In three days, I went to Jack Stack, Gates and Lil' Jake's. Of the three, Lil' Jakes was the best. I went in the morning, right after they opened, and was served the best brisket and pork shoulder. The brisket was tender and deeply smoked, with a bright red ring. The pork shoulder was incredibly tender and moist, with a deep sweet crust. At 4 bucks per sandwich (including a side dish), it was a bargain. It's not fancy and it's a small restaurant, but the food is excellent. I even bought a bottle of sauce, their rub, and 2 t-shirts.
Pros: Cheap, Excellent Barbecue, Downtown Location
Cons: Very limited seating
