Embarrassing, avoid like the plague 11/4/2010

Waited over an hour for food that should have taken 5 minutes to make, and 5 minutes of thought must have gone in to this place, because its a joke. Staff seemed to walk around as if they were zombies, I don't blame them as I saw numerous people sending their dishes back, asking why dishes were missing things or stone cold. We started with the cheese plate which was worse than velveeta, nearing decomposition and mold. We each got a dinner entree, the salmon and a steak. The salmon tasted dry and acidic, as if it was frozen for months, or from a tin of cat food. The steak was so fatty it was unedible. I'm not usually picky, and this is backed up that every other table I looked at seemed unhappy. Our server did everything he could to make up for a disgusting food array and poor management. I don't know who this place is trying to fool, but their entrees suggest a kitchen willing to amaze you, but you leave feeling like a politician just took your money and went on a mental vacation with it. more

Cold hard breakfast but they did have individual cereal boxes 1/31/2009

We finally made it to the Little Hills Winery for breaksfast. Friends had raved about it. Well I raved afterwards, in complaints. Cold food, french toast so dried out, it was harder than concrete. We were the first people there and stuck in the cold side room where we had to leave on our coats. I should have left on my gloves too. Pros: leaving Cons: food and service more

Inside or out we always enjoy the wine 1/28/2009

I always thought of the winery for its outdoor seating. We recently went during the tail end of their breakfast buffet and had a very enjoyable time. The waiter was friendly and funny, food was excellent. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and my wife chose to eat from the breakfast buffet and said her food was fantastic! nice carving station and omlets made to order. We plan on going back soon! more

Best place on Main Street Saint Charles. 1/28/2009

We always love going to the Little Hills for wine and dinner. They now have really cool Flat Screen TVs more

Sunday Brunch 7/26/2007

Thought it was a great place to meet before a boat outing. Boy, we were really mistaken. The service was almost non existent. We had to find our own silverware and chase down the server for refills on coffee and juice. Once we were set to enjoy the buffet style breakfast, again we were shocked. Everything in the serving trays was COLD. Not luke warm. COLD. The cinnamon toast and waffles were clearly mocrowaved as you could not even cut them. They were like sponges. The blackberry cobbler did not have a serving spoon, so we were given a set of tongs! We were very dissapointed and had read the reviews prior to our visit, but, thought we would give it a try. If you do, make sure that you are not in a hurry, bring your own coffee and silverware, and don't mind cold eggs. I tried to speak to the Manager on several occasions, but he kept disappearing. Oh well. Lesson learned. The atmosphere is great. It is a shame that more people won't enjoy it. We were suprised that there was only 2 other tables at 10:00 on a Sunday morning! I suppose the reputation is out. I hope they get it together. Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: Poor service, cold food more

Its reputation does not proceed it 4/3/2007

Do not recommend at all. My score of 1.5 is for the outdoor seating. Have gone twice. First time, it was for a 40th birthday party. I was drinking and too tipsy to notice the sloooow service and high prices. My most recent visit was Monday April 2 in the evening. The outdoor seating was wonderful but that's all the good I have to say. There were 13 of us (adults and teenagers) and it took an hour for the waiter to take our food order. Not once during the meal did our waiter ask if we wanted refills, we had to ask him. Even on alcohol, which he should have been selling as it means a bigger bill and more tip for him. Food was okay. I had the cobb salad-good size but not enough lettuce. Dau's veg pasta was bland. After it was obvious that we had been finished eating for some time (we sat there an hour), we had to ask for our bill. Yes, the waiter left us there an hour to slurp the melting ice from our cups. He would disappear for 30 minutes at a time. Needless to say, the only thing the Winery has going for it is the outdoor seating. If you enjoy wine and want to have a romantic dinner and you have no taste buds, the Winery is the right place for you. Otherwise, go down the street to the Trailhead...now there's a place that knows good service AND great food...big portions that won't put a dent in your wallet. Pros: Outdoor seating, romantic Cons: Parking, food, prices, service, large groups can only sit outside at round metal tables pushed togther, rowdy groups looking for a good time-go somewhere else. more

Great dinner and the wine was fine! 11/21/2006

DInner is always great at the Little Hills Winery/Restaurant...granted sometimes it's really busy and you have to wait a bit, but for those with some extra time on their hands, this is the place to be. The atmosphere is warm and the staff is great. The pricing is resonable as well. Would I recommend the Little Hills WInery/Restaurant to someone? YOU BET!! more

Don't go hungry 11/16/2006

I have tried this place on 3 different occasions because I love the outdoor seating, but...it is just not worth it. The service is so slow that I once left before the food was delivered to the table (1 hour)! The prices are too high for the quality of food. It is a shame because it is a great location and atmosphere. more

Winery 5/13/2004

The winery is definetely a nice place to go and relax on a breezy summer day, but expect to pay high prices for not so good food and the wine is a little pricy as well. If you plan to go on a summer weekend night, be prepared to wait a long time for a table and then wait even longer for the food, so my suggestion is to eat something prior to going out to eat. They dont take reservations for the outside dinning. more
