyond what any other contractor has done before or since. The men were also arrogant (they treated my wife very rudely). In short, Lone Star takes no pride in its work and is the classic dishonest contractor we all fear. I thought I was getting good quality hardwood for the price I paid, however, based on my experiences with their sales people and customer relations people I now know it was just a cheap Chinese substitute for quality! My main request was to nothing from China! The Chinese don?t have the same environmental concerns, control or guidelines as US/UK. This is the worse retail outlet I have ever dealt with. Terrible experience! My antique furniture was damaged (they said they didn't do it though it was perfect before they got there-just because it's obviously old doesn't mean it wasn't previously in great condition!) the floor was improperly installed and it did not arrive on time. My husband contracted lone star floors to replace all floors in a 3500+ sq ft home. The job was started late due to delay in receiving the floor tile, the workers showed up for only a couple hours the first few days and then disappeared for the next 3 days forcing the contractor to bring in a different crew. The wrong tile was put in kitchen and had to be replaced (more delays) and then was not set properly (uneven) when 2nd crew started (very unprofessional). Even though the original wood floor had been taken up, the contractor did not properly check the concrete slab condition during pre-job inspection/estimation and was discovered to be severely uneven in places and not enough time was allowed to correct the problem - used excessive amounts of float in attempt to correct. Tiles now have hollow sound and wood floor is coming loose in some areas. more

I called to tell Lone Star the floor was defective before a yr had gone by& though it took them several mths before they'd even talk(I had to be very persistent; they never called me)The warranty on the floor was 25yrs, yes the 1 they said was expired only mths after it had been installed! I found a warr slip in 1 of the boxes, as I was PAYING ANOTHER CO. TO MAKE REPAIRS which Lone Star refused to acknowledge. I wish I would've seen reviews 1st, I'm trying to insure this doesn't happen again! They may very well sell some good brands along with junk, because I was looking@ a Mohawk floor along with brand X, who knows, it could all be 2nd quality? Maybe they did business correctly before but with the economy &cut backs they cut the 1 thing they should never compromise; quality! The salesmen said I should get a brand X floor, over Mohawk. They said it was a better floor for the money, but after checking around I believe they either had this junk floor in their inventory or it cost them much less& charged me much more. I went to other flooring businesses to inquire repairing VS replacing the floor; they all said that though they carried Mohawk that they refused to carry& would NEVER sell/install brand X as it was junk& they wouldn't have it in their line up! They said the avg price for the floor I got was less than 1/2 of that of a quality line like Mohawk! I don't tend to believe everything competitors say about other businesses,however, they did everything they said they'd do& took good care of me. When they could've sold me a replacement instead. WARNING to all! Buyers beware! These foreigners are very charismatic, they DO NOT CARE! I'm not racist, but most unethical foreigners USE good people for their money/income while keeping their money in foreign banks! They don't care 1 bit about the U.S., the economy or their customers!!! Do your homework!!
