Editorial review from Citysearch 10/10/2012

This was long over due. I have been at Leo's Chow Mein, many times in years but never bother to write comment to this place until I came back to MN again for a visit. Nothing in AZ can be compared to this restaurant. AZ is a desert state, but hardly offer water unless you asked for it.\r \r Anyway, Leo's had been the same, service, ample food size portion even after the change of ownership. The parking lot is small to accommodate customers especially during their lunch buffet, but people park blocks away to be there for their buffet. Wonder why? Because of their out of this world great tasting food. Their price, despite of the bad economy and commodities price hike, theirs kept low and affordable. Owners always great you with smile.\r \r My first lunch stop when I come back to MN, will be at Leo's Chow Mein. Where else would it be? more

Great Affordable Chinese Food But Horrible Customer Service 5/3/2012

We have been regular customers at Leo's Chow Mein for years. The food is great and the prices are affordable. We've been telling people to give Leo's the business. However, a recent poor customer service experience has left us with a sour taste in our mouth and we are wondering if we ever want to go back. During the lunch buffet these days, there is a waitress that is a middle aged Asian woman who is rude and delivers horrible customer service. We were at Leo's for the lunch buffet when it opened and even when she came around the first time with cabbage, she completely skipped our booth, going to another table near us then to the other side of the dining area. We had to flag her down to come back to our table. After this, she skipped our table again multiple times with no explanation as to why. She did not bring us food, she did not ask us if we wanted water refills when she brought water around, nothing. Now, We are people that are respectful. We say ""Please, thank you, no thank you."" when eating the buffet at Leo's. We are not the type of people who are rude and offend others. I don't believe we did anything to offend this waitress during our time there. Yes, this waitress was very rude and disrespectful to us. With her attitude, she has the potential to make your dining experience at Leo's your last one with how she is. We did talk to Evelyn, the owner, about the situation who said she would talk to this employee about the matter but we'll see if that accomplishes anything. Leo's Chow Mein needs to hire employees that know how to provide quality customer service otherwise, they are destined to FAIL in St. Paul. In this day and age, there are many Chinese restuarants as well, and if one is not liked, people will seek out others. more

More Than Just an ""Experience"" 4/27/2012

All week long I heard about this place with awesome Chinese food- if I can withstand the atmosphere. After reading the reviews on this site, both good and bad, I was reluctant but braved it anyways. A guy at work said ""if nothing else, at least go for the experience"". As I rounded the corner of the block, I noticed the streets were so packed with cars, we had to park over a block away! how bad could this place be??? As we proceeded in the door, the staff was very pleasant and on the ball. They hand you a plate and water (or pop if purchased) and you proceed like cattle to a back room. In this room are many tables full of people, eating and happy! Second thought - they are all still living ;-) As we sat down, I noticed 2 girls walking around with various dishes and scooping some onto each person’s plate. When they arrived at our table, we started with chicken and veggies, then fried rice, then pork with pepper (it was so good!!!) then sweet sour chicken, then lo mien and on and on... and they kept coming out with fresh hot batches! I have never seen anything like this but you get plenty full. But, the most important part is the flavor! It is outta this world! And, after 4 hours after eating there, I'm still alive and feeling fine. I am excited to go back and bring all kinds of family and friends!!! more

Leo's is great 1/15/2010

Enjoying the greasy value at Leo’s is easy. So long as ambiance isn’t the most important thing for you. Located in a less affluent part of town lots of interesting people dine here for lunch to enjoy the best darn greasy goodness, that Jesus Christ himself would have walked all the way from Galilee to enjoy. I hope you buy a drink and tip the staff making the total costs of you’re lunch $8. More if you’re feeling generous with the tip, and I hope you will feel as generous as the portions. Don’t bring someone you are trying to impress, like a date. However bring your favorite fat friend for the best dining experience. Eat up! Pros: Chinese Done Right Cons: Charge the paddles, you might have a heart attack. more

Best chinese food ever! 3/18/2008

This restaraunt has the best chinese food ever! By far, the best thing on the menu is the pork chop strips, while pork lo mein and sweet and sour pork come in a close second. if you ever think of going there i would recommend going there about 11am to12:30pm to catch the buffet. The employees are funny and full of life. Also they have a wide variety of foods. They have sweet and sour chicken and pork, pork chop strips, fried chicken, kung pow chicken, some thing that resembles a potato chip, fried rice with various meats, lo mein with various meats, chow mein, and a dish made of cabbage. The only downside of the restaraunt is if you don't get there early for the buffet it can get kind of packed. Pros: Almost everything was absolutely wonderful Cons: Parking and seating can be a little difficult around lunch more
