First place I go when visiting Palm Springs 8/30/2010

Whenever I'm anywhere near Palm Springs I make sure to stop by. In the evenings it can be a little busy but the atmosphere is great (especially on the patio) and the food is even better. I highly recommend the Machaca Burrito. more

Very good mexican for the chain atmosphere 4/3/2009

We stopped in around 1:45 after golf and could see that it would have been a long wait if we had gone at 12:00 or 7:00. Chips were average, but the salsa made up for that. The chile relleno was not the best I have ever had, but better than most. It was also clear that the beans and rice were made on premise and the cheese enchelda and sauce were also better than many other restaurants. We could tell that the live band could also attract a good crowd for dinner, but it appears that they also may play all day long! Pros: good service and decent mexican Cons: atmosphere more

Great Experience 3/24/2009

Our first visit to Palm Springs and ran across Las Casuelas by accident. Loved the dining experience. Pros: Good Food, Good Ambience more

eat tonight....pay tomorrow 7/4/2008

My friend and I were visting Palm springs and asked a few people where should we go for mexican food. Two local valets said ""Las Casuelas"". There were many open tables when we arrived and yet the hosts said ""15 minute wait"" and gave us a buzzer. we went to wait at the bar and ONE minute later the buzzer went off. we went back to the host stand and they ordered us like cattle to ""wait over there!"" in a corner area. they took us to a table in a secluded area next to some locals who were discussing how it was ""not cruel"" to give their dog hot sauce and watch it writhe in pain, because ""the dog should know by smelling it that its not good for them?"". I almost punched them in the face. we asked to move. the dog abuse people clapped when we left. while we were waiting for a new table we witnessed some insane groups of working girls stroll through with some pretty insane mammory jobs and hot topic mall outfits with super high heels. we got a seemingly nice table in an outdoor patio. we asked our very nice waiter what he recommended and got what he suggested. my food was just okay, i got carne asada tacos. my friend got a chicken burritto. her food had absolutely no taste, she said it was the driest non-taste piece of blah she ever had, even though it had all the ingredients it was supposed to have included. well, the next day we both had the most terrible gas and frightening intestinal problems we've ever experienced. watch out and avoid this place if possible!!! more

Good food if you don't mind getting lung cancer 5/6/2008

Las Casuelas Terraza has decent food. The problem is that Las Casuelas Terraza is a smoking establishment. All of the patios as well as the entire cantina are smoking areas. These areas make up about 70% of the restaurant. The staff would much rather see you leave than ask someone stop blowing cigar smoke in your childs face. \r \r My family and I came in on a lovely Sunday afternoon. The Cantina looked so nice. The live music was going on. The misting system felt wonderful. We were all enjoying our chips and salsa. Then the people next to us light up their cigarettes. Next, a man behind us lights up a cigar. The smoke was going right into our mouths. It was disgusting!. I talked to the waiter about the smoke because it was making me sick. He said he absolutely could not ask them to put out the cigarettes or the cigar. We were not contaminating anyones air, yet we were the ones that had to move to a table in a cramped, dark, back room next to the kitchen. I was not pleased at all. \r \r more

Great atmosphere, horrible food. 3/16/2008

From the inside and outside Casuelas is inviting and has a genuinely fun vibe. But unfortunately the food was so below average in taste and quality I was almost speechless. Take for example the chicken fajitas, they had so little flavor, even with the onions, avocado, peppers, and salsa rolled in with them that our table was more confused than disappointed. How can so many flavorful ingredients have so little flavor? Or literally NO flavor? It was if it was sucked out of all the food. I am quite easy to please, but this dinner was so lackluster that I am writing my first review citysearch ever. \r Maybe I'd go back for a drink at the bar, but I could never imagine paying for such a poor meal again. Pros: ambience, bar Cons: food was a huge let down more

Great atmosphere but Taco Bell gave them a run for their money! 9/30/2007

Made reservations on a sat. night and ended up with the best seats, right next to the live entertainment. Folks were dancing, having a great time. Great location and atomosphere if you are able to get outside near the band. The place was so extremely busy so I recommend reservations!!! People were either super dressed up to very casual. \r \r Food: For all the hype, we weren't impressed at all. It was pricey but worth it if the food quality and portions were changed. Taco Bell's extensive menu and blah taste would have easily compared. The burritto were so small, almost like a child's portion.\r \r Bottom Line: Great live entertainment, go for drinks, conversations and to dance the night away but the food is unimpressive and we were disappointed. We will not go back for the dining experience. Pros: Live Band, location Cons: Blah food with small portions more

Avoid on Saturday's 8/15/2007

Over crowded.. We had to wait one hour for dinner at 4:30pm. Once we were sat the menu looked extensive and impressive. I ordered the combination plate w/ a chili relleno, bean and cheese burrito and a tostada. The beans tasted canned. And the chili Relleno had no flavor. The Mexican food was not authentic what so ever, completely ""white washed"". I havent had any other good Mexican place in Palm Springs but when I do, I'll be sure to give a review. Pros: Good Michilada (beer, clamato, lime, ice and a salted rim.. that was good. Cons: White washed mexican food. :( more

Extremely Uncomfortable & disappointed 2/5/2006

First impression, the food was great. The restaurant itself was exactly what we were looking for; relaxed and football on 2 screens. The good time and relaxation ended when one of the wait-staff (standing around also watching football) threatened one of our group w/o warrent. Entire staff (saving our waiter) was extremely disrespectful and made us feel very unwelcomed and uncomfortable. Not even a question of ""the customer is always right"" more so, the customer is always welcome...not here. more

Finally a GOOD Mexican Restaurant 12/22/2004

My husband and I have been married for 2 and a half years. I'm always telling him I'd love to take him to an authentic Mexican restaurant, and I finally found one at Las Casuelas. The entertainment was great and the service was even better. I had the enchiladas suizas and they were soooo good! Pros: Authentic, Entertainment, Reasonable prices more

It's great! 1/24/2003

I do not know what some of the others had, but all I can say is wow! Fun bar, really good food and the servers were wonderful. I have been going since 1984 and do not want it to change! No food snobs, just real mexican, not hyped. Oh, the Margaritas are so good! Pros: The real deal, Fun Crowd, center of town Cons: busy more

yuk 12/5/2002

This place has the voters hood winked. They started out authentic, affordable, charming, and....they had good food. The stuff they serve now (for relatively exorbitant prices) must have the kitchen staff laughing their heads off. Their places are still charming and have good ambience but beyond that you get more value at Taco Bell. Pros: ambience Cons: steam table quality more

Too typical 11/22/2002

The only thing going for this restaurant is the location. The food is nothing special blah mexican food. The service is so so. The atmosphere is good. But the most blah tastless food around. Do something different or regional. The food at this restaurant has not changed in the 20 years I have known it. Pros: location Cons: boring food more

Decent food, Great Tourist Place 11/5/2002

If your a visitor fom out of town looking for live music, a cabana bar, and a prime downtown location, this may just be the place for you. The food is fairly tasty; however, this restaurant prepares ""Mexican style"" food that is impressive only to the likes of those who aren't familiar with more authentic Mexican cuisine. There are places close by that feature far more authentic Mexican specialties like chicken or seafood with Mole or Pipian (if your willing to leave the downtown area). Pros: Location, Atmosphere, Live Misic Cons: Expensive, "Un-authentic", Crowded more

music and margaritas 10/27/2002

delicious mexican food and yummy cocktails...average pices for the area more

yummer summer 8/13/2002

always a cool spot with great service and plenty of tasty mexican food...well appointed interior, chilly margueritas. must try! you'll return more

Down home charm 6/27/2002

This place was fantastic!!!! I would definately recommend going at night because the outside patio is very festive and charming. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. Make reservations in advance because the wait can be as long as an hour. Pros: Ambience, Taste, Crowd Cons: the wait more

Not my first choice for Mexican food 6/21/2002

The food is not the best, but the atmosphere is festive. more

A Great Patio 6/16/2002

For outdoor dining, Las Casuelas is a best bet. The huge outdoor patio doesn't even get too hot in the blistering summer, thanks to huge trees (watch out for falling leaves), umbrellas and misters. The food is pretty good, and the drinks are very good at this popular Palm Springs restaurant. The Sunday brunch has a bit of everything, from Omelette bar to full Tostada bar, prime rib, fresh waffles, fruit, you name it. It was a bit pricey at $19.95 a person, but there was no one hurrying you out, so you could stay as long as you wanted to get your money's worth. Pros: Great patio more
