Le Happy is a funky but quaint little after hours hole in the wall, serving AMAZING food. Local art on the walls, Daniel Johnston playing in the background, and serving until alm...

Let me start by saying that the food, while small in portion, has been good each time I've been here. This particular time it was not the food, but the pretentious service that re...

Great Change of Pace 2/5/2003

I found the menu imaginative. The place is SMALL, though, so if it's cold outside you may end up standing over people that are seated as you wait for a table. Service was friendly, food served relatively quickly. Good value, although you might want to order more than one entree if you are hungry. Pros: Unique menu, Friendly staff Cons: Limited seating, Minute portions more

Something different... 1/17/2003

It's nice to have more options when limited to a budget and this creperie provides exactly that. Lots of tasty crepes to choose from and all very reasonably priced. The atmosphere alone at Le Happy is worth the cost and more. Pros: good food, fun atmosphere Cons: long waits for food more

The place for crepes in Portland 11/17/2002

Since moving back from San Francisco, I've been searching for a crêpe place and we happened upon La Happy in our quest. It is exactly what we are looking for, but worked out to be better. First, the make your own crêpes have lots of different and extremely flavourful items to choose from - and if you are lost the staff makes good suggestions on what will taste good. Second, the place is great to go if you want a relaxing meal that gives you time to talk. The service is slow and the meal preparation takes a while. They usually only have two people working and they seem to be able to make only two crêpe a time. But this unhurried approach just gives you time to enjoy some of their great cider. Pros: Great crêpes, Inexpensive more

Dessert Crepes To Die For 11/5/2002

Le Happy offers a wonderful and funky dining experience for a price that doesn't break the bank. Their selection of crepes is fabulous, from simple to more original creations. The wait staff is efficient and friendly in a hip-not-a-barbie sort of a way and offers thoughtful food suggestions to those debating between two or more entrees. Their half-steak is tasty and an excellent addition to one of the lighter crepes. The dessert crepes are a must, so be sure to save room for at least one. Pros: Excellent Crepes, Inexpensive Cons: Bit out of the way more

One more crêpe disk, please. 10/16/2002

I love this place. I love that it is open late, that everyone including the staff is having fun. I love the ubiquitous Portland look of red & black walls, candlelight and whimsical personalization. I love the crêpe fillings -- Chevre with carmelized onions, chicken & curry, pesto, chorizo. The only little thing is that we usually come in a group, and as they only appear to have two crêpe disks and each dish is lovingly made to order, by the time the order is ready, most of the crêpes are soggy on the outside. I know the kitchen is small, but squeezing in one more crêpe disk could make all the difference in the world. Pros: Open late, Fun atmosphere, Great fillings more

Le SNAZZY! 7/29/2002

From the über-chic patrons, to the stunning and witty hostess, to the coveted outdoor tables, Le Happy is a fun, friendly, and cool place to hang out. The crépes are fantastic and cheap. And ya gotta love the books and the games. It's a regular Barrel Of Monkeys©! Pros: Cool Neighborhood, Smoking after 2200, Attractive Staff Cons: Tidy and Hip Toilets more

one of a kind !!! 6/26/2002

come on, a restaurant/bar that serves only crepes ?! was stunned at the menu and options: the dessert menu was orgasmic, seductive atmosphere (wall made of nothing but flowers???!!!) and so cozy. the location/neighborhood is a bit off but so worth it. Pros: menu, variet, make your own items Cons: location, too small, can be loud more
