We Love It 11/20/2006

My wife and I live in Europe. When we visit her family in Concord, NC we always try and make a visit to Salisbury for 1) Hap's hot dogs and 2) The Literary Book Post (in approximately that order). The store has friendly cats, as all worthwhile bookstores should have, and a knowledgeable staff who always make great suggestions. If all you read are the NY Times top 10 look alike, read alike novels, Barnes and Noble is OK. But, if you want to find special things, bookstores like LBP are wonderful finds. Salisbury, which is a lovely town by the way, should count itself very luck to have such an establishment. VS - Paris, France more

*Great* store 12/11/2005

The Literary Book Post opened over five years ago when Salisbury was in desperate need of a good bookstore - and they now have it! The Literary Book Post is stuffed to the gills with high-quality reading material. They have an excellent selection of non-fiction (including a Civil War section, or as it is labeled in the store, "Books on the Recent Unpleasantness between the States") and classics, something often lacking at the chain store in the mall. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and will always help you pick out a book based on what other books you like (which is very helpful for yoruself, and even more helpful for gifts!). My only caveat about the store: they do have cats in the store, and if you have severe allergies, you may want to call ahead to see if they still have them. more

Neat Repeat 10/19/2005

Even though this book store deals mainly in used books, they had quite a selection. I was able to even find older books that have been out of publication for quite a while. The prices of a lot of the books were a little steep, considering that they were used, but it is not everyday that you can find first editions. Not a bad place to go if you are a serious bibliophile, you will surely find something that interests you. Not a great place to go if you are short on time and need to rush in and rush out. more
