I had Hardwood flooring installed throughout the entire house and I have to say this company's work is absolutely fabulous. John and Mohamed were so meticulous with every detail. They also answered all of my concerns about flooring throughout the installation process (and I learned a few secret tricks of the trade). I would recommend this company to my closest friends. My assistant called to arrange Lone Star to come out for an in home estimate. She said they refused to come to my home unless I went into the showroom. I didn't believe any company could be so lax in their customer service so I called myself. As a physician/widower with an Autisic child, I cannot spend time away from the hospital with casual shopping. I called and they told me no! So I moved on. We hired Lone Star Floor?s to refinish our floor and to do some work on an original wooden staircase. The project was a disaster. The salesman began by measuring the floor and intentionally mis-measuring by adding several feet in each direction. Yes, people make mistakes, but this was an attempt to overcharge us. The men then worked for two days and were incompetent. We are not sticklers for perfection, but this was a C or D grade job. The floor has nicks all over, the coatings/colors are applied unevenly, and they made a mess far beyond what any other contractor has done before or since. The men were also arrogant (they treated my wife very rudely). In short, Lone Star takes no pride in its work and is the classic dishonest contractor we all fear. I thought I was getting good quality hardwood for the price I paid, however, based on my experiences with their sales people and customer relations people I now know it was just a cheap Chinese substitute for quality! My main request was to nothing from China! The Chinese don?t have the same environmental concerns, control or guidelines as US/UK. This is the worse retail outlet I have ever dealt with. They are deceptive and incompetent. They tell you one thing and then pull a switch and bait. Terrible experience! My antique furniture was damaged (they said they didn't do it though it was perfect before they got there-just because it's obviously old doesn't mean it wasn't previously in great condition!) the floor was improperly installed and it did not arrive on time. My husband contracted lone star floors to replace all floors in a 3500+ sq ft home. The job was started late due to delay in receiving the floor tile, the workers showed up for only a couple hours the first few days and then disappeared for the next 3 days forcing the contractor to bring in a different crew. The wrong tile was put in kitchen and had to be replaced (more delays) and then was not set properly (uneven) when 2nd crew started (very unprofessional). Even though the original wood floor had been taken up, the contractor did not properly check the concrete slab condition during pre-job inspection/estimation and was discovered to be severely uneven in places and not enough time was allowed to correct the problem - used excessive amounts of float in attempt to correct. Tiles now have hollow sound and wood floor is coming loose in some areas. more
