It's a wonder this store stays open. Cramped dirty, old inventory. No matter how much help they have, system breaks down when you pay. If it's cash, only one employee is allowed to handle it at the counter mid-store, so you have several clerks waiting to hand her the payment. Ridiculous. Is a fire waiting to happen. Take a good look at layout of store and see how you'd get out in the event of a fire. Not clearly marked, lanes run into shelves, ect. more

Cramped, dirty, hard to find stuff... 7/26/2006

Yep, it's true, Leonard's may have what you are looking for when nobody else in town does but the store is very cramped and dirty. Some of the stock is so old, it's still there from when they were located on North Commerce during the flood. You can tell by the ancient price tags, mud stains and rust. Some of the batteries and chemicals have expiration dates that are WAY past due to be thrown out. You can dig through bins of items (electrical parts for example) and find at least three different prices on them. Kind of leaves it up to the customer to find the best deal. They will honor the best price but it shouldn't be run like that. Makes you feel like you are at a flea market instead of a hardware store. Also, depending on who you are dealing with (if you can find someone to help) you can usually bargain them down in price. Unless you are made of money and don't mind getting ripped off, they should get their prices more in line with the rest of the world. They store the lawnmower and other garden equipment outside and it shows! Rusty, with rain damaged tags. If I'm gonna pay top dollar for something I would prefer it either be stored inside or at least fairly new. I know some of the other stores keep the equipment stored outside but they move the inventory quickly enough that it doesn't show damage. Maybe everyone in this area doesn't care what some of the businesses look like but take a look at their property and grounds, people. Piles of junk, trash, broken pallets left to decay on the asphalt. Not impressive, considering the prices they charge. Couldn't they clean it up a little? Let's see....something good to say...the help is usually friendly and can sometimes find things buried from long ago that the customer wouldn't be able to find. They will go to the trouble to order something that isn't in stock if they can find it in the catalog. more

Small town service 3/21/2006

I don’t go to this business often. But if I need something I can’t find anywhere, it is almost always here. The store is quite crowded, but that is because they have such a variety. And the prices are normally very competitive, and the staff is actually pretty knowledgeable about the products. So they can help you find the specific item you need – rather then giving the lame excuse “…uhh that’s not my department…” Just plain good folks. more

A lot of hard to find merchandise... 9/15/2005

When I say hard to find, I mean in both way. The store is very cramped and crowded because they have so much inventory, but if you are looking for a hard to find item, chances are that Leonard's Hardware will have it. Their sales staff is very knowledgeable in the fact that they can find almost everything the store has to offer. It may take them a while, but they'll find it. Leonard's offers lawn and garden equipment, paints, pots and pans, plumbing supplies, televisions, microwaves, purses and so much more. It's an interesting store just to look around in. more

Whatever you need, they probably have it! 8/10/2005

Leonard's Hardware in Russellville, Arkansas has just about everything you need under one roof. They offer ceiling fans, pots and pans, paint, purses, electrical supplies, dog houses, lawn and garden supplies, china, plus a lot more. They are very reasonable on their prices and are always having some kind of sale. The only problem is that they may actually have too much stuff under one roof and at times, it's hard to find an item you may be looking for. All you have to do is ask one of their employees, and chances are they can take you right to whatever it is you are looking for. Located on South Arkansas Avenue in Russellville. more
