BEWARE: Take your BMW elsewhere.
I had my BMW in Larry's shop for the equivalent of 5 days and my problem was not fixed and yet it cost me $1000 dollars. My engine was randomly misfiring and so I took it in. They recommended changing my spark plugs, fuel filter, an ""induction cleaning"" and a bunch of other horseshit. To make a long story short, it didn't work. I brought my car in again and they told me I had 2 bad ignition coils (how did you miss it the first time). *CHA-CHING*. There goes the dynamite aka my money.
Once again, it didn't work. They told me to bring it back in and they would replace the other 4 ignition coils, of course at my expense. So I bring my car back, and Larry (the owner) tells me in the morning he knows exactly what's wrong with the car (I'm sitting there thinking, why the hell didn't you fix it then?). He stated it wasn't the ignition coils but the fuel pump. He apologized for taking a $1000 of my money (how sweet) and offered to replace the part with no cost in labor. The only problem is, he quoted me $800 for a fuel pump. A fuel pump for my vehicle cost $270 dollars from autozone, napa, or any other vendor. I don't want a diamond encrusted pump with chrome lining. What the true kicker is that Larry offered financing for a artificially inflated priced out fuel pump. I could make 3 easy installments for a part priced out 3 times it's worth!!! DEAL!
Obviously I declined at this point and Larry suggested the ""harsh winter"" could be causing this problem here in GA. Are you kidding me? It barely breaks freezing in this state and a German car can't handle the Southern United States. At this point I was ready to take them to small claims court if I wasn't so burnt out with the entire situation.
Obviously I took it to another shop. The guys down the road at Carma Motor-Sports updated the engine firmware/software (took 20 mins) and the car quit misfiring. Real Mechanics.
On that note, If you have a BMW or Mercedes I would not take it to this shop. I would take it to a specialist and not someone who wants to do guesswork all day at your expense. Oh, I forgot. When I picked up my car the stick shift knob was ripped off and the doors were locked on the inside. Fun.
Pros: Good at taking your money
Cons: Really good at taking your money
