Amazing, decadent, perfect 8/31/2010

It really doesn't matter how bad your day has been. If somone hands you a freshly baked pain au chocolat, everything is right with the world. Beautiful, buttery, crisp croissant is stuffed with dark, rich morsels of the best French chocolate imaginable! Seriously, why they haven't used these to solve international conflicts I will never understand. A pain au chocolat and a steaming cup of fresh coffee is all you need for 20 minutes of complete bliss. \r \r The cafe is lovely too so if you can find a spot, stay and savor and enjoy! more

Yummy! 1/25/2010

The quiches, croissants and cookies were so perfectly flaky and buttery! Very decadent.\r I felt very rushed and was intimidated to even ask questions there! Kinda like the ""soup nazi""! But it was so good I would go back every morning if I lived in Seattle. Pros: Perfect breads Cons: Not helpful service more

Mmmmm Pain Au Raisin.... 7/26/2008

I have lived in France and nothing comes close to French patisseries but, if you have to live in seattle you have to have Le Panier pain aur raisin....it's pretty good i tell you!\r I am there once a week for my fix....lol and a cup a cafe to reallly settle in for the day!!\r love it more

Unsanitary 5/26/2008

I used to visit this bakery about once every week or so. I would buy a loaf of bread and indulge in an almond croissant. However, recently when I went in, I saw one of the employees drop a loaf of bread on the floor, and then put it back on the shelf! I could not believe my eyes, but I figured this an isolated incident. However, when I told the employee ringing me up (this time I only bought a latte...you can't drop that on the floor!), the employee said that he couldn't say anything to the woman who dropped the bread, saying that she was a manager, and that putting the bread back was a policy. This is ridiculous! I expect my food to be clean before I buy it. I will no longer be a patron of Le Panier bakery. more

Amazing bread 2/26/2008

I just tucked into a bit of the campagne loaf and have to say it's one of the best loaves of bread I've ever had. It's moist, and chewy and the crust it perfectly browned and crunchy. Absolutely worth every penny! more

awesome 7/20/2007

i went in a couple months ago just to see what they offer.... OH MY GOODNESS!!! i got some assorted petit fours, and they were perfectly exquisite and just delicious!!! their french macaroons are out of this world! i cant wait to make a trip to pike place just for some more petit fours! Pros: outstanding overall Cons: sometimes hard to find parking at pike place.. more

Try the mini palmiers 4/5/2007

I am seriously addicted to the mini palmiers. They come in a clear cellophane bag tied with a colorful ribbon. Most (mammoth-sized) palmiers at other bakeries lack the crunch that these have ... almost like candy. So basically, it's a buttery and flaky cookie that crunches like candy. You'll just have to try it. I don't even work downtown but I make the trip to buy these. They are to die for. Pros: it smells heavenly (just like a bakery should) Cons: parking is a major challenge more

This bread is the staff of life........ 3/8/2007

I know great bread when I taste it and I'll walk several miles to get it. Try one of Le Panier's sandwiches for lunch - I recommend the Roast Beef or Turkey...to die for and a great bargain at apprx $5.00. I'm here every weekend. Pros: Quality of baked goods...best bread in town. Cons: Tough to find parking at Pike St Market more

Best French bakery I've found! 10/25/2006

Le Panier reminds me of the French bakeries in Old Town Geneva. The croissants are etherially light, buttery, and flaky. The palmiers are buttery and slightly soft on the inside while really crispy on the outside...I'd love to know how get a cookie to do that!\r \r Try the napoleon with luscious French pastry creme between the layers of pastry.\r \r A breakfast fave was the croissant filled with ham and gruyere...delish!!!\r \r As a previous reviewer mentioned, the lattes are smooth and luscious.\r \r Also, try the hazelnut and chocolate chip cookies...and the pistachio macaroons!\r \r You won't be able to pass by the buttery and wonderful smell on the corner as you walk by. Pros: Great food, great breads, value Cons: Parking at Pike Place more

Must try the macarons! 11/11/2005

The pistachio macarons here are absolutely wonderful- I have developed a dangerous addiction to them, and costly- as they are a dollar a piece for each small, delightful little cookie. These are hard to find French cookies that I have only had in Paris before I discovered this sweet little bakery tucked in by Pike Market. Pros: Great Baked Goods, Good Coffee more

Complaint 1/6/2005

The highly vaunted chocolate eclairs that I purchased were stale. I would have been better off with what passes for chocolate eclairs at QFC. more

Pastry Bread & Coffee 1/29/2004

I am an ex-baker (having gone on to other interests) and I find the breads and pastries to be wonderful at Le Panier. What I would really like to comment on though is their Lattes and specialty coffee drinks. What a treat! In my opinion, in the top 5 in the city! Pros: Great Coffee, Delicious Products, Clean Cons: , Have to WANT to go, Small sitting area more

Great bread and croissants 6/22/2002

Le Panier is the real thing. Their baguettes (French bread) and croissants are the best I have found in Seattle, and I'm a big bread fan. I go there regularly and would advise anyone to do the same. Their ""oh so French"" atmosphere is cute but a little cloying. The Pike Place Market location is wonderful. The only minus: their pastries are truly disappointing. They look like real French pastries, but can be soggy and lacking in flavor. Get your pastries at Three Girls Bakery, just steps away. Stick to the bread products here and you'll be happy. And the prices are very low too. Pros: Bread, croissants, Location, Value Cons: Weak pastries more

The best palmiers around 5/20/2002

I love the baguettes and palmiers here. I also love the onion loaf and the black walnut, which makes a meal when served with a nice, ripe blue cheese and wine. There's nothing better than the buttery scent that permeates the corner where this bakery lives. more
