I AM SO HAPPY to have found Colleen at Leon and Company!!!! I was nervous trying a new stylist. Colleen asked me questions about my lifestyle and listened. I received beautiful highlights that seemed very natural. I have two kids at home, so I don't have much time to style. My cut is wounderful! I learned a few tricks and I don't always feel like a soccer mom now. SERVICE WAS GREAT!!!!!!! more

Terrible first visit 10/24/2007

The stylist was rude to the point of making me wish I hadn't come through the door. The color was ok but nothing special. The cut minimal. I don't know if all the stylists have the same attitude with the clients, but I won't be back. Pros: easy parking Cons: rude treatment more

Total Savior!!!! 7/23/2007

I went to back to Leon's after being down south for a year. Needless to say, when I walked in my hair was a total mess! I had decided to try being a blond and had gotten my color done at another salon which didn't work out too well!! I went to Leon's and had my color fixed by Taylor. She was awesome! From the moment I walked in she made me feel like I would leave there looking like a model. My color correction became a two day process (which I was not mad about at all) because she didn't want to put too much stress on my hair in one day. Taylor took her time and I completely trusted her to fix the mess that was on my head. By the time I left I looked like a totally different person. I've gotten so many compliments on my new color. I've definitely learned my lesson.. Taylor will be the only hairdresser touching my hair from now on!! Pros: Staff, Fun atmosphere Cons: Parking more

try if you can to get leon for a cut and color. he's the best. even then, all of his staff is able, and they're full of great ideas. plus you get to avoid newbury st.! more

Just okay... 9/1/2006

I have gone to Leon's for a little over a year but I have decided to switch to someone else. The staff is very snobby though my hairstylist is very nice. Unfortunately, the last two times I went there despite specifically asking for a blowdry after my haircut, they did not book enough time. They usher you in and out very quickly....I just don't think it's worth it with so many other great places around. I wouldn't recommend. more

Not a good first impression 4/17/2006

I went here based upon some recommendations I received from a few different people. I made the classic mistake of not asking for one of the more experienced stylists and ended up with one of their newest stylists (although the website claims this associate had 15+ yrs experience) I have never been whisked in and out so quickly in my life (didnt even cut my bangs). I have received way better haircuts at half the price at chains like Delaria. I guess picking the right stylist makes all the difference. My advice is to stay away from the newbies more

First Timer-Will Be Second Timer 1/31/2006

I went to Leon and Co. ready to part ways with the hairstyle I had sported for almost 8 years. My stylist (Donna) introduced herself and asked if I had anything in mind. I lost all of my previous trepidation as she did an amazing job! She varied the style slightly to fit my face shape and I love it! The owner Leon was pleasant and friendly, there was absolutely no pressure to buy products, the parking was easy and the price was a heck of a lot less than most salons in Boston. Will return and bring friends 11/30/2005

Leon cut my hair, and he was amazing! Previously I have been to almost every salon on Newbury, and I was never as happy as when I walked out of Leon and Co. Vidal Sasson has botched my haircut, and I came to this place to fix it. I ended up with the best haricut of my life! Leon also showed me how to style and treat my hair, and the haircut has kept its shape for much longer than usual. I have not tried the hgihlights, but will do so next time, though I don't think Leon himself colors hair. Pros: Skill, Friendliness, Experience Cons: Location more

Both Leon and Hamid do a great job giving classic, clean haircuts here. Both men and women emerge with nice cuts. There is parking nearby and it is a pleasant salon. Worth the visit. more

Also disappointed 10/26/2005

I was also disappointed in the cut and highlights I received at Leon & Co. After researching salons, this seemed like the best choice. It was pleasant and the staff nice, but didn't have the interior or amenities I would expect given press reviews. Chose stylist because the website said she had worked there for more than 15 years and was an award-winner who specialized in blond highlights (I am a blond who gets highlights about 3 times/year.) She was sweet, but seemed distracted when doing my highlights and she only used 1 color (every colorist I've ever had used 2-3 shades.) Consequently, even though I stressed that I really needed my roots re-done, the highlights started about 1/4 of an inch from my scalp and lacked any dimension. I obsessed about finding the right salon when I moved to Boston and I selected Leon for it's location, and reviews. The salon was very busy, and I was disappointed when the stylist did not even confer with me about a style or shape before she began washing my hair.
