Best

""i have been here several times i find they have several choices and are very willing to modify an item. The service is always good and sometime excellent, but the food is alway...

Worst

good, but we dont go as often. service is not the same.

my dinner at lawry's 12/16/2008

i was very disappointed. the prime rib was not tasty it was very bland. the pumpkin cheese cake was dry and hard to cut thru. over all the food was poor. they were serving happy hour food, meat balls and potato chips, this was better tasting than the main meal. the christmas carolers were very good they sang at each table. valet parking is $6.00 and $8.00 if you drive a large car. it is a rip off because you don't see extra two dollars written in small numbers until you go pick up your car. more

Lawry's is great for Birthdays 8/4/2006

My friends and I ritualistically take each other to Lawry's for our prospective birthdays. They don't take reservations, but the bar area is beautiful and they have complimentary freshly cut potato chips and meatballs (yum), but don't fill up because dinner is always the same - perfect. Love that horseradish cream sauce for the meat, occasionally I will get a lobster tail, too. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Tell them when you are seated that it's your birthday and they may bring you a free dessert, too. more

Hasn't changed EVER 7/21/2006

But that is a good thing. I remember how exciting it was eating here as a kid. The huge light main dining room, the carvers with their meat carts, the spinning bowls of salad with that amazing sherry French dressing. I remember taking girlfriends here, late at night and finding tables hidden away were we good eat and whisper to each other until they threw us out. Eating hear is always a treat, it's as if time stands still when you come in the door. Oh...And the prime rib is fantastic. more

Lawry's: The Prime Rib 3/19/2006

I am very particular when it comes to my prime rib. And by particular, I mean that nothing beats out the Diamond Jim Brady cut of prime rib from Lawry's. Oh, just thinking about it makes my mouth water. Everything about Lawry's restaurant is classic and tasteful. From the moment your car is taken away by the complementary valets to the moment you walk into the elegant dining room, you know that you have arrived in a place of grand style. If you want to treat your special someone to a dinner he/she will never forget, Lawry's is definitely the place to do it. Make sure you make reservations and don't forget to wear your Sunday best. My boyfriend took me to that restaurant in Beverly Hills for our two and a half year anniversary last year.. and yeah. It was a night I will never forget, especially when the evening was capped off by our waiters bringing in a candle and a cake, singing "Happy Anniversary!" to us. Awesome stuff. "The Beef Bowl." A neat little trivia about this restaurant: every year, before the Rose Bowl game, Lawry's in Beverly Hills hosts each participating team separately to feast on some yummy meat. This tradition has been going strong over the last 50 years. more

Meat Carts! 1/17/2006

This is truly an indulgence of the carnivorous kind. The "meat cart" wheeled around with a huge hunk of beef on it is where the Prime Rib is served from in cuts ranging from big, to bigger, to ridiculous! The salad is fresh and delicious, the ambiance is like your favorite buffet going all ritzy. I suggest the Creamed Corn as a side. more

YUM 11/20/2005

Lawry's Prime Rib has THE best prime rib of any prime rib restaurant anywhere! It's a bit pricy, but it's well worth the food you get. It's a great place for a birthday, or an anniversary. It's also in a great area; wine and dine with the stars! Don't forget to try their creamy corn - they are famous for their cream corn! Definitely a 10 on my list! more

Best Prime Rib 8/4/2005

This place is soooooooo good...for the price that you pay, I'd say it's only moderately expensive. They give you generous portions and huge side dishes. Another thing is that when they cut the prime rib for you, if it's too rare or too well done for you, you can tell them. The chef will throw that piece away and cut you another piece. the lighting in there is perfect and the servers are very friendly to you. don't forget to try the desserts, they're pretty big portions, so you might want to share it with some other people at your table. more

The BEST melt-in-your-mouth prime rib! 7/27/2005

Lawry's on Los Angeles' Restaurant Row (La Cienega Blvd. from Wilshire Blvd. to Santa Monica Blvd.) executes its plan perfectly, every time. They serve prime rib out of great-looking stainless-steel rolling carts with servers slicing your cut to order. They give you choices of different sizes for any appetite, different degrees of doneness, with or without bone. Make no mistake--this is PRIME rib, not choice or anything else. The meat is incredibly flavorful, juicy and tender. Yum! They are also famous for spinning your Caesar salad at your table, which is entertaining and the salad is delicious. The piece-de-resistence is the "Yorkshire Pudding," which is a type of bread, like a large popover, which they serve fresh and hot to each individual. Does not need butter, it is so delicious it is just perfect as served. Don't be shy about asking for more, they are happy to oblige. Side dishes of spinach, mushroom caps, corn, etc. are huge and delicious. The portions are so large, I have never gotten to the desserts, but they sure look good. Reservations necessary--the place is huge, but crowded. Excellent, friendly service, too. more
