Log Haven's reputation seemed to have been sterling for special events and that is what drew our family there for our event. It is such a beautiful location at any time of year, but the location is the only item that came through in our special event experience. We planned and scheduled 6 months ahead, and called, emailed and met with event staff, to try and assure that we knew what to expect, what the cost would be, and what the restaurant would provide with regard to service, venue and food. Unfortunately the experience was not what we had been lead to believe it would be. What should have been a relatively worry free and joyous event was filled with angst and sluggish service that appeared unprepared. After all of the planning and working on beautiful decor, collecting vintage vases for floral arrangements, and coordinating a team to set up, the restaurant was not prepared on their end. Rehearsals overlapped for the event and were rushed by the coordinating staff. The venue was not adaquately prepared for the weather that day, as it promised it could be, and the staff was not helpful, and infact were curt and even at times rude or unavailable. The meal started late because a dish wasn't ready so several guests left before eating. Despite a provision of having staff there to pace the event and over see that things were done in a timely manner, this didn't happen. Guests were asking the family and bride and groom when dinner would be served, when desert would be served, where the bathroom was, and many simply left early, most not staying for the traditional cake. Once the meal buffet was ready for guests it was a disappointment to find that the menu was not at all as it had been presented. Althought the food was the same, it was all served as a coldcut and tray style for a fall evening event, which was not at all what we had expected. I would not recommend this restaurant for any special event with the current staff and scheduling policies there.
