I have literally been to every Indian restaurant and food cart I can find in Portland metro, and Lentil Garden is hands-down, the best. I've been eating here for about a year now, and was jazzed this week to find that they had greatly expanded their menu. Whohoo!\r

If you haven't been to Lentil Garden, then you owe yourself the pleasure. Southern Indian cuisine is a bit more subtle than the Punjabi style cuisine that you may be used to. It doesn't have to be spicy (hot, hot, hot) to be good. Although, when it's appropriate, the heat is definitely on. The chef can blend spices to wake up every taste and smell sensation in one bite without burning it out for the next. That said, the pepper rasam is not for the faint of heart. It's HOT, like it should be.\r

There are also lots of great dishes that only South Indian chefs know how to make. Try the dosa once, and you'll be hooked. Idly is yummy! Utapam is out of sight! Try something new each time you come back, like I have, and you'll never be disappointed. There is even a breakfast menu (that's right, I said breakfast) on Saturday and Sunday mornings. They serve traditional Indian breakfast dishes for about three bucks each. Awesome!\r

Okay, okay, you're probably thinking that this place is almost in Hillsboro, and who would want to drive way out there just for dinner? Right? Well, try it once and you'll be back for breakfast... and the lunch buffet. It's right next to a ton of stores, so you can call it a ""shopping"" trip :-). Yeah, that's the ticket. If you're lucky enough to live close by, and you haven't been there, then you are seriously missing out.\r

Oh. Don't try to find this place using the map link provided by CitySearch. It's broken. The place is out by Tanasborne, not by Beaverton Town Square as the CitySearch map suggests. Google the address and you'll get the correct directions.
Pros: Flavorful, Wonderful Food, Awesome Service, Attention to Cleanliness
Cons: Sometimes cold inside.
