Run, don't walk from Leonard's Garage. They use after market parts and are untrustworthy. They couldn't do a brake job on a Ford truck, lied about a defective tire I bought from them. Didn't perform work I was charged for. Go to the dealer. The only thing they are good for is an oil change and tire rotation. Check your oil and mark your tires to make sure it was done. Yes, they're super friendly, give discounts, chat you up but just another rip off garage. more

My car wouldn't start one morning, and the AAA towing guy recommended Leonard's over the shop I wanted to go to. THANK GOODNESS! They are so friendly, very fast, and gave me options for what I could do now and what I could wait till later to take care of. I HIGHLY recommend them to everyone. more

I never had any major repair done at Leonard's, just minor fixes and oil changes. But each time, I was impressed by their level of professionalism and dedication to customer service. My knowledge of car mechanics is pathetic, but they welcome all my questions and take time to patiently explain the details of my vehicle's operation. I never felt so much at ease at a car repair shop. It takes one visit, and they tend to remember you, your car, and its history without looking it up. Those guys are impressive! I have visited this location a couple of times and have found the employees to be friendly and honest. Each time I have made an appointment they have always provided me with prompt service allowing me to be in and out in no time. As a mother of 3 this makes my life a lot easier. I recently moved to Austin and a few weeks ago my car started experiencing transmission problems. I didn't know where to go for service, so I looked up AAA recommended auto shops. They highly recommended Leonard's Garage and now I know why. The customer service is great. They make getting a car fixed (especially a big fix like needing a new transmission) a less stressful experience. Communication was great all the way through. I had always taken my VW to the dealer and I wanted to try someplace closer to S. Austin. After doing some research I came across Leonard's. The shop was close and had raving reviews so I thought I would give it a try. I needed a tune up as well as a timing belt replacement for my VW and was quoted a very fair price which was much better than the dealer. Also, a warning light had come on which I was concerned about. Brandon, the manager at the shop went above and beyond to help me out. He answered all of my questions and explained exactly what the problem was. Everyone at the shop was very personable and I was kept informed throughout the repair process. Even after picking up my vehicle Leonard's followed up and made sure I was fully satisfied with the work that was done. Overall, it was a great experience. Leonard's is a shop that I can trust and I plan to bring my VW back for any and all future repairs. more

Over the years, I've taken a number of my cars to Leonard's Garage on S. Lamar. The manager and technicians are always knowledgeable, courteous, and efficient. This past week, I took my car in for an oil change at 9 a.m. and asked them to look at my coolant levels as well, because my car seemed to be overheating just a little. It turned out that my radiator was busted. The guys at Leonard's got my car fixed and running smoothly in no time. They even worked extra fast so I could make it to pick up my daughter from school on time. Overall, Leonard's garage has never disappointed me. They won't try to sell me things I don't need, and they take care of the things I do need promptly and with a smile. I'll never take my car anywhere else. more

I own a 1989 Ford Bronco and only have had it for a year or so now and trust me I have had my days where I just wanted to drive it off a cliff. I found Brandon and his crew a while back at another shop and have been with Leonards ever since. They are amazing and I always leave happy. They know how to work on my older vehicle and never have turned me away because parts where hard to find or the car was just to old. They treat me like a customer not a chick who doesn't know very much about cars. THEY ARE AMAZING AND MY WHOLE FAMILY BRINGS THEIR VEHICLES THEIR AND I ONLY LET THEM WORK ON MY BABY. I've lived in South Austin for 6 years running now and hadn't found a garage where I felt comfortable bringing my old GMC truck for repairs... until I walked into Leonard's. YES - my truck is old and dirty, and YES - I know most people these days don't drive 20-year-old vehicles, and YES - I know that when I pull up to Leonard's I'm surrounded by brand-new beautiful vehicles from all over the world that make mine look like an old shoe... BUT - that does not mean I deserve to be treated like a fool because I'm not rollin' in a brand new shiny Mercedes. I've driven my truck over 250,000 miles from Panama to Alaska and I love it, and I love finding an automobile shop where I can get straight-talk and fair prices. The (3) different mechanics who have worked on my vehicle at Leonard's have all been extremely helpful, and provided me with clear and considerate information about my truck and my options. They're proud to stand behind their work, easy to contact and communicate with, honest about the good news and the bad, reasonably priced, and timely. I've never had any problems or questions with any of the work done at Leonard's that the manager Brandon wasn't completely happy to resolve. And most importantly, I never felt that I was just another number waiting in line to be rushed in and out. My only regret is that I didn't discover this shop any earlier. I even put off getting some work done on my truck hoping that I would find a trustworthy and reliable auto shop - And I did! I have no doubt that the new clutch Leonard's installed in my truck, along with the speedy and thorough oil and lubrication services I come in for regularly, will help me keep drivin' my old truck another 250K. Leonard's is gettin' it done right - I send everyone I know their way and they all tell me they wouldn't go anywhere else. Check 'em out, no matter what kind of car you drive. more

I first went to Leonard's when my car decided to stop running and I had to get it towed. I have been a fan ever since. They have treat me very well and always make me feel special. I trust that I am not getting the run around when I take my car to them. I tell everyone I can about them. I just wish I had known about them sooner then I would have left my dealership loooong time ago. more

I first went to Leonard's when their Round Rock location was still open up north, for a simple oil change. They have since closed that location, so I trek down to their South Lamar location when I need something done. They are quick, they are friendly, and as a young single female who clearly knows very little about automotive issues, I feel completely at home there and know that they aren't going to try to rip me off. In fact, the one time they told me about something that was wrong with my car, the manager took me out to the garage and showed me precisely what the problem was and didn't thereafter push me to pay immediately (and even the quote that he gave me was quite reasonable). Bottom line: their prices are reasonable, the managers are friendly and knowledgable, and I trust their staff, which is precisely why I will continue to make the trip down south. more

Go to Leonard's. I called up Longhorn Collision asking for a recommendation. My car was sliding forward while brakes were on and my A/C was acting up. Longhorn Collision recommended ""Leonard's"" right off. Great experience. Dropped in, customer waiting said, ""have you been here before?"" I said, ""no."" He said, ""You're going to love the way they treat you here."" They had the diagnosis for me within a few hours, they have a shuttle service that dropped me right at my house (how convenient!), ordered the part next morning and voila! Car was ready by next day before noon. That was fast! Cost was very reasonable. Liked it that they called me as soon as they had the diagnosis, explained what was causing the problem, and gave me price. Price very reasonable. The same shuttle service came and got me for pickup which saved me having to go with the headache of a rental car. Truly a pleasure working with these folks. Knowledgeable, honest, accommodating. The 5% discount based on repair costs toward next repair costs is brilliant. Definitely going back. more
