I have a rescued Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. We had been to other vets who did not take the time to get to know him and assumed he was mean because he was very scared. Dr. McHugh has given him lots of her time and has come to find out that he is a "Gentle Giant". We would not go to anyone else! more

Dr. Niggs Best Care of my poodle. 5/22/2011

I really appreciate Dr. Ben Niggs excellent care of our rescued epileptic 7 year old min.poodle.He has her on phenobarbitol ,after careful montoring of the length and the amt of seizures ""Penny "" was experiencing he did place her on this drug.He always enquired about Penny's health and after an annual blood draw did increase her dose .Penny is an important member of our household we rescued her at 6 mths old and trust Dr. Ben Nigg completely with our pets. more

Overland Park Dog Owner 1/31/2011

After 8 grueling weeks of trying to get my dog diagnosed, we reached a point of frustration in what appeared to be sincere interest in finding a diagnosis for our dogs illness. Our dog went from 16 pounds to 9 pounds in just two months. We had blood tests, ultrasounds, xrays, etc. completed without any resolution. At this point, I called another Vet Hospital and spoke with the Doctor on staff who (over the phone) gave me an immediate diagnosis which was absolutely accurate and ended up saving my dog's life. There are plenty of great Vet's out their...but LionsGate Pet Hospital is definitely not a place you want to take your pet if you really care about them! more

One of the Best ! 1/19/2011

My dachshund was involved in a serious accident while we were traveling in Kansas City. I did not know any vets in the KC area but as far as I am concerned a miracle occured when I found Dr. McHugh at Lionsgate Pet Hospital. She had two fractured pelvis's and was in a lot of pain. Moving her without hurting her was nearly impossible. When I arrived at Lionsgate the very professional staff there came out to my truck and moved her inside without hurting her at all. While I was out in the waiting room several of the customers told me that I had brought her to the right place and that Dr.McHugh is the best vet they know. After showing me the X-rays Dr. McHugh told me I needed to get her to a vet that specializes in orthopedic surgery. She recommended MU's School of Veterinary Medicine. The next day I took my Doxie there and they confirmed Dr.Mc Hugh's diagnosis, did surgery, and she is home donig well now. I live 3 hours away from Kansas City. The chances of me going back to Lionsgate are slim but still Dr. Mc Hugh has called me twice to check on my dog. The accident happened 4 weeks ago. I am very impressed with her and I wish i lived close enough to take all my critters there on a full time basis. more

Five stars is not enough 12/29/2010

My dachshund had a serious accident while we were visiting the Kansas City area. Pet owners this is a situation you need to do your utmost to avoid. Your GPS will send you to wrong addresses or try sending you to places 276 miles away. By sheer luck I found Lionsgate. The staff there are professional,competent,and caring. They handled my dog with a minimum of pain. While i was sitting in the waiting room several of the customers there told me I brought my dog to the best place in the KC area and I fully agree with them. they referred me to an excellent surgery center close to where I live. They did all they possibly could to ease my dog's pain. This morning Dr. McCune (wrong spelling sorry) called me to check on my dog even though I live 175 miles away. Only a vet that really cares would do that especially since I am an out of towner. Her call made me feel better at a time when I needed it. My dog still has a tough row to hoe but I am confident that with the initial quality care of this facility that it has been made a little easier for her. more

Lionsgate Animal Hospital 10/22/2010

Our family has had pets all of our lives. This by far is the most compassionate, caring and thorough pet hospitals we have ever had. The staff is superb, Dr. McKuen is the best we have ever had. We would not ever use anyone else. Our pets are family and this clinic views them the same way. Lionsgate Pet Hospital is staffed with dedicated, caring professionals. These two doctors are wonderful with their patients and caring enough to call and follow up on the progress of your pet. Located at 143rd and Metcalf, on the southeast corner, they are always welcoming and friendly. more
