AVOID LEON'S! I took a pair of pants in to be altered. They didn't take time to fully understand what I wanted altered and I felt extremely rushed. They told me they could fix part of the problem. They didn't tell me that fixing that part of the problem would make another part of the problem worse. When I went in to pick them up they didn't even ask me to try them on. I had to ask to try them on before I paid for them. When I told them I wasn't happy with the alteration they told me they could do another repair(for more money of course)that might actually fix the problem. Then they told me the way the pants were originally made was the reason the first alteration didn't fix the problem. I decided I had already lost enough money and time dealing with their extremely poor customer service. more

So, I read all the reviews here before going in to Leon's, and totally understand why people wrote what they did. Larry is a nice guy, but he does indeed come off as a bit *ahem* arrogant. He is of an old school mentality where he, the professional, knows how a suit should look and fit. Doesn't matter what the current styles are or what feels like a good fit to you, you (and everyone else, models, magazines... everyone), is wrong! :) \r They also have a very small selection in the shop, as their speciality is completely custom-made suits.\r \r If you don't know what you want, or want someone to tell you what is 'best' for you, or want a custom-tailored suit, this place will be great for you.\r \r If you know what you want, and what you want is a more modern fashion, this is not the place for you. I recently moved to Downtown Indianapolis and was recommended to Leon's by a co-worker. I am very thankful for the recommendation. Yes, you will pay a little bit more (maybe 10% if that), however, the quality of the suits and the fit is 100% better than the other suit stores. Bottom line is Leon's does not sell crap. I started with one suit (jacket, pants, silk Italian tie & very nice shirt) was a little over $500. I was so happy, I just ordered a tuxedo from Leons. It is amazing. A complete tux with all the accessories (2 shirts, cumberbun, vest, bow tie, cuff links and studs) all for a little over $700. Nice thing is, buy the suits/tux at Leons, the future tailoring is free. One last thing...the staff is very professional, especially Larry. (He is very talkative). They will not BS you. I took some jackets/pants in to get re-fitted. He was very honest. I am not sure about some of the above negative comments, but my experience was excellent. I was a grad student at the time looking for a nice suit. I had went to all the stores around town looking for OTR suits, but nothing under $2000 was cut for an athletically built man (drop of around 11"). A lot of my physically fit friends have the same problem. I went to some of the Keystone stores and found that msm suits would be around $2500 and above. I found that at Leon's I was able to get a half canvased or fully canvased suit (not sure?) for around $1200. The fabric is top quality, the cut was classic (and will be in style long after the super skinny labels are silly looking) and the fit was perfect. They even allowed me to pay in installments while the suit was being made. The suit was much nicer than Canali and BB of the same price, and def. on par with the Zegna suits I look at for $2500+, that still didn't accommodate the drop I had. My Partner and I stopped by Leon Tailoring on whim. I am a very slim man and so is my Partner. We are older gents and we can no longer find clothes that fit in department stores. Larry and Norm were very helpful because they had other customers with similar problems relating to fit. I ordered 4 shirts and a suit. No clothes have EVER fit and looked as good as my new stuff from Leon. I have received more compliments than I can tell you on my appearance. These guys are super. Neither of us ever felt better about the way we look. If you want to look great, go to Leon. more

I purchased several items for a wedding from Leon Tailoring in May 2010. One of the items included a hat for my husband, an Active Duty Military Personnel, stationed in Charleston, SC. When my husband tried on the hat, we discovered it was not the right size. I immediately contacted Judy, the sales rep at Leon Tailoring, to inform her of the problem. She told me I could return the hat for store credit or a refund.\r \r I mailed the hat back with a brief note explaining the return and the conversation I had with Judy. I requested a refund to my credit card. After months of not receiving a refund or hearing from Leon Tailoring, I called on October 28 and asked for a manager. I spoke with Larry, who was very rude. He would not even let me finish a sentence before he would cut me off to tell me that they did not accept returns on hats due to Health and Safety rules. Larry and Norman Ettinger have been friends, consultants, tailors and confidants for more than 20 years. 50+ Shirts, 20+ slacks, 7 Sport Coats, 2 Suits, a Tuxedo and dozens of Ties, Fitted Jeans and Sweaters to fill my closet. When my shirts are made, they are PERFECT! More than 50 custom fitted shirts and each one is an exact fit, long wearing, and the most comfortable to wear. Leon's is better than anyplace I have ever gone and that includes London, Paris, Hong Kong and the Phillipines. Normally, I am the hardest customer to make happy, but these guys and their co-workers alway seem to get it right. When I wanted a Sport Coat made for the Irish Festival, they helped me get the Tartan fabric for my family clan and then made a perfect fit coat that was nothing short of spectacular. I could have probably spent less to go somewhere else, but cannot ever seem to get a good fit from the others I've tried. NOT CHEAP, but the best quality you can imagine. Tailoring????? How about torture. If Amy comes to assist, run the other way. Over priced rude staff, and all they want is your money. What happened to customer service or service with a smile. I left dissatisfied and feeling worse than when I walked in. I would rate with zero stars but this review forces you to rate them with one meaning unsatisfactory. I would not recommend Leon and I will not be back. Makes me so angry I don't even want to drive on Delaware Street because it reminds me of the awful experience I had with Leon Tailoring. more

Don't be fooled when you walk in and see all the pictures of famous people. If you think they will treat you well you will be disappointed. The staff is rude, they don't know the meaning of customer service and everything that is wrong will somehow be your fault. If you must do business with them remember the saying let the buyer beware. If there is a problem you will be the one to pay and you will be the one inconvenienced. more

I have been a customer of Leon's for the past 20 years and a friend to them for just as long, that is how they treat you as soon as you walk through the door. I had a few alterations done to some pants the first time in and now I have tailor made suits that fit amazingly. I have and will always recommend Leon Tailoring Co. more

I have been purchasing my business suits from Leon's for over the last 25 years and have always found the quality to be "Top Drawer", the service impeccable, and the wearing of the garments long lasting. The Leon group always has treated me with dignity and found that their recommendations on what looks best to always be right on the money! As a man of size I was never sold anything that didn't make me look like a "Million Bucks" ! I no longer live in Indianapolis, but have continued to return yearly to purchase new suits from Leon's. I am always asked where I get my suits from and I always recommend Leon's to them if they are going to be in Indy. I tell them to just call Norman or Larry and they too can have the same fine suits. My brother went in to buy a tux for his wedding. Now he's a big guy, but then he already knows that. The owner measured him and was rude about every bit of it...downright insulting. Not to mention they assured everyone that they would beat Men's Warehouse in price but failed to mention that price would not include shoes or accessories. So our tux rental ran at least $20 more than expected. Our issues would include: 1. Misquoted price. 2. Down-right poor customer service. 3. The grooms special order tux was about 3-4 inches short in the legs. 4. The tallest guy in the group received the shortest jacket & tie. 5. The shortest guy in the group received the longest vest & tie. 6. 2 of the 8 tux jackets did not match the rest. Specifically the cover over the faux front pockets. 7. One tie had to be returned because it was missing a strap. One might wonder why it was given to us even though it was clearly marked as defective. I took some suits I bought at Talbot's to get altered at Leon's. I chose this place because I wanted the alterations to be done right for two interview suits (I'm a law student). Plus, I thought if I was happy with the experience, I would go back in a few years and have them make me a suit. The person I worked with was really rude, and called my clothes cheaply made. I don't think my suits are cheaply made, but even if they are, why insult a customer? They did an alright job with the alterations, though I've since had to get some of them re-altered (the pants were still too long, even wearing the same shoes I wore to the fitting). I probably should have just taken my clothes and left, but that was my mistake. The price was also very high for the alterations, I thought ($200+ for two pants, a skirt, and a jacket) Horrible service--save your money and go elsewhere! more

I could not believe the great quality of service here. the staff here is great. I was welcomed as soon as I walked in the door. this place is set up great, everything is so well organized. They do a great tailoring job. I found the staff here seemed to pay great attention to detail. It is a nice location and it was easy to get to. more

Impeccable tailoring and beautiful fabrics have set Leon Tailoring in a class by themselves. Prices are much less than you might expect for custom-fitted garments also! more
