former employee 9/25/2007

I am a former employee. I only left because I was offered a position that was too good to turn down. While at TLY, I loved my job. The center was clean, fun and a great place to work. The providers who work there love children and take care of those in their care above standards. The owners are wonderful people to work for who just want their employees to do their job correctly. It outrages me to see negative comments about people who are honestly in the child care business to take care of children. I know that there are children who have been at TLY since it opened and the families all are very satisfied with the quality of care.\r \r As far as comments I have seen regarding matter of payment, does anyone realize how many people bounce checks on a regular basis. What would you suggest as opposed to a cash only option? Lower quality care or turning people away when they attempt to drop their children off before work? Working on a cash basis allows the money to automatically go into the business account. Checks take time to clear, or to be found written on insufficient funds. Pros: great teachers, modern facility more

Quality Care Speaks for Itself 8/14/2007

""Our two children have experienced very good care at the Learning Years for almost two years now. We have seen almost every classroom and the caregivers operate in caring and professional ways. From the infant rooms to pre-school rooms we have been satisfied with the level of care, the quality and cleanliness of the facility, the genuine care from the teachers, and the prompt responses from the directors and owners. Any time we have had a question or concern the teachers, aides or directors have been helpful, professional and have quickly resolved any issues. Personally, I have also walked through at times other than drop-off and pick-up and have noticed well-directed activities, proper care of children, safety-conscious staff, and directors or owners available to meet needs. My children have been learning very age appropriate and positive ways to behave and I have excellent dialogue with their teachers about their development."" Pros: Great teachers, bright and clean rooms, age-appropriate learning opportunities more

Wonderful and safe environment 8/10/2007

I'm not sure what the owner's finances have to do with whether or not they are capable of running a safe environment for children. Many businesses don't take checks any longer due to the fact that it increases their risk of not getting pad. The real issue here is whether your kids will be happy and safe here and I would say with 100% confidence that I believe that they will be, because if I didn't I wouldn't send my THREE kids there! My children have been attending for over 2 years and not once have I been unhappy with their care. If anything, there were times I felt they were OVERPROTECTIVE of my kids, calling me just to let me know if they felt my child wasn't feeling well or to ask questions if they had concerns. The teachers there are wonderful and demonstrate that they truly enjoy being with the kids and they aren't just there to collect a paycheck, as I've seen at other centers. The owners are always available for questions or concerns and are very involved in making sure that everything goes smoothly at this center. I would recommend them to anyone looking for quality care in the area. Pros: caring and loving teachers, large and well equipt classrooms, clean environment more

2+ Years and NO complaints 8/10/2007

My daughter has been attending TLY since she was 8 weeks old. Since she started more than 2 years ago, I have never had any problems with this location or with the owners of this business when it comes down to the Quality of care that my daughter has been receiving. There are several EXTREMELY great teachers at this location that have been with this business at least for as long as we have been with them. My daughter absolutely *LOVES* going to school and tells me every morning that she wants to go to school to see all her friends and do all the various activities that The Learning Years provides for her. The Learning Years has an open door policy and I usually make at least one un-announced visit to check up on my daughter at a random hour. I have never during all this time ever seen anything that did not satisfy me. I highly recommend TLY to others and suggest you check the place out more

Great place to work and bring your kids! 7/21/2007

I happen to work at The Learning Years and altough it's not perfect (what place is?) it is a great place to work and a wonderful environment for children. The teachers are educated and loving. They take pride in their classrooms and have amazing relationships with the children, their parents and with the other teachers as well. We have had some negative press recently but most of it has been nothing but ALLEGATIONS and those are not true. These are also allegations made from former employees, former employees who do not work at The Learning Years anymore for very good reasons. Our last licensing inspection came back with ZERO non-compliances which means we were operating perfectly. The center has an open door policy so come and see it for yourself. You will not be disappointed. more

Awesome teachers and excelent service! 7/20/2007

I have been bringing my kids to The Learning Years since they were infants and they are now 3 and 18 months. They love their teachers, as do I! It sounds like the previous ratings are from disgruntled ex-employees who have no lives. Maybe there is a reason they don't work there anymore??? Come see the center for yourself. I will keep my mouth shut about the owners but the center itself is wonderful! more

Beware of Allegations 7/3/2007

I pulled my child immediately, and so did 5 others parents in my childs class. This is a cash based business and I never felf comfortable with that. I also pulled his name off of MD State Records and he has quite a long list and most claims are based on finances. Please do your homework before you send you child there. \r \r Maryland Gazette published the following article on 6/6/07\r \r Unannounced visits by state inspectors are becoming weekly occurrences at a Millersville day-care center.\r The Child Care Administration is probing allegations of mismanagement, overcrowding and uncertified Cons: Everything more

I wouldn't send my worst enemy there .... 5/17/2007

to work or seek childcare. Just check out the owner's background. Furthermore is the director at the Pasadena location even qualified??? Why is it that they only accept cash or ccs. The owner wouldn't be dipping in the funds would he?? Pros: There are none more
