the beds 4/13/2004

Le Meridien is my new favorite hotel, anywhere. While I love the modern decor, the fabulous bathrooms, the showers, and the wasabi peas in the bar, the beds are what has made me devoted. They are like sleeping on a cloud. You wake up refreshed, but wish you could go back to sleep because it feels so wonderful. The proximity to the theatres on Hennipen, great restaurants (Cosmos has great food and we have had great service), the Target Center and the shopping on Nicolette mall, makes it convienent for what we need when we go to Minneapolis without the kids. This isn't a family hotel, which is another reason I love it--makes the get away weekends more special. I only wish we could afford to stay there more often. MPLS work force not ready for city hip 1/20/2004

Le Meridien is our new place to stay when in the cities. They can dress it up all they want, but the staff is still college students from out state Minnesota. It made me smile at every turn. Waiters pronounce menu items like they're not quite sure and they explain the meals in a very learned manner. Staff accommodates to the best of their ability, but they don't ""predict"" or ""see need"" like a true uptown hotel. Expect a bit of good and bad at Cosmos. Firstly, sharpen your orienteering skills to get from the parking ramp to the establishment its a long uncharted trip. Thats ok (can be a bit fun), but ready yourself for the great traditional Twin City frustration: The Dimwitted Hostess. Once youre done doing her job, dont expect any real service in the bar area unless youre bellying-up. Five people is too many for the dining room: two tables had to be unsophisticatedly pulled together. However, nothing will prepare you for the eating experience, where Cosmos food and service will literally overwhelm and astound you like no other. The best food Ive eaten anywhere in MPLS (foie gras that stunned me, chicken breast that I thought was new food). Who cares about price when its this defining?!? Conclusion: decorous space serving flawless food just get to the dining room. Pros: astonishing food, astonishing food, astonishing food Cons: drink prices, hostess(s), bar service more

What can I say. A slice of Manhattan in the MPLS. This is by far the most stylish bar/restaurant in the Twin Cities. The foie gras is to die for. The food is incredible, the drinks are great and the staff is very knowledgeable. But here comes the warning, it is expensive, so if you have to ask how much maybe you shouldn't go. But dont let that stop you from showing up. It also has a beautiful crowd. more

Cosmos was a very cool atmosphere, I felt a little like I was on Sex and the City. The only problem was that we had a really hard time understanding the waiter, but he was very good otherwise. First class, five star, AAA, however you say it, cosmos and Le Meridien define it. I have been back several times. The food is tasty and the preparation is pretty; the portions are perfect, and the clientele is stunning. The main dishes compete with the best local cuisine, but the appetizers steal the show. I also enjoyed the restaurant lounge for its cozy but mordern feel, which gave my group the option of being concealed or conspicuous. Its hard to enter location (its not exactly on the street) will certainly keep the rif-raff at bay for sometime. Perfect for a business lunch. more
