We were VERY excited to come to LaTorre after reading so many wonderful things about it. We were let down in a big way.\r
\r
When we arrived, there was no one around to greet us. We approached the bar where the bartender was diligently cleaning glasses, who nodded at a table ""over there"", suggesting we have a seat. The place was nearly deserted on a Thursday night at 8:30pm. \r

We ordered the Big Island Shrimp Cocktail (the shrimp were room temp & dish was bland) and the Empanaditas Rellanas (which were delicious). For our entrees, we had the Paella Latorre and the La Locura de Polla. The food was not cooked well in terms of flavor or temperature. Each time we requested a glass of wine or the desert menu or the check, we sat for nearly 10 minutes. At one point, our waiter poured my wine at the bar and then walked away to go begin breaking down tables. My wine sat on the bar for over 10 minutes! Again, the place was empty, with the exception of 2 other tables. For dessert, my date and I ordered the Ponque de Chocolate (which he LOVED!) and I had the Tres Leches Cafe'. The presentation was great, but my vanilla coffee cake was dry and flavorless. \r

The biggest letdown of the evening came with our check. Upon reviewing the charges, we noticed that we had been charged a different amount for 3 rounds of the exact same drink. The Greyhound cocktail my date had ordered was listed as being $9.50 for the first cocktail, $10.50 for the second cocktail and $9.00 for the third cocktail. We asked the bartender who brought our check how much the cocktail actually costs and then pointed out the obvious error to her. She said ""that's weird"", and then brought the credit card charge slip back to us a minute later with no correction of the charges. She smiled and said ""have a nice evening"". This is the same person who greeted us half-heartedly from behind a bar where no customers were sitting.\r

Overall, I'd say that this place isn't altogether together. \r
Pros: Knowledgeable waitstaff, great wine list
Cons: Bland food
