Last Tangle

Wow. My first great haircut in Overland Park. A+++++ Big thank you to Irina! I've lived here almost 10 years and have gone to some of the nicer salons in the area, Mario T, Xiphium, Double Take and a few others. They are nice salons, but I don't walk out with the haircut I want, I leave with the haircut they THINK I need. I often feel rushed in and out of the chair as these salons strive to meet their quotas for the day. I finally decided to research some other salons and wound up calling the Last Tangle after reading the reviews here. About Me: Late 30's, very thick hair, some damage due to coloring/processing. I booked an appt with Irina after reading several reviews and brought her a magazine pic of what I wanted to achieve. We talked through the cut to make sure it would work with my hair type, lifestyle, etc. I am one of those visual people who prefers to bring a picture in. I have found other salons try to disuade me from referring to a pic (even though the cut is appropriate for my hair type) because the ""artist"" wants his own leeway. No thank you. Irina did a wonderful job and really took her time to achieve exactly what I wanted! I can't say enough about her. My husband was also very impressed with my cut! Irina is also gentle with your hair (I really dislike stylists who aren't aware of how hard they are pulling your hair while shampooing/styling). The salon itself is clean and well organized. Everyone seems to get along well and it is a cheerful environment. The customers I saw were in their mid 30's and up. It is not stuffy or pretentious, and I didn't notice any attitudes/egos. I'm really glad I found this place...it is so nice to have someone take such pride in giving you the hairstyle you really want. Try the Last Tangle. You will feel relaxed and treated very special when you go to this salon. I always leave here relaxed and my face feels great. The bed is very cozy the staff is nice and courteous. I will always go there for my facials. Pros: I love the Facials here! Cons: N/A more

I highly recommend Katie Caffey at The Last Tangle for a wonderful facial! She is highly knowledgable and experienced and I fee like she truly listened to my concerns about my skin. I have a hard time getting a cut that pleases both myself and my husband. I explained to Darshita what I wanted and that is exactly what I got...and when I walked into my house, the first remark from my husband was, ""That looks nicce! Are you going to start going there?"" Talk about a miracle! That had never happened before. I'll definitely be back. The only draw back is distance, but it's worth it! I just moved to the area a few months ago from oversea. I'm Asian and I got frustrated from not being able to find anyone in the area to give me the haircut I like. Yesterday I got crazy and cut my own hair. To everyone out there, no matter how frustrated you are with you hair, never ever cut your own hair! I regretted it so much that I couldn't even sleep at night. So I went online and tried to look for a salon that others recommended. I saw Last Tangle with great reviews so I went to their website and asked for an appointment late at night. In the next morning, Jenny, the owner, e-mail me back early on and she immediately set me up an appointment with Irina. They absolutely did not judge me about cutting my own hair and Irina was so understanding and listened careful about what I want. Not only she listened, she has the knowledge and skill to give me feedback about how to fix my haircut. It was such a wonderful experience especially after the hair crisis I was going through. And the price was so reasonable to me. It was less that I expected in a salon like that. I would recommend everyone who has been frustrated about their haircut experience to try Last Tangle. Now that I know I can go back to Last Tangle, I no longer think that going to get a haircut feels worse than going to the dentist. I just want to spread the word that Irina at The Last Tangle is wonderful! I have had serious problems with my hair over the last year. I suffered a lot of hair loss afer I had a baby, was a victim of overprocessing at another salon and to make matters worse I had a nasty encounter with our grill which left a huge bald spot on the side of my head! I am so lucky to have found Irina! She has put extensions in my hair to fill it in where is trying to grow back. She is working with me on the right products to keep my new hair that is growing back healthy. I love my extensions and I feel so much better about my appearance. Not only is she very talented, she is very sweet and easy to talk to. It is very enjoyable each time I visit the salon. In fact everyone there is very friendly and helpful. What a friendly cool place. My stylist Irina worked wonders on me. She took the time to talk to me about my lifestyle and habits with my hair. That was a first. I look like a college student instead of an overworked librarian. I loved how she was not afraid to change me or give me suggestions. Things that I probably would have done if I had creativity w/ my hair. She really is a very talented artist. more

The Last Tangle had been suggested to me with rave reviews and I had also checked their website. I have difficult hair to work with -- coarse, thick and a mind of its own. It now has become the only salon I will go to when in Overland Park or near by. I had an appointment with Abby to cut and style my hair for a wedding that I was attending that evening. Couldn't have had a better experience. She listened very carefully to what details I gave her about the problems I have with my hair. Abby analyzed the situation correctly deciding on a razor cut and the perfect style for me. I received many compliments on my hair that evening and gave out the salon and Abby's name. The only sad thing is, I live so many hours away from Abby and The Last Tangle! The atmosphere was warm, friendly and fun. They are very knowledgeable about their work. It only took me 6 years of living in Kansas City to find a stylist who did exactly as I asked with my hair! I met Jenny Thomas at an event and after talking with her for a few minutes I knew I wanted her to cut my hair. She new what she was talking about and I could tell she would be great. It was the best haircut I have had since living here. And her salon is very comfy and welcoming. I won?t have anyone else cut my hair again and cant wait to try some of the other services they offer - a pedicure is first on my list, then maybe an eyebrow waxing, oh and definitely a massage! Glad I found Darshita, Last Tangle Salon, Threading Specialist-she's made my brows shapier and I have hope for my brows again. My first appt. with Darshita was amazing..how she was able to shape my brows from two bad treatments, I'll never know. I guess that's why she's a gifted beauty specialist. For 10+ years, I've been waxing my brows at normally same place, same person. Usually no problems until my last two experiences, because I relocated twice in the last couple of years. My brows were grown-out from two bad experiences (from two totally different salons). I had tried threading before and swore I would never do that again (that is until I found Darshita), it was painful and the lady made my brows uneven! So I had to let them grow-out until I could get an eyebrow waxing, but only for my brows to be over-waxed and still uneven and mismatched shaped! I was horrified and untrusting. But based upon the reviews from this site, I gave threading another a try. My brows are entrusted to Darshita, from here on, she's the beauty queen of eyebrow shaping. Did I mention, for me, it was a 45 min. drive, but worth it. By the way, the salon atmosphere was great-hospitality is what greets you at the door : ) more

I enjoy this salon. It is very well-run and has nice amenities--cookies, candy, tea, coffee, soft drinks, etc. But it is not overly fancy or intimidating like some pretentious ones I have been to. more

This salon has all of your needs. Hair, manicures, pedicures, facials, massage, waxing and great personal service. All of the staff are very personable an have great suggestions on new ideas. They keep up with the latest styles and attend seminars to stay up on hair care. They accommodate for bridal party's, children, men and really try to fit you in at your request. Pros: Always a smile on there face when you walk in. Ambience is nice takes you away from the busy outdoors. more

I am addicted to the Last Tangle's pedicures! Your feet and calves are treated to a variety of w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l products. And the soles of your feet will feel as soft as those of a newborn baby. The pedicurists are very proficient, outgoing and friendly. As a matter of fact, the whole staff at the salon is friendly and treat their customers like royalty. I only wish I could afford to have a pedicure every week! Try one; you won't go anywhere else. more

I love the Last Tangle. I know the owner personally and she is an amazing business owner. She is fair to her employees and they really respect and like her. When she and I meet up for coffee, she is always talking about ways to empower them to become the best stylists, aesteticians, massage therapists, mani/pedicurists, etc... that they can become. She often holds classes for them and encourages them to go to trainings all the time. I have never seen someone care about their employees the way she does. I had an excellent mens haircut the other day by Abby. She used a razor on it to thin it out and help it lay better. This was the first time that it had been done to my hair and I can't believe how well it layed for me after that! I must say I am extremely picky about my haircuts and this was one of the best cuts that I ever remember having. I would highly reccomend Abby's haircuts to anyone. I've been to Last Tangle a few times and love the clean fresh look of the salon and reasonable prices. The owner Jenny Thomas is the nicest person. She's very willing to help you get the results that you are looking for. I've also used her new esthetician, Leslie Smith. She's given me relaxing facials and brow waxing. Darshita is amazing. I am Persian so my eye brows is very thick and since I left my home country I never been able to find some one who did a great job as I use to have back home until I found Darshita. she is not just great at what she is doing but she also have a great personality. I recommend her for every lady who want her eye brows look great. more

Don't miss Becky Russie. She is lovely and really listens to what you want. If your hair cut is not right she will do a re-cut to make sure you are satisfied. She also gives a really nice, relaxing shampoo, sometimes hard to find in a stylist. Addtionally, she is great with eyebrow shaping and dying. I had never died, or shaped, my big bushy (no color) brows until Becky suggested I give it a try and now I Iove them! Make your next appt. with Becky Russie! more
