I'm not quite sure why everyone thinks this place is so great. I'm not from New Orleans, so maybe that's it. I guess maybe you have to be a local to appreciate it. First of all, it's located pretty much in the ghetto. The gumbo was some of the worst I've had. French fry po-boy consisted of soggy steak fries, gravy, lettuce and tomato on a loaf, and wasn't good, nor was the chicken livers po-boy. Fried green tomatoes with shrimp remoulade was average at best. And the big frosty mugs of root beer are overrated. I can go to any FrostTop and get just as good. The glasses were not all that cold, and there was no ""slush"" effect, just some half-flat root beer in a heavy slippery glass. Prices were reasonable.
