We had at least four different waiters on our last visit to Le Central - and none of them paid a bit of attention to us! We were forgotten about over and over, and even our order...

What Happened? 8/14/2003

It hurts to write this review. Having a positive review listed on Le Central's website, I hate to contradict it, but I must. This is not the same place. They are going downhill, and I fear they may not press the brakes until it's too late. The bread has changed to a poorer selection. The water glasses and silverware are frequently dirty. The service is lacking, although they are trying to do a tag-team sort of server process. The menu does change but it needs to change more often. I do like the prix fixe option, but don't pawn off the poor desserts on this menu. The last Friday night I was there, it was near empty, in Le Central's standards. Let's hope it gets better and not before it gets worse. I hope to say Quelle Suprise, not Quelle Dommage. Pros: Genuinely French, Great Wine List, Prix Fixe option Cons: Weak Service, Dirty silverware and glasses more

Very Nice! 8/3/2003

We enjoyed our wine, our food was wonderful, and the service was helpful and pleasant. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an evening of pleasure without breaking the bank. Pros: value, quality, sevice Cons: parking, parking, parking more

Good food, charming atmosphere 5/13/2003

I have been to Le Central a couple of times and am surprised anyone could give it a bad review. It is not the fastest or best service, however it is certainly adequate. It is also fairly inexpensive with a lot of good food. The mussels are a particularly good bargain. The atmosphere is charming. more

Great Lunch Value 5/6/2003

Le Central is a great bargain for lunch. We got there about 11:30 and was seated promptly. The service was great, even for being as crowded as it was and the food was good quality and there was definitely enough of it. If you're in the area it's worth stopping by, but think ahead for parking spots... Pros: quality food, good service, great value Cons: parking scarce, a little crowded more

Wait Not Rewarded 4/23/2003

Le Central seems to have a policy of late seating. It's 20 - 30 minutes after your reservation time, at least on Saturday, and there's very little waiting room. The food's acceptable but not excellent, and there are a lot more tables than is sensible for the space. We scrunched in out of concern for the waiters. The staff does well under the circumstances but I cannot imagine I'll ever return on a Saturday night. more

Excellent restaurant 3/27/2003

This restaurant is splendid whether you are on a date or with a group. The service was remarkably pleasant, and the atmosphere was like none other. Oh, the deserts are absolutely to die for. more

Oui! 3/17/2003

A fantastic value. You can't beat a HUGE bowl of mussles and all the frites you can eat for $6.95. Sure the place gets crowded, but that's a good sign right? The daily specials are usually french classics or a slight variation. I had the rabbit recently and it was wonderful. The wine list is somewhat limited but features many affordable options. Overall, it's a good, quaint, affordable spot to break bread with friends and family. Pros: Very Affordable, Inexpensive Wines, Good Food Cons: Sometimes Crowded more

Great lunch place 2/7/2003

Mountains of mussels and lots of other good seafood in a cozy spot. Always a good bed for an inexpensive but special lunch. more

French? 1/13/2003

As romantic as it may sound, this restaurant serves overcooked food and has very unpleasant servers with the attatude they probably don't know where it came from. I tried to give this restaurant several chances but my experience in finding anything worth spending time there faded as my visits did. You'll have better luck somewhere else if you are looking for a good French food. more

Go often. 1/2/2003

This is one of my favorites. The menu changes often and is always full of resonable entrees and special prix fixe menus. more

Wonderful time and again 12/14/2002

My wife and I have dined on several occasions and always found the food wonderful and the service tremendous. A great value for your money. Pros: Great value, Great service Cons: Small waiting area more

YUM! 12/5/2002

Lunch at Le Central can't be beat! ""Affordable French food"" is their motto, and that it is! Everything we've tried there is wonderful, and a very good value! Pros: Great food Cons: Metered parking more

Denver's Affordable French Restaurant!!! 11/15/2002

Delicious food. The restaurant usually does a theme each month. One price for the entire meal. The chef uses fresh, interesting ingredients. Well worth a visit!!! more

revenu apres une longue absence 11/8/2002

It has been un petit moment (over a year) since I last dined at Le Central. This past Saturday my son insisted that we eat our family celebration there. The kids wanted steak frites and in spite of the business, the chef graciously granted their request. The food was very good (from appetizers to desserts). The wine was a great bargain. And the service (from reception to departure) was outstanding for a saturday night. Worth returning of my own accord now. Pros: value of wine, wine selection, cost of food Cons: who eats out on Sat more

Uncultured Americans beware 11/4/2002

Let's get this straight: when you go to a French restaurant, you DON'T order soda. You choose a nice affordable wine to accompany your meal - and Le Central has plenty to choose from. Le Central offers truly affordable French cuisine, unlike expensive Denver counterparts like Tante Louise and Potager. And what I like best is you get your money's worth. If you're hungry, order up some mussels and fries - priced under ten dollars. Central's salads are wonderful as is most of their other dishes. Hey Mr. I hate Beets: get a grip. Next time ask to leave them off or replace them. And please - fish smells no matter what you do with it. If you've ever been to restaurants in France, you'd know that your nose is constantly bombarded with different smells. Stay at Wendys. But the rest of you should get in to Le Central. Pros: Wonderful food, Very affordable, Nice atmosphere more

no free refills 10/28/2002

The food is excellant and a fair price. The sodas are very small and expensive. It gets the price of the meal way up if you need two or three sodas with your meal. more

Just one problem. 10/22/2002

The food is great. The service is great. The location is great. The price is great. Deffinately one of the best values in Denver. This place would be perfect if it were not for one little problem. The table next to you is close enough to reach over and take food off of their plates. This place needs to take out about 30% of their tables. I like a little space when I eat. But I will continue to go back and suffer because of all the other positives. Pros: Great Food, Great Service Cons: No elbow room, Too many tables more

Great Food & Price 10/14/2002

Even if your not a French food buff, Le Central has a wonderful selection of food for any taste bud with a price to match. This is the second time we have visited Le Central. Of course the Onion Soup is wondefful. You'll leave with your stomachs full and still have gas money to get home. Pros: Great selection, Affordable more

Kowboy Kultshure 10/3/2002

Le Central is the sparkling gem in a town that hosts the National Stockshow every January. A wonderful menu selection--but better--the fabulous wine list! For those seeking a refreshing change from Denver's classic Steak and Sports Grills/Bars Le Central is classy, distinctive and delicious. Pros: great service, great value, great wine Cons: parking, parking, parking more

Perfection 9/24/2002

Its too bad there arent' more resturants like Le Central in Denver. My finace and I had an amazing meal this past saturday evening. The mussels were mouthwatering and the Duck was cooked to perfection. I suggest saving a bit of room for desert, as they are to die for. The best part about this resturant is there afforable prices and excellent selections of wines. The waitstaff was friendly and the gave great service. I cant wait to go back! more
