Las Brisas is under new ownership as of June 2011 10/12/2011

Dear Guests,-- My name is Matteo, one of the new owners and general manager of the popular Las Brisas restaurant. I understand That Las Brisas had great deals of turmoils and ups and downs since it was first sold after 911. Unfortunately poor management and neglect took a big toll one the once most popular Latin Brand in Denver. However my partners and I are earnestly trying to make all the improvements to the restaurant in every aspect possible while maintaining the same style that personifies Las Brisas Restaurant. The venue has been completely remodeled. I sincerely hope to see you back to check out the changes and how is now properly operated. Las Brisas is one of the few independent restaurant left. I promise you I will do my best to service you with excellence and quality to keep this great brand alive in spite corporate chains competition and all the adversities that we as a nation are facing in today's trembling economy. I am at your service! ask for Matteo w..matteo@lasbrisascolorado...om more

Where Is That Waiter? 11/13/2010

We were very excited when our friends suggested we go to Las Brisas. We had been there years before, and thought it was marvelous. Not this time. First, there didn't seem to be anyone formally greeting/seating people. Then they sat us out on an enclosed patio. They had heaters (it is a November evening), but kept fooling with the thermostat, so that it alternated between roasting and too cool to be comfortable. Our waiter was the real prize, though. It took at least 10 minutes to come to us, then 20 minutes to serve us a pitcher of margaritas we ordered. Then at least another 20 minutes to take our food order, at which time my girlfriend ordered a beer (because the pitcher was fairly small and only a half glass left after 4 of us got a glass). The beer never came, and we never saw the waiter again to ask about it. After the food came, we only saw him at check time. more

What happened? 10/9/2010

We have enjoyed Las Brisas for many years. I don't know what happened, but after not going for quite awhile, last night's visit was a huge disappointment. The only good part was the table side guacamole. The fish tacos were absolutely awful...no flavor. Dry mahi on a dry tortilla with a bit of salad. Dull beans and rice. No sauce for taco...I can make them better at home. Husband ordered comination plate...said it was the worst mexican food he has ever eaten. We made it through half our meals and had enough. Didn't even box up the leftovers...paid $80 for one of the worst meals ever. So disappointed that the food has gone so far downhill. The renovations were great, but what happened to the food? more

Too pricey for what you get. 2/17/2010

Overpriced Mexican food and overpriced margaritas. That's what I think of when I think of Las Brisas. Don't bother going there for dinner. You and your wallet would be better served elsewhere. more

A little hard to find but worth the effort 2/13/2010

You would never expect to find a fantastic Mexican restaurant tucked behind a Target in a microscopic strip mall - but that is what Las Brisas is. It's a large restaurant with somewhat kitchy decor but the food, especially seafood selections are fantastic - has impressed many a Texan that I've taken there. The margaritas are fantastic - don't miss the top shelf margs. I highly recommend it! more

Great Latin food and Margaritas! 9/17/2009

Las Brisas is back! The same great food and LB Margaritas but with a new feel and upbeat staff. I love the Wednesday's Ladies night! $1 Margs! Pros: Authentic Coastal Mex - LB Margs Cons: Hidden off street more

They do not serve non white 5/13/2009

I went to Las Brisas on Wed 05/12/2009. I sat at the bar for 30 mins the bartender refused to serve me. When my 2 white friends showed up, the bartender served them but still refused to serve me. The bartender and should be fired. Cons: I waited for 30 mins. The bartender refused to serve me more

Great Guac 11/28/2008

Las Brisas is in a terrible location crammed in behind Target on Arapahoe Road. However, if you can find it, and can find decent parking, it's a nice little restaurant. The decor is kind of dumb but the food is really good. They make guacamole at your table to order and it's usually great! You can make it spicy, citrusy or whatever suits your palate. Good for blue corn enchiladas. more

Best margaritas in town 1/14/2008

Las Brisas has the best margaritas in town and they are very potent. 2 are plenty for just about anybody. If they cost more than other places (I'm not sure of that) it's probably because they actually have alcohol in them. I love the Blue Bonnet but you can drink their margaritas all night long and never know you had a drink! If you go on a weeknight, the bar is often packed by 5:30. The food is good and there is an interesting variety of dishes on the menu. Service has always been good for us in the bar and dining room, but once when we were seated on the enclosed patio early in the evening, service was slow. Tip: you can buy Las Brisas margaritas already mixed at some liquor stores in Denver. more

Bad service on more than one occasion 12/7/2007

We will never go back to Las Brisas again! My husband ordered the Verde and the black beans and rice were both very dry. My meal was decent; however, the service was so horrible that it's not worth it to eat there again. We have been there twice - the first time was a year and a half ago - it was around 4:30 or 5:00 PM (happy hour time although they do not offer one) and we just wanted Margarita's and appetizers. It was a Saturday and the restaurant was dead! Well our waiter had such a bad attitude because we were not ordering meals! We ordered the table side guacamole and he had a bad attitude about making it (mind you the place was dead)... Another friend showed up and she wanted to order a drink and he never took her order so she sat there for a half hour talking to us without a beverage! Now if you read the other review you will know that their Margaritas are not cheap; his tip would have been 20% if he would have provided professional and attentive service. We decided to give Las Brisas another try and had the same waiter! It took him forever to acknowledge us and take our order and then we had to ask the hostess for our bill when it came time to leave! You may be thinking that it's us but we are reserved and polite people and we receive good service everywhere else we go. We prefer Los Dos Portillos on the South end of town. Pros: variety of food with Spanish flare Cons: extremely poor wait staff more

not your typical mexican restaurant; high alcohol prices 10/18/2007

The menu has some interesting dishes. The food was very good, service nice the the price for a pitcher of margarita's was outragous. It was Friday Happy Hour and no special pricing. Out of a pitcher which cost over $20 we barely got 4 drinks. We defintely won't be back. I would much rather give my business to nearby La Fagota. Pros: different entree's than your typical Mexcian restaurant Cons: Margarita's cost WAY too high for the quantity you get more

not your typical mexican restaurant 11/21/2006

we kept seeing the ads for las brisas margaritas, so we decided to go see how good they really were. it's not your typical mexican restaurant, but the food was really good. the menu had lots of seafood options as well as other ""coastal mexican"" items. the day we went, i was expecting to be eating at a typical mexican place, so i wasn't really in the mood to try the seafood. i had the pork burrito, smothered, and it was really good, and a very huge portion. my husband enjoyed the margaritas as well. we'll definitely go back! Pros: great variety, good food, good margaritas, friendly service Cons: cheesy, outdated decor more

Change of Pace 4/14/2006

This is a pleasant Mexican restaurant that has nice variety on its menu. The seafood is good and the service is friendly and accommodating. I've never waited for a table though it has busy times. It's tucked out of the way near a large Target store. Plenty of parking! Pros: good parking, easy access more

Great Mexican Restaurant 3/28/2005

This warm, cheerful Mexican restaurant provides a good menu selection, efficient service, and reasonable prices. The atmosphere was reminiscent of a tropical location, with white walls and relaxed but cheerful music. The restaurant was clean and well-lit. Based on my own experience and several others I've spoken to, the food is always good. more

Superior Margs and Food 2/12/2005

This restaurant reminds me more of the Cuban restaurants in FLorida. They have a great paella, and the Las Paradillas dish is huge. They also have a seafood adoba type dish that is wonderful too. Their margaritas are killer. You are limited to 3. I won't say these are the best margs I've ever had, but they do the job. Pros: Seafood, Margaritas more

Since 1987 6/6/2004

We have been going there since 1987. I especially like their Jalapeno Blue Cheese salad dressing and their Flan. My hubby says he'd like to eat a 2 quart dish of it! Their Flan is the best I've ever had and I've even had the real stuff a Mexican Mom made! Their main dishes are wonderful, they have REAL flavor, not just spicy hot. I've never had anything I didn't like. I've been to other Mexican places to try but none are as good as Las Brisas. I ALWAYS go back to Las Brisas to have a real GOOD tasting mexican meal! more

Ruby 2/18/2003

I love their chips with guacamole made right at your table. The food is fresh and flavorful. Always a pleasant experience! more
