I bought a Yorkie and found out later she had parvovirus. I had to bring her back, though she was soooo cute it broke my heart. I don't wish this on anybody. I wish I had been ...

Incredible Staff 5/4/2008

I started my relationship with Laughlin Kennel through E-mail. I know that the person i was corresponding with must have found me annoying for asking all of the questions, but they were very polite and helpful. They told me to set up and appointment with the person in the office. The girl I spoke to, Cassie, was very polite, and full of answers. I came in the next day, Wednesday, and work with a very nice pair of guys. I asked to see no less then six breeds and the boys were very compliant. After about an hour of questions and checking out the pups I decided on a beautiful cavalier. I named him Eustace. He's perfect. I thank Laughlin Kennel for bringing him to me. Pros: Everything Cons: - more

STAY AWAY - needs to be shut down 5/2/2008

I want to advise people to stay away from Laughlin Kennel in Oxford, MA. When I got my yorkie I had done very little research and just went to ""look"" at the yorkies as I had only ever seen maybe one in person before. I had planned on leaving there and doing more research to find a reputable breeder etc. I got there and was horrified. They had at least one dog from over 20 different breeds to choose from. I could not see where they were all kept (I am assuming stacked cages in the basement from what I could hear and how the puppies all looked and smelled) nor would they let me see when asked. The staff was also unprofessional and could not give straight answers on anything. This is when they brought my future yorkie up. \r \r \r There were probably 5 other families/people in the room at this time looking at other breeds and when they brought this tiny yorkie up. She was so small and helpless in this crazy place that I had to get her out of there and take her home. I did not in any way want to contribute to a kennel or potential puppy mills (as she had actually come from Missouri or something) but I could not leave without her.\r \r \r She was very close to being hypoglycemic (can easily lead to death if not treated). She could not even hold her head up and would not walk around when put on the ground. After her 1st vet appt. we learned she had Giardia (an internal parasite) and she still has it now and we have had her for over 4 months and she has gone through 3 rounds of treatment. She also had tapeworm (we found out a bit later) when we got her as well and extremely dry flaking skin. None of this was caught or treated while she was at Laughlin even though she had the illnesses when we got her.\r \r \r I love her more than anything and would not trade her for the world but my advice is to stay away from this place and find a reputable breeder for your future pet that is not sick and kept in horrendous living conditions and care!!! Cons: broker to puppy mills, puppies kept in cages, unprofessional more

Professional is what Laughlin Kennel is! 4/17/2008

Lauglin Kennel Staff are real dog professionals! Their web page is well set up and easy to use. Phone calls and emails were (and still are) returned in a timely manor. We were experiencing the grief that comes with the loss of a old dear family dog. The house was quiet and just plan lonely. My wife and I thought about it and decided we would like to drive out to Laughlin. We emailed them and called and that afternoon we had our new pup Mischief Maker at home. He gets into everything, but has brought us Joy and laughter. He is nine months old now and has been healthy since day one. He did eat a whole sock, that gave us a scare, but that is what having a puppy is all about! Thank you Laughlin. You guys are the very best. Laughlin Staff made buying our new puppy a easy and fun experience. Pros: Nice fat healthy puppies Ready to take home! Cons: I can't think of one! more

World's Best Dog came from here 4/14/2008

Fourteen years ago we got Sammy, a Chocolate Lab, here at Laughlin Kennel. He was absolutely the greatest dog, right from the start -- smart, loving and (believe it or not) responsible. At night he would get up and make the rounds checking each of our children. He helped us keep our kids from going into the road. Just a great dog.\r \r A few weeks after we had to put him down, we decided we needed another dog. We decided to get a girl, and a smaller dog. We naturally thought of the same place and were a little surprised to discover that they are not only still there, but going stronger than ever. We ""shopped"" on their web site and decided on a very cute little Cavalier/Poodle cross.\r \r That was about four weeks ago and we just had to post a review because we have gotten just the sweetest and loving and smart puppy for the second time in a row. Pros: selection, the web site, helpful employees, no pressure to buy Cons: wish their office were a little bigger more

Nightmarish and sad 4/13/2008

I went to see their selection of puppies and was immediately concerned upon arrival. Then it got worse. I had driven a long distance, based on positive reviews and the professional looking website. There is a penned off area to the side with possibly hundreds of barking dogs. The area is marked authorized personnel only, seemingly for a reason. There are two teenaged employees who bring animals in and out for families to play in a way too small room. Some of the dogs are visibly traumatized. The staff were trying to be helpful, but they were clearly lacking knowledge about the details of the pets. I wanted to rescue the dogs I liked, but I couldn't see paying 800 dollars apiece for puppies whose treatment at the kennel had been so grossly substandard. In my search for a good pet, I have learned that even the places that advertise well aren't necessarily as advertised. While I'm sure many people have gotten good pets from Laughlin Kennels, it is likely the ""after"" love and care and sheer law of large numbers that brought them healthy pups. This kennel is a sad statement for what the puppy market has become -- the opposite of humane and driven by greed and carelessness. Pros: Large selection of dogs Cons: Poor conditions, over-crowding, poorly cared for animals more

I'm a repeat costumer, and I'll go back again! 3/15/2008

I have bought two dogs from Laughlin Kennel, and both are fantastic! I have a twelve year old dachshund, Kosher, and a three month old dachshund, Slinky. Both dogs are amazing and I blame Laughlin for that. They treat their costumers like family, and have the most helpful staff of any store that I have ever been to. They have a great health guarantee that truly caters to the costumer. I have had no problems with this business and recommend them to all. The environment there is great, the people there are great, and best of all, the puppies are great. Pros: Family run, in house business. Cons: I don't have enough money to buy them all. more

It's not hard to find a puppy Laughlin's got them! 3/15/2008

My family went to Laughlin Kennel because we were looking for a pup. We looked all over! We started with rescues and shelters but they didn't have much and what they had was just not what we wanted. The shelters were hard to deal with. It cost about the same to buy a new pup! We found Laughlin on the web. They have such a beautiful web site! You can see all the dogs on the web and shop all you want! We even printed out pictures of the pups we were interested in. When we got there they brought them all to us! We were helped by a man named Chris and a man named James they were so helpful. They warned us before we came that it could be busy on the weekend and it was. We bought two tiny little Puggles. We had to wait and take our turn when we bought them but we had to wait at the vet too! I would highly recommend Laughlin. My family is so happy with our new family members! We took both the girls to the vet and both were wonderful! Beautiful and healthy!!!! No problems. The dogs were clean the place was clean. My family had a wonderful experience. We will go back and I will tell all my friends to go there when they a pup. Pros: Nice Healthy puppies, Nice place, nice people! Cons: They could use more sales space. more

can you say puppymill????? help spread the word!!!! 3/14/2008

Saw her 11/9 w/a clean bill of health by L/K Vet., so we p/u on 11/10.Sunday she began coughing, wheezing, gagging, so we called L/K, but no answer. Called our own Vet 11/12/07.They got us in & Dr. found that she ?had? kennel cough which turned into pneumonia & also did a fecal check which showed Giardia, and stated that the puppy had been treated at L/K for this parasite on 11/9/07.Find it hard to believe that a licensed Vet didn't find anything wrong after a thorough exam @ L/K. We gave L/K a call to let them be alerted of this very contagious infection & wanted to know if they would at least cover the cost of the med's needed to treat her illness that she got in their care. Their sad and disgusting answer to this was?We do not cover vet bills. You can bring her back for a refund or you can pick out another puppy?! Well the girl we spoke to told us it was out of her hands and that she would have the manager call us back. It has now been months, still no call. SAD!!!!\r \r \r more

So so 3/10/2008

A co worker purchased a puggle from the kennels , I was impressed with the quality and service she got so on a Saturday to suprise my husband we took a ride out ... \r \r When we arrived there was a couple holding a yorkie , the young man that was there asked what we were interested in and we told him , but then an Asian family came in 7 or 8 of them and we were soon forgotten and had to wait in the small area while they were waited on. It wasnt exactly the cleanest and I was a bit disturbed that we had to let them get the dogs that there was no show room so we couldnt see all they offered . to me it tells alot about the kennel. \r \r I was grateful though , up came a puggle that ignored everyone but my children and after looking at a few dogs , even a schnauzer that looked sickly we picked the dog ... so we paid the Man and when he gave us her papers I saw she had kennel cough quite a while and her last bout was Feb 1 , We bought her March 1. \r \r So far she is doing fine , she has her first vet appointment Wednesday and I am concerned she is biting alot but I wouldnt bring her back if something was wrong. Puppys get sick like everyone else ,no one can determine when .. Maybe before purchasing an animal bring them to your vet to be checked out let them hold your credit card till the dog is purchased or returned .. \r \r \r I feel bad for those who had bad experiences , especially animal lovers its like losing a child .. Pros: Variety of dogs to choose from Cons: $$$$ for non AKC, Customer service and dirty more

Worst place ever!!!!! 3/7/2008

I bought a St. Bernard puppy from this horrible place! She was ok for a couple days took her to vet for first eval she had parasites! She ended up in the hospital many times near death from the parasites, pneumonia, and a viral infection all at the agge of 5 months. i have over $10,000.00 in medical bills for my baby! When ever we called this place no owner would call us back ! i have a person at the ASPCA who is well aware of this matter and is gathering information as to how to get them shut down for good they are uncaring animal abusers as far as i am concerned i would never recomend this place and hope some day soon they will be closed for good!!!! Cons: everything about this place more

Laughlin Kennel Cares! 1/2/2008

I bought a pup for my kids and family for Christmas. I can't begin to tell you what a wonderful experience it was. We looked some other places but Laughlin had a staff that really new their business. They talked to us in the office while we looked at pups. They helped us pick the pup that was a perfect fit for our family. She is a healthy pup in every way. She will be a happy member of our family for years to come. Thank you Laughlin. I would never buy any where else! Pros: Great pups! Fun Experience. more

Bought three dogs from laughlin kennel in the past 14 years 12/31/2007

I bought my first golden, Gidget, from Laughlin kennel 14 years ago. Shortly after we purchased a black lab, Moondoggie. Both have been complete joys to our family. Recently my Gidget passed away. Without looking anywhere else we went back to Laughlin kennel for our third puppy. Once again, I am happy to report that our new family member Mindy, a minpin, is a healthy happy and wonderful addition. Although the kennel was more crowed and busy then I had remembered, the staff was helpful, friendly, and extremely patience with my babbling on about my last purchases from their business. Over the past 14 years my husband and I have recommended Laughlin Kennel to our friends and I will continue to do so. Go there, you will be happy you did! Pros: You will love your pup! Cons: Parking is tough more

My pups frist home was Laughlin! 12/31/2007

We bought a Christmas pup at Laughlin kennel in Oxford MA. This is not our first Laughlin pup. We bought the last one 12 yrs. ago. We were so happy with him we would never go anywhere else. The Kennel was a busy place lots of people who wanted a Christmas pup. There was a young man named Chris who helped us. He was great! He helped my kids pick the pup that was a perfect fit for our family. Not to big, Not to small just right! I loved that they had a contract so we could all see what is expected of both us the puppy owner and the kennel. Our pup went to the Vet today and is in perfect health. Our new pup is learning fast! he loves his big bother( Our older dog). We had some questions so we called and talked to Christine, She spent a lot of time with us. The Laughlin Staff is top notch just like the puppies they sell! I highly recommend Laughing Kennel! Pros: You get to leave with the pup that is right for you! Cons: They could use more space on the sale floor. more

PUPPY MILL 12/31/2007

PLEASE DO NOT EVER BUY A PUPPY FROM HERE! THIS PLACE IS NOTHING BUT A PUPPY MILL WHO ADVERTISE HEALTHY PUPPIES WHEN IN ALL REALITY THEY ARE NOT. I GOT A PUPPY FOR MY KIDS FOR X-MAS AND AFTER ONLY A DAY OF BEING HOME I RUSHED HER TO THE VET. TURNS OUT SHE HAS pneumonia SO SEVERE SHE WOULD HAVE DIED IF I DIDN'T BRING HER TO THE VET. THE VET BILL WAS WELL OVER $800 AND THE KENNEL REFUSED TO PAY IT BUT SAID THEY WOULD EXTEND HER "" WARRANTY"" COME ON THIS IS A PUPPY NOT A CAR! PLEASE TELL FAMILY & FRIENDS OR ANYONE YOU KNOW TO NOT PURCHASE A PUPPY FROM THESE PEOPLE! more

Laughlin is the Best! 12/30/2007

We have a sick child and all she wanted for Christmas was a puppy. The people at the Laughlin kennel were kind to my Family and helpful in every way they could be. The vet said our new Christmas puppy is remarkable! We were able to give our girl a wonderful Christmas and a friend to share her time and experiences with. Laughlin helped us pick the nicest sweetest pup that fit right into our family. If you have special needs or concerns tell them they can and will help. They have a terrific Web site and answered our emails promptly. Laughlin was great! I will recommend them to every one ! Thank You Laughlin !\r \r \r \r more

Looking for a puppy LAUGHLIN KENNEL is where to go! 12/16/2007

\r \r \r \r \r \r This is second little yorkie we have bought from them. We knew we wanted a pup so we watched their web page until we saw the most beautiful little girl in the world. We called them and drove right out. Everyone is so helpful. They Talked to me for a long time answering My questions. After I got my puppy home I had a lot of questions. My first Yorkie didn't like her new Little sister. They helped us though that I think they talked to me every day for two or three weeks. Both of my girls have been healthy since day one. Both have made my family happy and brought joy and love and mischief. Thanks Laughlin. We love ya! Pros: The Laughlin Kennel Web site. Cons: You just want to keep going back more

Laughlin Kennels is a HORRIBLE place. 12/15/2007

In early October, I purchased a Yorkshire Terrier from them. They told me she was in perfect health with paperwork from their vet assuring this. Also saying she was AKC registered. I brought her home and within several days of her being home, she started getting real sleepy and sick. I brought her to the vet several times and was she had parasites, and was malnourished due to prior healthcare from where I had bought her. After spending over 3,000 in vet bills my puppy passed away today. I called Laughlin Kennels to talk to them about this and they did not want to hear anything I had to say. Telling me it was not their problem it was mine, I was the one who bought the dog. In addition, that I could try to shut them down but it would not work. I still have no received her AKC papers and they said it will take up to 4 months to get them, who knows if I ever will get them. These people are HORRIBLE. They sell sick dogs and do not even care. It is horrifying that someone must go through this; it broke my heart when my puppy died and these animals do not deserve to be treated this way. PLEASE PLEASE do not buy any more animals from this place they need to be shut down. more

Thank goodness for Laughlin! 11/27/2007

About a month ago we lost our little dog to a tragic accident. I needed to replace Dixon right away. My kids needed a new pup and one of my kids is special needs. Dixon was her dog. I went to the Laughlin web site picked out a pup and went to buy her. While we still miss our Dixon, we love the new pup. Priss is a breath of fresh air. When we took her to the vet she checked out fine. They had many pups to pick from. They are easy to deal with - there was no pressure. They patiently answer questions completely. Even after the sale. Everything was clean and in good order. I felt compelled to write a review because it is only natural to like the people who make a family complete. We needed Priss. Thank you Laughlin Kennel, for making it possible to get her. Pros: It's a wonderful place to find a pup. You can take it home right away. Cons: A lot of people on the weekends. more

Bullies are the best! 11/25/2007

This is a wonderful place to buy a puppy. We were referred to them by a neighbor who had a Wheaten Terrier from them. They have a lot of different puppies to choose from. We called a couple of times and they almost always had bulldog pups, so when we were ready to buy it was really easy. The staff was very helpful. It was very busy when we were there and they still took a lot of time to answer questions. I asked where he came from, because they didn't breed him there, and they said a government licensed Kennel. That's all I care about. He was clean and so was the facility. When we got home I made an appointment with our vet. When we went, the vet said he was a happy healthy pup. The pup was up to date on shots and had a healthy vet check. He has become part of the family. He is wonderful with kids and we love him. I would recommend Laughlin kennel to family, friends and anyone who is looking for a pup. Pros: Lot's of nice pups, all price ranges. more

Cruel Puppy Mill Brokers 11/24/2007

Please, please, please do not purchase animals from this kennel! I recently purchased a $2000 puppy who was supposedly AKC registered and from a reputable breeder. He was ""checked out by their vet"" and given a clean bill of health, and I was told that he received all of his vaccines. Within 3 days of bringing him home, I realized he was sick and brought him to the vet. The vet told me that he had intestinal parasites, pneumonia, and had signs of malnutrition; all of which would have been caused long before I got him. I called Laughlin to let them know, and they were extremely rude and unhelpful, basically saying that it was not their problem. When I asked to speak to the owners of the kennel, the staff members told me that ""the owners do not speak to customers"". I have since learned from other customers and from ex-staff members that Laughlin knowingly purchases these dogs from puppy mills and they are mistreated while at the kennel. I have already spent several thousand dollars on my puppy's vet bills (he had to be hospitalized), and Laughlin refuses to even attempt to make amends - I haven't even received an apology, let alone an offer to help with the vet bills. I love my dog dearly and would never give him back (especially since I'm sure, as my vet suggested, he would have died of neglect at that kennel if I hadn't taken him when I did), but being the avid animal lover I am, I heartily encourage anyone considering this kennel to look elsewhere - they need to be shut down.
