Special Dining 9/13/2005

I was very pleased with my dining experience in August, the food was great, the service was out of this world, very happy with dinner. more

Terrible 8/8/2005

When arrived dining room was practically empty, but had to wait 15 minutes to order a bottle of wine. Waiter did not tell you about different price for water at the beginning of the meal. Waiter stated that the special for the day was the Fish Sampler. She stated that the Lobster and Crab cakes were good size. When the meal came the lobster was good size but cold and very stingy, burnt on the bottom, and the crab cake was the size of a quarter. Even the salad was bad, way to much dressing. Worse place in Mt. Washington by far and I have eaten at them all numerous times. I will never return even if it was free. Pros: Parking (Vallet), View Cons: Food, Price more

impressive view, so so food 7/22/2005

checked out Lemont last week. very impressed by the veiw and ambience. the warm feeling did not last after we lasted our food. very ordinary appetizers and food. highlight was the dessert. probably won't go back. Pros: romantic view Cons: food not great more

Great view, high price 5/26/2005

We ate at Lemont during a very slow night. As you might expect, the service was very good and the food arrived quickly. We thought the food was excellent though my swordfish bordered on bland. The desserts are fantastic. The wines however, are dramatically overpriced. You will have to scour the wine menu to find one under $100 and then you feel like a cheapskate ordering a ""cheap"" bottle. The view is to die for however and, if you can get past the wine prices, it's a great dining experience. Pros: The VIEW!, Attentive service, Rich atmosphere Cons: Overpriced wines more

You pay a lot for the view!!! 5/25/2005

My family and I went here for a post graduation dinner. We heard so much about this place. The view overlooking the city and water was breathtaking. The service was excellent. But a restaruant is not a restaurant if the food does not match everything else that comes along with it. We had a party of six and every single entree was below average. We ended up paying over $70 per person! What a disappointment. Pros: scenery, service Cons: expensive, below average food more

Nice view, great desserts, bad food 3/22/2005

Went there for a group catered event. The view was gorgeous, but the food is pretty bad. Only the beginning (the salad) and the end (dessert) were good. The meat entrees were barely edible and the other stuff was hardly impressive. There must be other restaurants on Mt. Washington with better food. Pros: view, dessert Cons: expensive, entrees more

Gonna lose a star 8/31/2003

The best thing Le Mont has going is the view. Wait and bus staff are attentive, but hurried. Wine steward is helpful but not pushy. Waited over an hour from our salad to our entree (the waiter said a banquet was being served). The banquet no doubt were the people walking around in blue jeans. When the entree was served, the plate was hot but the food was cold. The bill has a tip line for the Maitre d'. Why? He should be tipped before seating. For a lousy table and no follow up..tip?? Pros: A grand view, superb wine list Cons: Slow service, uninspired sides, cold entrees more

Average 7/18/2003

We visited Le Mont on a busy night, however service was impeccable for the number of tables assigned to our waiter. The view from Mount Washington is the same from any of the restaurants facing the city, however the food is not. The menu is comparable to a two-star restaurant in NYC and the food is worse. My duck was incredibly dry and rather bland. Evidently, the 5-star rating is based strictly upon the view and the service. The menu (after all, that's why we go there) needs some large improvements. I very much wish that I had heeded caution from friends prior to making my reservations. more

edifice complex 1/9/2003

The view was wonderful, but the service fell far short of it's surroundings. Starving yourself 24 hours in advance of your reservation is recommended to avoid the brow-beating you'll receive from the wait staff if wine, a salad and an appetizer are all you desire. Prematurely calculating a 20% gratuity as I order is not what I expect from a waiter who's job it is to help make my dining experience pleasurable. As our waiter belittled my selection throughout the evening, comparing it to the entrees of my companions, I had to wonder if someone hadn't brought their edefice complex with them to work that evening. Service, not the size of the bill is what commands a generous gratuity and our waiter was fortunate I was not taking care of the tab. With good food and a great view, it was unfortunate that our waiter seemed so out of place. Pros: great view, good food Cons: wait staff more

5 STAR Mediocrity 1/7/2003

Had a bad experience with the service for our anniversary last year- called the next day and voiced my concerns. Received a nice gift certificate in the mail from the manager (who was very receptive to my criticisms). Decided to try LeMont again (and use the gift certificate, of course). Good, professional service but it was obviously another busy night so the intimate attention to detail was lacking...disappointing. Obviously if you go for dinner at LeMont, you know that you'll pay for it. Just wish they'd step up a notch and make you feel like you're in a real 5 star restaurant. Probably won't go again anytime soon. Pros: great view, romantic atmosphere Cons: inconsistent service more

No Time, Anytime. 10/2/2002

The view is all this resturant has going for it! The food is tasteless and definiatly overpriced. When you make a reservation for eight and are not seated at your table until 9:45 there is a problem! The staff was rushed and made us feel rushed with our meal. Since when does a waitress ask about dessert in the middle of an entree? Will nit go back. Pros: view Cons: expensive, wait staff, parking more

very elegant 8/22/2002

Recently, I took my boyfriend to Le Mont to surprise him. The restaurant is very elegant, and the view of Pittsburgh is beautiful. He ordered filet mignon, which was incredibly tender. I ordered the macadamia nut fish, which was pretty tasteless except for the sauce that was on it. The shrimp that came with it was very sweet, and tasted great, though! The service was adequate, but not great. We had 10:00 reservations, though, so the waiter must have been exhausted. Overall, it was nice to do once, but not worth going back again. Pros: near Duquesne incline, beautiful view Cons: tipping the maitre de, very expensive more

very romantic 8/7/2002

This has the best view of the Pittsburgh skyline which is just beautiful and the food is very good. Pros: view is beautiful Cons: expensive more

Fall in Love at Le Mont 7/30/2002

This is the most romantic restaurant I have ever been to. Service was professional and extravagant. Perfect for special occassions with a loved one. You will fall in love all over again. Pros: romatic atmosphere, great city view, excellant food Cons: Expensive more

Raw deal 6/24/2002

The service was very good our waiter Tony was attentive, non-intrusive and very professional overall. Unfortunately, everything else was far below average for that price range. Absolutely nothing exciting about the food plain and unimaginative, if not poorly done i.e. in this establishment beauf Wellington is a grilled tenderloin steak sitting on top of puff pastry cake; Or, for that matter, crabcakes had more spices in them than an average south Indian dish. The wines are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive i.e. a bottle of modest 98 Rosemount estate Shiraz that goes for $15 in the wine shop will cost you $85 there. All in all, a $200 dinner for two in that place would give you just a little more than a nice view of the city. Pros: service, view Cons: lousy food, expensive more

Good Steak 6/20/2002

We visited Pittsburgh and were told we should try this place. Great suggestion, the view, service, food and wines were very good. We had steaks which were cooked just right - medium rare, they were tender and tasty. The wine was great, although not inexpensive. The service was very good also, attentive without being intrusive. Overall we had a nice visit - two nights in town, one dinner at Le Mont and one at Ruth's Chris, not shabby at all. Pros: Food, Service, Wine more
