Native New Yorker here. I have to say Toby's is the best pizza I've had in Pinellas County, and I have searched long and hard, north and south. With all due respect, anyone who compares it to Sbarro's needs his tastes buds checked. Sbarro's is disgusting, laden with goopy cheese, sweet sauce, and congealed grease. I'd rather gnaw on a cardboard box. Now Toby's on the other hand... the pizza has great sauce--not too sweet, not too tangy, and just the right amount. It has a good amount of cheese, not greasy or overloaded, and the right texture--not gummy or chewy. The crust is crisp, never burnt, with just the right amount of thickness. The ambience in Toby's reminds me of being back on Arthur Ave in the Bronx. Eating there, I forgot for a little while I was in a strip mall in St. Pete. I was a teenager again, picking up a slice after school on my way home. I love their cheesesteaks too, but I'm not an expert when it comes to them. My husband, who is from north of Philly and is a self-proclaimed expert, says Toby's cheesesteaks hold their own against what he grew up with. I'll take his word for it. I just know it tastes great. A perfect Sunday to us is splitting a cheese pie and cheesesteak from Toby's, football on the t.v. and the Steelers winning. Good stuff.
Pros: The food! Pizza and cheesesteaks. Authentic New York ambience.
Cons: Get crowded because they're so busy
