My husband and I spent almost 2 weeks in Maui and while there, my husband and a friend both rented surf boards from Local Motion. My husband left his credit card number with Local Motion as a deposit in case there was damage or if he didn't return the board.
When we returned the surf boards, the employee was unable to process any of the multiple credit cards we gave her because her machine wasn't working. She took our information including both of our credit card #'s, phone numbers and gave us a receipt acknowledging the total we each owed--$120. And we left.
A week or so later, we noticed on our statement that both week long rentals were charged to our account. We called and spoke to the manager regarding the double charge. He acknowledged the double charge but refused to issue us a credit. We are now in the process of disputing the extra charges with our credit card company.
My husband go to Hawaii every year and always rent some sort of equipment (surf boards, paddle boards, snorkel gear) but we will NEVER rent from Local Motion and will be sure to tell as many people as we know about the terrible service we received.
